Most everyone who has visited Bali has either heard of or been to the Mandala Wisata Wanara Wana, commonly known in English as the Sacred Monkey Forest. A popular tourist destination, the sanctuary is a 27-acre forested area consisting of a nature reserve and temple complex in the village of Padangtegal, located in Ubud, Bali. The forest's residences are its main claim to fame - hundreds of long-tailed Macaques that are dispersed throughout the park, occupying different territories within. Many of you may be familiar with the plight of the Orangutans in Borneo and Sumatra. Palm Oil plantations are quickly wiping out their natural habitat, and unless something is done to stop this, the end could be near for our furry red friends. Having held and connected with a baby Orangutan by the name of Elmo at Taman Safari, this is a cause very dear to us.
