welcome to the world without basketball...
It's wild how different life feels when you no longer do what you've always done. Basketball ended for me on February 26th against Roanoke College in the ODAC Semifinal. The night before we did the unthinkable and beat Bridgewater, the best team in the conference in one of the best games we had played all season. I can't tell you how great it felt to "make it to saturday," and keep playing basketball for a few more days. But as great as the win felt, the loss felt even worse. Since basketball has ended, I haven't touched a basketball. My... Continue reading

After this, it's all over.
So, here we are again. You guys are probably wondering what's going on with the GC women's basketball team and I'm inevitably being one of the worst bloggers of all time. Please forgive me. My schedule is only a little hectic. And when I say little, I mean like mad, crazy busy at all hours of the day. But anyways, with that being said here goes nothing... Friday will mark my last official "first day" of practice in my last season of basketball ever. Scary huh? I'd like to think so. For the past 17 years of my life, each... Continue reading

Summertime = Working Time
Hello all...coming to you live from the Guilford College Sports Information Office -- yep it's summer and I'm still here. I got offered a spot this summer in Guilford's Cadre Program which is like a work study program where you're given a summer job and free summer school. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. I also work at Carrabba's at night to earn some extra money here and there. My summer school classes are amazing, (I know, I'm a dork) I'm taking Music & Contemporary Culture and the Study of Gangs. Both classes are really interesting and I'm enjoying... Continue reading

What's New
So it's been awhile. Last time I wrote to you guys, it was snowing outside. Now, it's hot and sunny weather. Since mid-March it's been hard to stay focused on school because it's been so beautiful outside. Most of my days consist of going to class then playing tennis or frisbee out by the "lake" on campus. Also in my free time, I've been putting together Guilford Women's basketball post season stuff and we've been having fun playing pick-up and trying to stay in shape. Most of my time, however, is focusing on finishing up my junior year as successfully... Continue reading

Snow.
Snow: It may be pretty at first, but don't let it confuse you. It turns into the Guilford Womens Basketball teams worst nightmare. Just kidding, of course. This past weekend we were only trapped in the Holiday Inn in downtown Lynchburg from Friday night through Sunday morning. And the majority of us were not equipped for the bad weather. It made for great team bonding, but it also cause for some chaos. Nonetheless, we made it back to Guilford to find a snow-covered campus and we were hoping to have no school but we weren't that fortunate. We did have... Continue reading

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.
So, I have to admit -- when it comes to this blogging thing, I have been a huge slacker...but coach always says it's not how you start, it's how you finished. These past few weeks have been pretty hectic for us; we've enjoyed a big cross-town rivalry win against Greensboro, 81-69. The next day we packed up and headed to Maryland for our first road trip to play in the Jim Crawley Tip-Off Classic. We dropped our first game to Frostburg State by four. It was a real nail biter that came down to the last 30 seconds. The next... Continue reading

Two days down...
So, we finished up our first two days of practice on Friday and it went really well considering how many people were out with the flu. With all the newcomers, everyone is getting acquainted with how things work, but all-in-all I felt like practice went really well. With it being fall break, coach was feeling a little generous and gave us a few days off to go home and rest up. With all the sickness going around, it was probably a really good decision...not to mention I have a nine year old brother who LOVES for his big sister to... Continue reading

Midnight Madness, Midterm Week, and the Flu.
I'm Lauren LeFevers, and for those of you who don't know me, I'm a junior at Guilford College where I play women's basketball. Both of which have been the best decisions I've made thus far in my life. I love it here and my teammates have become my second family. This is my first blog and I'm excited to give you guys an inside view on my life as a student-athlete. So, today is October 15th, the first official day of basketball practice and something a little different, it's also midterm week. My week has consisted of two midterms, a... Continue reading
