Interesting and I believe to be aucurate to a point. As I under stand history the US economy really took off after the late 1940's around 1949 when the Federal Government stoped the programs of FDR's Adminstration. The employment figures in the private sector support this conclusion, again to a point !?

The OBAMA CHRONICLES
George Orwell begins his book '1984' with 'It was bright cold day in April and all the clocks were striking thirteen'. Right away you know you are in different world." The Obama World.

New York Times Censored Comments
It is a mystery why a great newspaper like the New York Times which should be a beacon for individual liberty and liberal philosophy has become nothing more than a 'front' for the corrupt public employees, unions and partisan politics.

Bill to Ban Open Carry
We as a Nation must follow the US Constitution. Especially, elected officials as yourself. Unfortunately, the reverse is true. It is the elected and appointed public employees that are most at fault in ignoring the Constitution or making laws, rules and regulations that diminish or cause some guarantees to be useless to void.

Hate Crimes or Mind Control !?
George Orwell was correct in many ways in his book 1984 regarding the incessant public mind control. It's arrival was just a little latter than 1984.

This for That
The 'imbalance of power' is that public employees negotiate with other public employees for the mutual benefit of each other. It would be better described as a 'quid pro quo' and not a negotiation of any kind in the true sense of the word.

Madam Speaker
And, as a last thought Madam Speaker, if you, the President or Congress feel this 'Great White Father Complex' overwhelming your common sense; please think of the Native Americans and reservations; think of black families in inner cities; think of single moms married to the government; think of the many family units without a real 'father' living in the household. Please just think.

Mr. Grossman,
Thank you for your input. Education is a continuing process. However, I am immediately suspect when you mention Tea Party which has nothing to do with Cesar Chavez and this post regarding the public education system's failure to educate. The quotes contained and the newspaper accounts were long before there was a Tea Party and Tax Protest movement in it's present form. However, you make some good points but they do not negate the content of this post. I personally believe Cesar Chaves was much smarter than you seem to give him credit. Your version paints Chavez as a confused man that may have sold out his union to the growers. Again, the point is public education teaches little to nothing about Cesa Chavez or Martin Luther King Jr....Mostly what students know is there is a holiday or a celebration. A reason to protest or not to go to school.
"Cesar Chavez Day gives us a chance to work hard to help those in need, just like Cesar Chavez did for his whole life,” said Keely Blissmer, 10. Well said for a 10 year old. Chavez did work hard, for a just cause, his whole life. Much, much more than most of us can say. And, for that reason alone we should honor the complete man. Not, just the politically correct social engineered version of Cesar Chavez Day. (from a previously published commentary by Lightfoot Letters).

Cesar Chavez a fierce opponent of illegal immigration
"The sainted labor leader (Chavez) was unalterably opposed to legalizing undocumented workers. It is dishonest for immigration reform advocates to invoke his name in their cause. The historical record shows that Chavez was a fierce opponent of illegal immigration" *Ruben Navarrette Jr. "We native American Indians are offended and appalled by Hispanic Immigrants who attempt to erase the history of our indigenous native people and replace it with a pack of lies.

Good points all. But, I'm not sure that we are behind England in transferring money around until it eventually gets to public employees somewhere. An Air Resources Board district in California was fined 23 million by the Federal Government for a 2 hour violation. Now the Air Resources Board wants to add a surcharge tax to all cars and drivers in the area. And nothing was done for the environment as usual. But, a lot of cash changed hands and will continue to do so.
