Hope a speedy recovery to Anne :) (Been there... oh the memories).
Watson looks like he has some sort of plan hatched for a future assault on the cast.... he looks oddly confident and mischievous... 2 traits you never want to see in a pet or a toddler...
In which my wife is entertained by our pets, and I am amused.
Anne had minor ankle surgery last week, so she's been at home since Friday, recovering. Our pets are all incredibly excited that she's been a captive audience for them; both cats and both dogs have happily spent entire days on our bed with her. Yesterday, our cat Watson got himself all worked up...
The Expired Sandwich... and other oddities of a familial nature
My Mom is half a brick short of a load. There is simply no other way to say it. I can't lie or beat around the bush. The woman has many wonderful qualities such as an uncanny ability to train dogs and a talent for floral arranging, however her behavior... Continue reading

Wil: do take in an AFL game if you can, and while you're doing that I will be back here in Canada watching the Canucks thoroughly trample the Kings tonight.
Anne: 'Kill vegemite with fire' just made you my new favorite person. That stuff is nasty!
If we work together we can beat this evil.
I simply need you to gather all the vegemite in Oz and I will swing by with a destroyer (or a flame thrower; technically I am in the Army, not Navy) and we can take care of this once and for all!
Greetings from Australia!
Greetings from Australia! I've been here for something like four days (I say "something like" because the time travel thing that happens when you cross the International Date Line is still confusing me), and I just love it. Anne and I are in Melbourne, which I've found to be an absoulutely wonder...
AVOID VEGEMITE AT ALL COSTS!!! It is truly and thoroughly DISGUSTING!!!
Everything else about Oz is amazing, lots of rugby, beach, barby (BBQ) and beer, beer, beer.
I forgot to mention that I'm coming to Australia
This Friday, I'm heading to Melbourne to present Video Games Unplugged with Scott Kurtz and Kris Straub. The show is going to be amazing: the MSO will play music from games like Bioshock 2, Heavy Rain, and Final Fantasy. As the music plays, they'll show the games on a huge screen. And did I ment...
Hey, sorry I didn't respond in the last few months, I have been in military training . Hope your wife and children are well.
Hockey: looks like Ryan Smyth moved home to Alberta...
Go Flames! Go!
remember this ' you never fall, you attack the ground willingly!'
the obligatory post-audition reflections
The directions to my audition were simple: two freeways, one off-ramp, two left turns. In practice, finding a parking spot and making my way into the actual waiting room were slightly less complicated than getting The Babelfish (kids, ask your parents), so I actually walked into the room for my ...
Okay, fine... so LA Kings may have come out on top on Saturday...
Just so you know, while I am lying in bed all day eating tubs of ice cream it is not because I am embarassed or ashamed... it's cause I went snowboarding earlier and had an epic crash and won't be walking properly for at least a week.
The annual Ryan Smyth fmaily tournament was a success, the kids had fun and a lot of pizza was had by all.
Always the best wishes to you and your family.
:)

The Day After and Other Stories goes digital
tl;dr: The Day After And Other Stories is once again available for download. It's $4.99 at Lulu. Yay! In December of last year, I released a very short collection of very short stories for a very short time - just ten days, actually - as an experiment in releasing short fiction. It sold fai...
Ah-hem *
Please note that the puck drops tomorrow at 7pm. Calgary is on a 6 game win streak and we intend to crush L.A. for #7!
On the ironic side: despite having free tickets to the game, I will not be able to attend (or even watch) as I will be a referee for a children's hockey tournament hosted by none other than the family of L.A. Kings allstar forward Ryan Smyth right here in our home town of Banff, AB.
Have a great weekend :)

(said with complete love and respect for you. Readers are required to have a sense of humour)
I wish you and your family the best and happiest in 2011.
Saturday February 5th Calgary Flames vs L.A. Kings.
Just remember it's pronounced "GO FLAMES! GO!"
Lots of love and a great new year to everyone :)
Happy New Year. I'm on a boat.
I'm going to be on JoCo Cruise Crazy until January 8. I thought it was kind of important to stay connected, keep Twittering and blogging and Internetting while I was on a boat, but after much deliberation, decided that I will not be purchasing Holland America's Yes, We Use The Whole Fist int...

