Good morning friends! I'm participating in this week's Papertrey Ink Throwback Thursday! We are featuring the Zappy Birthday stamp set. This set is SO much fun! I will admit that our family loves all of the comic book movies that have been coming out lately! My daughter, however, is the biggest fan of all and I thought this set would be perfect to create a card for her! I know that pink isn't the color that you would immediately think of when creating a super hero kind of card, but I really wanted to try something different. I created a color blocked background by layering Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst, and Raspberry Fizz cardstock strips onto the card base. I stamped each of the strips using the coordinating ink pads to achieve the tone on tone look. Thanks so much for stopping by! You can see more Zappy Birthday projects over... Continue reading

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing a project created with the brand new Cover Up: Grid stamp from Papertrey Ink! I also wanted to share a brand new program called Summer Perks! During the summer, there will be intermittent releases featuring some of the designers from Papertrey Ink! Along with today's release of the Cover Up: Grid stamp, there is also a sale on all previously released Cover Up stamps! This is the perfect time to stock up on any of the Cover Up series stamps that you have been wanting! It's not hard to realize how much I love the Cover Up stamp sets! I really love the backgrounds, and usually choose to stamp them tone on tone for projects. For today's card, I stamped the Cover Up: Grid stamp in Pale Peony onto Sweet Blush cardstock. After stamping the background, I layered it onto a stamped and cut border... Continue reading

Welcome to the Day 4 Papertrey Ink June release countdown post! Today I'm sharing a card I created using the new Corner Adorner: June stamp set, Sentiment Staples: Sending You stamp set, and Bold Borders: Wave die set. All of the new products being showcased today will be available tomorrow, June 15th at 10 pm ET. My first card features the Bold Borders: Wave die set. I die cut the border die in black and layered it over a white card base. The sentiment is from the new Sentiment Staples: Sending You stamp set. Because the Sending You stamp would not fit in the space that I wanted to add it to, I did some selective inking (only inking up one word at a time) and dividing it up in to two rows. The floral images are from the Farmer's Market Florals stamp set. I die cut them out using... Continue reading

Welcome to the Day 4 Papertrey Ink June release countdown post! Today I'm sharing a card I created using the new Botanical Bounty II stamp set. All of the new products being showcased today will be available June 15th at 10 pm ET. I am such a fan of the first Botanical Bounty stamp set so I was absolutely giddy when I saw the Botanical Bounty II stamp set!! More floral gorgeousness! Papertrey's flowers are definite must haves for me! For my card, I sponged the background using Versamark Ink and one of the Stencil Basics: Dots stencils. I added a triangle of vellum to soften part of the background a bit and then layered my flowers on top to create a floral focal piece. The sentiment is from the Sentiment Staples: Thank You stamp set. Make sure to check out the Papertrey Ink blog for even more inspiration! Thanks... Continue reading

Welcome to the Day 3 Papertrey Ink June release countdown post! Today I'm sharing a card I created using the new How Are You Today? stamp set along with the Words to Live By: Laugh stamp set. All of the new products being showcased today will be available June 15th at 10 pm ET. For my first card, I combined both the How Are You Today? stamp set (and coordinating dies) with the new Words to Live By: Laugh. I stamped one of the flowers repeatedly for the background. I used one of the tags from the Pitter Patterns Tags die set as well as one of the dies from the Noted: Scalloped A2 die set for the focal image. I stamped one of the sentiments from the Words to Live By: Laugh set and added the coordinating Laugh die. I embellished with some of the flowers from the How... Continue reading

Welcome to the Day 2 Papertrey Ink June release countdown post! Today I'm sharing a card I created using the new Text & Texture: Ocean stamp set and the Reef Builder die set. All of the new products being showcased today will be available June 15th at 10 pm ET. I love dies that have extra details added to them, like the stitching details on the Reef Builder dies! I started by die cutting the new Shape Shifter: Oval 2 die set. I filled in the negative bits of the oval with Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, and Tropical Teal cut outs. After die cutting some of the Reef Builder dies, I added color to them with ink sponging. For the background, I stamped the new Text & Texture: Ocean using Aqua Mist and Tropical Teal inks. For even more texture, I splattered on some white paint. The sentiment is from... Continue reading

