Thanks for posting. On a totaly and completely unrelated observations, is the Ronnie Teasdale mentioned in this story the same person who had an angry moment at the recent open? http://blogs.laweekly.com/informer/2012/07/crossfit_homeless_facebook_pictures.php FYI this is not a pleasant read.

Justin: I'd like to assume that lack of weight training isn't a problem at CFES.
Toggle Commented Jul 12, 2012 on Progression Is The Key at CFES Blog
OK, let's try this again. Ahem ... for certain people eating lots of protein doesn't build lean muscle because lack of protein is not the problem, it's lack of calories. Forget the ice cream. Eat more bacon and drink more beer.

Mike: I didn't take the ice cream recommendation seriously. I think the point is eat more calories (I'm guessing he meant carbs/fat calories, not more protein.)

On a totally unrelated topic, here's something I found interesting from a blog called "Critical MAS" Protein Powder – Pure garbage. The limiting factor in gaining muscle is not protein. It is calories. I only wish I have figured this out years ago. I’ll be doing a separate post on this topic. In the meantime, if you are a young ectomorphic male, don’t waste your money on this crap. Buy ice cream instead. I’m not kidding. http://criticalmas.com/2012/07/thinking-about-supplements-2012-edition/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=thinking-about-supplements-2012-edition

Justin: interesting. I had never thought about doing box pushups ("piking.")

Well it was fun, right? The bruises will fade, but the memory of the bruises! Thanks Sabrina, Mike and Nick. Jsully: best wishes in SF! See you at the last best place (that's Montana, for those who didn't know.)

Roger: best insults to lay on a fellow CFer: 1) I've Rx'd more WODs by accident then you have on purpose! 2) I've got chunks of guys like you in my stool! 3) Here, let me carry that for you. 4) My comfort zone is where your workout ends. 5) Oh, sorry I didn't see you standing there. Here let me help you up. 6) "What is best in life? -To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women." Nice post. Well, gotta go get hydrated. Then maybe a nap. Cheers, Scott

speak of runs, check this out: http://squattypotty.com/ CrossFit everywhere takes on a new meaning.
I may, or may not, be able to pass any given particular fitness test. But the most important thing is -- do I understand how to scale?

OK, I can't help but post this quote: "There is no good reason for the vast majority of people to ever perform an exercise explosively. Outside of competitive lifters it offers nothing of value over exercises performed at more controlled speeds and carries a greater risk of injury." It's from a guy named Andrew Baye, which I found in the comments on this post (which Sean posted the other day): http://www.thedreamlounge.net/crossfit-injury/#comment-197512 For what it's worth, my response (generally, not specifically) is here: http://libernetics.com/writings/?p=1635

Blake: nice post. informative. you're tall, and I get the point about tall being a disadvantage in some exercises. but you don't have "chicken legs" and "eel arms". Right now I'm guessing you are at about 180#. Which is a good place to be at your height. Cheers.
