Wil- I thought you'd like to read this story (not at the convention, just personally). It's from one of my favorite blogs and it's about a widowed, non-geek father discovering that his 4 year old daughter is a geek. http://www.mattlogelin.com/archives/2012/02/27/my-little-tomboy/comment-page-5/#comment-349048

Happy Birthday, Wil!!! I routinely forget how old I am; I think it's mostly from disbelief. I hope you have a wonderful day! My dad turns 80 on Sunday so I'm headed up to Portland for the big party.

I like to think of myself as a long time reader, (I'm not sure, at least three or four;I'm getting old, the years keep speeding by)so I've read this story before. It's still a great read, you do a good job of capturing that teenage angst and embarrassment that I think all of us felt at some point. You are one of my Mozilla tabs so I come here almost everyday; it's great to see you are getting new users, too!

Hey, Wil, I wish I could have been there. It would have been cool to see one of my favorite people in one of my favorite places (Portland). Speaking of, I found this blog post about Powell's which I know you love like I do. I think it speaks very well to why people love it so much. http://www.powells.com/blog/?p=19010?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=facebook_fans&utm_content=Matt%20Love%20May12

Well, let me just be one more person to say how sorry I am. I always love your animal based posts (and tweets). I know how our pets are members of the family. You, Anne and the boys are in my thoughts.

Sorry, just reread this- I meant to say "our animals". That will teach me to post without previewing.

Oh, Wil, I'm so jealous! My parents and my sister and her family live in Portland so I make it there pretty often but it's one of my favorite places and I wish I could be there wandering around. My mom usually gives me a Powell's giftcard when I'm there so not only do I get the joy of Powell's, I get free money to spend there! Have fun and I can't wait to see your Leverage episode.

I'm so sorry about your dog. I know are animals are like family so it's devastating to lose them. I'll be thinking about you.

Somewhat off topic, but hey, Wil, did you know you can follow one of the space shuttle astronauts on Twitter? He's Astro_Mike.

Hey, Wil, did you produce that earthquake for your birthday?? Seriously, I hope everyone is ok up your way. I just felt my desk shake.

You also share a birthday with another of my favorites, Tim Gunn.

Great picture and Happy Birthday, Wil!! I hope it's a great one. Most of my family insist on having summer birthdays and then I come along in November. As a matter of fact, note to self, buy Dad's birthday card! Anyway, enough babbling; I hope you have a great day with the family.

That is cool. I did theater as a kid through college and I remember the fun and camaraderie involved in being in a cast. I'm sure it was nothing quite as exciting as you had, Wil but I do miss it sometimes.

I fix computers for a living and I've had some fun times trying to break some people from sending out the "Bill Gates is giving away money" and other such scams to huge groups of people. One of my favorites was when I received the Nigerian scam in french.

That's cool that you get to come down here. I met you at Mysterious Galaxy and mentioned the possibility of a Fark gathering. Would you still be interested? I know you're busy at these things but if you have time it would be great to have a Guiness with you.

My roommate is an artist and I know how annoyed he gets with the people who seem to think all they need to do is buy a paint brush and paints and "boom" they're artists, too. I guess I'm trying to say I understand the artists on here wanting respect for their profession but come on guys, this is Wil. He's not looking to take advantage of you; he's trying the best he can to make it a win/win situation. By the way, we use Zazzle for merchandise and they do a good job and seem to have a lot more options than Cafepress. And Wil, I know my roommate wants to paint a portrait of you (or Anne) so if you have any interest, get in touch. PPS. Any chance you are going to come down for Comic-Con?
