Hey Benita, so glad that you are able to breathe and be yourself again. I can tell it in your writing. How is Wille taking all of this? The cats seem nonchalant, in a way that only cats can. Love to see what you are cooking for two every day. Oh, and I love your jeans!

Hi Benita, I just arrived home after traveling 500 miles to attend a funeral. When I sat down to look at your blog I shed a little tear....I didn't know I had any left. However, I do believe that people who are not compatible for any reason should not stay together.. life is oh so short. I believe all 5 of you will make it just fine (counting 4-footed friends). I left my first husband because he loved the bottle more than me--I never looked back; it was the best thing I have ever done. Your case is different and you and Martin seem to be in agreement and handling it well. I wish you all the best. You'll always have the support of your blog readers.

Hi Benita, I don't have any children of my own, and I'm soooo bad at looking at baby and child pictures and "seeing" them as the adults they are. But you, I recognized immediately!! You must not be aging very much. haha When things are crappy in my life, I think about all the things that could be worse and how much pain some people are going through, and all I do have in life, and things get much better. Your weekend will be better! Take care.

Hi Benita, Not to be too nosy.. but didn't you and Martin "split up" a while back and this is your room and his is the boat room?? I was just wondering how this arrangement is working out for you both. My hubby and I are polar opposites when it comes to sleep needs--he doesn't need any and I like a solid 8. I think separate bedrooms may be in order for us down the road. Just wondered what your thoughts are on this topic. PS-How about some "Martha" turquoise accents, kind of like the wall color in your living room?

Trash cans, empty food cans. . .I want to work where you work. You could probably decorate a house just from work's discards. Hey, I feel a contest coming on!

Love your "library" on the third shelf from the bottom :) Ah, the language of the bathroom is universal!! While it's nice that Wille's tall pump bottle can now fit in the cabinet, did you consider putting it into a smaller (white) container? I'll bet you did!

I loved your remark about the expiration date. During the big blizzard we had this past winter, I decided to clean out our chest freezer. This was my husband's before I married him. Getting to the bottom of the freezer took a while, but there were "things" in there from 1996. I didn't even meet him til 1997 and we married in 2000. Guess I just piled more stuff on top of his when I moved in. But now it's almost empty and ready to defrost. Personally, I'd rather get rid of the freezer and have the space for storage :) What do two old people need with a chest freezer? My mom before she died also had very old and fuzzy things in her fridge, probably because a) she couldn't see and b) didn't want to throw anything away. You're a good daughter to do this for her!!

I agree about the magazines. I've been reading Real Simple since its inception 10 years ago. I still subscribe, but most of the ideas seem to be repeats to me. Country Home went out of business. Not interested in fashion (Elle, Vogue--what real-life woman dresses like that????) Is Country Living any good? What mags do you all like? I'm afraid in a few years all the mags will be digital and we'll have to subscribe to read 'em on the web. Happy Spring!

Hi Benita, A minor correction to your library list: "Alex Delaware" is not an author but the main psychiatrist/detective character in Jonathan Kellerman novels. Just didn't want you lingering over the "D"s looking for "Delaware" :) Kellerman has written other novels but I like the Delaware ones the best. I have a Dremel and it comes in handy for so many things you wouldn't even think of. You will love yours!

I just watched the Bamboo promo video from the link on the Herman Miller blog. I want one. Am I correct in thinking you hook it up to your laptop and can expand, rotate, edit, etc. any image you are looking at on the internet?? Or does it have to be one of your own image files? Plus you can add your own handwriting/notes to an image? Way cool. Please keep us posted (with samples) as you learn things about your Bamboo.

Hi Benita, 1) Love your hair! 2) When we had our blizzards on the US east coast, we too fed the deer scraps and hay. They were desperate. 3) Hang in there, spring is near. We have tulips, irises and daffodils poking through the ground already. 4) I like a lot of Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta novels (forensic); Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware novels (psychological thrillers) and also James Patterson's Alex Cross novels (psychological crimes as well, usually based around the Washington, DC area).