Happy Friday! I'm up this week for Papertrey Ink's Design Team Tips and I'm sharing with you one of my favorite design principles, the Rule of Odds. Long before I understood that this was actually a real principle, I found myself more attracted to odd numbers of images and or embellishments. Usually it would take me quite a while to just play with the items on my cards until I eventually ended up with an uneven amount of items. Now, knowing this rule, I can skip all of the fussing and the creating process is much quicker for me. Basically, the Rule of Odds is that we are drawn to an uneven number of items. Our brains tend to want to pair things up as soon as we see something, so adding an uneven amount of items causes us to really stop and look. It's visually more appealing, facilitates movement... Hey friends! Welcome to the June Reverse Confetti creative blog hop! Our theme this month is Summer Fun, For my first card, I chose a bright color palette for the background. For the focal image, I stamped the My Sunshine stamp set and then die cut it out using the coordinating My Sunshine Confetti Cuts. For embellishment, I sprinkled on some clear sequins. My second card features the Hey Sugar stamp set and coordinating Hey Sugar Confetti Cuts die set. I also used the Stitched Squares Confetti Cuts die set. The patterned paper is from the Paper Bliss 6 x 6 Paper Pad. For embellishment, I tied on some string and added some sequins. Ready for more inspiration? Hi friends! I'm hosting this month's Monthly Mix Challenge over at StampTV! If you are new to this challenge, it's a super fun and easy way to be entered to win a $75 Gift Certificate to the Gina K. Designs store! My challenge is called Gray is the New Black, and I am challenging you to use gray as one of the main colors in your creation. You can see all of the challenge details HERE. Here is what I created for the challenge... I absolutely LOVE gray, and Gina's new Slate gray is such a lovely dark gray! I particularly love adding bright and bold colors with a dark gray. I started by stamping some of the leaves and swirls from the new Layered Daisies set from the Sunshine and Love StampTV Kit using Slate ink. I added the brightly colored daisies that I stamped and die cut, popping... Continue reading

Hi friends! I thought I would stop by and change up the scenery here a bit! :-) One of my favorite things about Queen & Co is the many embellishments they carry, and all in coordinating colors! My cards today feature the Glitter Globes embellishments. Glitter Globes are slightly larger sized bling that are textured and sparkle...the absolute perfect embellishment! For my first card, I used the Glitter Globes to as decoration to flower centers. I die cut three flowers and then added a coordinating Glitter Globe to each one. The die cut sentiment is from the Special Word Dies Assortment 2 set. For my second card, I used Pink Glitter Globes to accent the butterflies. I created two butterfly shakers using the Shaped Shaker Butterflies set. I sprinkled on some white epoxy dots (from the Epoxy Dots Black/White). The background paper is from the Fruit Paper Pad. Again, I... Continue reading

Hi friends! I have a couple of cards to share with you today featuring Queen & Company's flowers! I absolutely love adding flowers to my cards. In fact, they are one of my all time favorite embellishments! For my first card, I created a wreath using White, Pink, and Hot Pink Layered Flowers. I love that they already have bling attached to them! The background paper is from the Birthday Bash 6x6 Paper Pad. I tucked in a couple of White Starburst embellishments to the ends of the sentiment banner. For my second card, I used a few of the Black/White Bouquet Bright Flowers as embellishments. For the focal image, I created a shaker using the Spring Shaped Shaker Kit. I embossed one of the sentiments from the Summer Clear Stamps set. For the finishing touch, I added a bow using the Black Paper Twine. Thanks so much for joining... Continue reading

Hi there! Happy Saturday friends! Before I share my projects today, I wanted to let you know that Queen & Co is having a fabulous Memorial Day sale!! You can see all of the items that are 20% off HERE! Today I'm sharing two cards I created using the Birthday Bash Kit from Queen & Company! This kit is amazing! Incredibly fun stamps, matching dies, bling, bright paper, and pom poms! It just doesn't get better than that! :-) For my first card, I just had to ink up the balloon image from the included stamp set! Balloons and celebrations just go hand in hand, not to mention being so fun to fill with pom poms! I lightly stamped the two star images in on the white background layer using a very pale gray ink. I strung two of the banner images across the top to make the scene even... Continue reading

Hey there! Happy Tuesday friends! Today I'm sharing a project I created for Papertrey Ink's Transformation Tuesday challenge! The idea is to take one of your own projects that either didn't turn out the way you envisioned or one that you would like to change up a little (either make a feminine card masculine or vise versa). The card that immediately came to mind for today's challenge was one that I created for this past November's release. Even though my original card was created during the Fall (so it made sense to use Autumn inspired colors) I was never quite happy with how it turned out. I absolutely loves these flowers from the Flower Power stamp set and thought they should be the first thing you see. With my old card, the background and frame was so busy that it competed too much with the flowers. I kept the overall... Continue reading

Good morning friends! I'm participating in this week's Papertrey Ink Throwback Thursday! We are featuring the Shape Up: Onesie die. This card sized die is such a classic, one that can flow with the changing styles and trends. For my first card, I created a welcome card perfect for a new baby girl. I blended the front panel using Distress Oxide ink. I stamped the sweet little bow background stamp (from the Pitter Pattern stamp set). I embellished the front with flowers stamped and die cut with Gran's Garden stamp and die set. The sentiment is also from the Pitter Pattern stamp set. I created a very similar card for my second project, just changing up the colors and images for a boy. The background and sentiment are from the Pitter Pattern stamp set. The globe is from the new Glorious Globes: May stamp set. To see more Cover Up:... Continue reading

I'm pretty sure the Cover Up: Hexagons is going to be one of my most used Papertrey background stamps! It is one of those that will work for almost anything!