On Friday, I posted this picture, which I thought was just crying out for a caption: Holy crap, did you guys come through with replies. I think this post is the most-heavily commented post in the history of my blog, going back almost a decade. So, I said that I'd pick a winner, which was incre...
Thank you for the Honorable Mention :)
I know you are busy and your time is appreciated.
Now, if we can just solve this one spelling mistake I keep seeing you make in Twitter (joking).... You keep saying 'Go Kings' but I'm sorry, it's actually 'Go Flames! Go!'
As in Calgary Flames... a real NHL team.

The one time of year India is the best place to be.
Well, it's that time of year again! A time to recognize the true spirit of the holiday's. What my mother thinks: What I see: - aren't the lights so pretty? - I've been electrocuted twice -look at all the lovely children playing! - Someone's bastard offspring just puked on me... Continue reading

(loudspeaker crackles) "Security to aisle two, please... Security to aisle two."
merry smurfin' smurfmas, mothersmurfers
This is crying out for a caption. I'll choose my favorite, and send something neat* to whoever writes it. Submissions open throughout the weekend, one per person, and can only be left as comments here (it's too difficult to track on Twitter or via e-mail). *definition of 'neat' will be at my s...
Adopting a dog is as much a gift to us (humans) as it is for the dogs. I grew up on a farm and our neighbourhood frequently had dogs dumped from the nearby city. We were foruntate enough one morning to find a 4 month old Golden Retriever on our doorstep. After realizing how smart he was my family has expanded to being a foster home for puppies in training with the National Service Dog Association to help people with disabilities.
Strange how one turn of the head with floppy ears can just bowl you over :)
My condolences on the passing of Ferris and congrats on the new family member, Seamus.
Have a great day!
To celebrate the legacy of our awesome dog
Last year Anne and I raised some money for the Pasadena Humane Society in memory of our awesome dog, Ferris. When I wrote about it here, Anne said: Just over 8 years ago, I made a right turn instead of a left out of the Home Depot parking lot. That was a turn that would change our lives forev...
Wow, that photo is great. I can't believe that was with a phone cam. I really miss living by Granville, that market is great, eh?
Did you get the chance to take the mini-ferry across from the mainland - Granville or did you take the regualr bridge route?
a quick one while i'm away...
Yesterday, Niall Matter and I went over to Granville Island for lunch and shopping at the public market. Matt Hastings, who is one of the producers, met us, and we had a really nice time sitting on the deck of this restaurant, enjoying the beautiful day, and some great food. We talked about all ...
Lol. I love that quote!

random thoughts from vancouver
I have a late call today, so I have some time to write. Yaaaaay. Here's a few things that have been on my mind in the last, oh, 36 hours or so. So that silly thing Paul and Storm and Adam and I did sort of took off, didn't it? I'm thrilled that so many people found it as entertaining and amusing...
you are right on all acounts. Facebook is becoming more sketchy by the day and the lack of internet accessability here is frustrating. In blocking out the American content the Canadian government has cleared a path for Canadian creators and artists to promot their work as well (this isn't limited to the internet, it is true for TV and radio content as well). Apparently this was done to keep us involved with our *sigh* 'culture'... (ya it's okay to laugh at that). By law in Canada 35% if all media content must be Canadian.
We have overstepped the boundries, however, of attempting to do the same with internet service. The internet should not be governed.

We can't have nice things.
'Anything man made will eventually break and fail.' -unknown Um.. ya that pretty much sums up our accomplishments as a species in our material possession driven world. There is no shortage to completely useless inventions for every aspect of life imaginable. Even a classless chump like me has a cupboard... Continue reading

I didn't have cable tv until 6 months ago. Wow do I ever have some catching up to do! Too bad we don't have Nickelodeon in my region, seems they know what's hot :)
FLASHBACK! True Stories From Famous People
When I was a dorky teenager, I was sort of thrust into the spotlight by Stand By Me and Star Trek. I've written before about how weird the whole thing was, and how uncomfortable a lot of the attention made me, but it wasn't all bad; I got to do some cool things, and meet some cool people as a re...

Would there ever be a TBBT movie?
If you could ask the cast and creators of Big Bang Theory anything, what would it be?
This Friday, I'm moderating the Big Bang Theory panel at Comic-con. The entire cast will be in attendance, as well as series creators Bill Prady and Chuck Lorre. We only have an hour, which always goes by faster than we think, so I'm going to start out with a handful of my own questions before I...