Photo #1--Mini was toying with the mouse. Photo #4--Bonus is advising Mini to look for better things in Wille's bookcase. Photo #6--It's a wonder Wille has anything left on his shelves!! I'm surprised that Ms. Liberty didn't tumble torchfirst to the floor, or the little ducky in the next cube didn't take a nosedive (or rather, a billdive) :) Photo #7--A certain someone had better get busy.....

Wonderful post! Funny, I use a point 'n shoot Canon and hubby has the Pentax Optio (non-waterproof). Oh, could the fish be this (it's called a streaked gurnard): http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3178/2937536969_57160bd2ac.jpg?v=0 Benita, do you have a macro lens that allows very close-up shots, like of flowers or insects? Do you ever use a telephoto for far-away shots, like for birds, wildlife, etc? I'm saving money for a nice camera and lenses that will let me do these things. Pricey but I've heard good things about the Eos. Off topic: Love your hair short!! Do you like it better than the longer hair you had? Mine's long enough now to clip it back out of my face, but it's fine and stringy so I'm thinking I may go short. Do you think you could get Martin or Wille to shoot a side and back view of your haircut to post!?!?! Would love to see it. Thanks!

Love love love your front-loading washing machine. I have a top loader with the spindle and it's not very large. Do you find you can wash a large (double size) bedspread or blanket in your washer? Also, do you get hard water stains in your toilets and if so, what do you use to clean?

Bravo Benita!! It's so nice to hear you speak. Makes the readers feel closer to you (if that's possible, since you are so open and honest with your writing anyway). I'll take your poll but I love all your posts, but I guess I do favor some more than others. Love the map background (is that Wille's wall?), your hair, your grey T-shirt (what else?), your unpretentiousness, your smile... was expecting Mini or Bonus to show up somewhere though!! :) More videos please--cats, Wille, Martin, neighborhood, etc.

Please go on a clear day in the spring! I read this on the web: "About Stockholm SkyView The Ericsson Globe is the largest hemispherical building in the world with a diameter of 110 meters. Constructed on top of 48 curved main columns a Mero space frame carries the dome shaped structure. The building was ready in 1989 and the unique hemispherical construction was designed by WSP Construction Design. The new Stockholm SkyView consists of two glass gondolas, travelling up two sets of rails to be mounted on the outside of the Ericsson Globe. The gondolas can each carry 16 passengers and at the turning point, 130 meters above sea level, it will give a view over Stockholm (including our nearby WSP Globen office)." Sounds like it goes to the top and you can see in all directions. Way cool!

Hi Benita, Off the milk topic, but I saw on our US news a new elevator car-type "ride" that goes outside the Globe Arena in Stockholm. It looks very cool. Will you ever be going on it and taking some photos of Stockholm?? On the milk topic, I personally can't stand cow's milk (don't know why), but I love almond milk on my cereal. It comes in fat-free vanilla flavored and I think it's really delicious. Our cat even likes it. Still loving the new format of your blog and your daily photos.

I figured Martin was in a creative field too, judging by the illustrations he's done for your blog (not to mention the woodworking projects). If I was 45 years younger--and lived in Sweden--I'd be after Wille ;) He seems like such a nice young man.

Hi Benita! Your avatar looks a little like Twiggy :) My questions are: (OK if you would rather not answer for "privacy" or "security" reasons)-- Where do you work and explain briefly what you do. Where does Martin work and what does he do? Does Wille have a girlfriend? Love your new blog look.

Love it Benita! Love the banner... those of us that have been following you for a while recognize these items from your house. I tried the search button and it worked great. I don't mind that it's off to the side. Being orange, it's always there in my peripheral vision. I'm sure Bonus and Mini could write their own blog since they help with so many of your projects. Perhaps that's what Bonus is doing in today's post!?!? :)

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Benita. I'm looking forward to another year of inspiration from you in 2010! Actually for 2010 my main resolution will NOT be to lose weight but to become "simpler" (less cluttered) and more organized. I'm looking to you to help me reach that goal ;) Thank you for all you do.

You Go Girl!! Love your loot. You shop like me--mostly for home and a few clothes but only the "necessaries." Just as an FYI, if you ever want something from the states let me know and I'll send it to you. I'm not near the fancier stores but could supply you from Michael's, JCP, Starbucks, magazines, oh, and the "drugs." Hope you had no trouble getting through security and I love your "luggage tag"--it's so you!
