Wow, good going ! I seem to spend more time thinking about knitting than actually doing it :)
Love the cowl, it's been in my faves for a while.
the omaha report: knitting along
even though i've spent a fair amount of my time this week in omaha snuggling or just staring at my sweet new nephew... ...i've managed to get a lot of knitting (and crocheting) done as well. i finally finished up the hoarfrost (pattern or rav link) that i started in march. which is good, sin...
Oh wow, how fantastic is that colour ? I've never heard of violet jam but my Grandmother used to crystalize them - paint them with egg white and them dip them in sugar, then leave to go hard - beautiful !
violet jam
The backyard violets have been more than just gracing cakes at home this spring season. There's violet syrup in the fridge. And...now we have jam too! I'd never made - or even tasted - violet jam until last week. But all those pretty purple flowers (that Adelaide can't stop herself from...
Now that's my kind of day !!!
report from my first fiber festival!
yesterday i headed up to lake elmo, mn with my two heathers, heather(1) and heather(a), to the shepherd's harvest sheep and wool festival. it was my very first fiber festival and i had a blast! there was fiber there in every conceivable stage of fiber-ness, all in it's wonderfully-wooly glory...
Oh, it sounds like it's going to be a wonderful day, congratulations !
My wedding dress came from Monsoon too and our wedding was very inexpensive - if I could turn the clock back I wouldn't do it any differently.

Wedding Update - the story so far...
Photo credit: well, I forget who took it, but it wasn't me!! I had to include it though, as it was taken at my friend's wedding, in Rome, the day after Tim proposed - a holiday never forgotten! Tim and I are really on a countdown now - just over 5 months until Friday 15th October when we wil...
That is the cutest little thing ever ! I love crocheting mini animals :)
wheep! wheep!
i don't know if i've mentioned our guinea pigs on the blog before or not, but we have two - petunia & leaf. petunia is the grey one, she's 10 mo old and leaf is the two-toned cowlicked one, she's only 5 weeks old! (claire's been asking for updated pictures of leaf, so here you go clairey!) w...
Ohhhh, that is so gorgeous - really beautifully done :)
more knit-love for blks
i'm not sure how this project slipped by my blog-radar... i gave this little dress to lindesy for blks back in february at our sandwich olympic meetup, and it made it to ravelry, but somehow missed getting a blog post. i'm here now to rectify that situation because i love this pattern so much i ...

picnic
My fave vintage blanket was put to good use for a few sunny hours by the river Dart. See that CC41 utility mark ? For a 70 yr old it’s doing well. The dogs were as good as gold, happy to just soak up the rays, ever alert for cheese falling out of rolls mind you…. Spot that knitting ? ...

Oh how I love that moment Steve captured. I've had (and have) many like that too. Knitting and cuddling, can't get much better :)
{this moment}
{this moment} - A new semi-regular Friday ritual I've been thinking about. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the ...
Hey ! Happy 5 too! Looks like we had a very similar time :) Love all of the crafting you incorporated into the party.
five
last week lily turned five and this past weekend we threw a little party to celebrate. i tried to keep things small, homemade and simple, while still giving her 5th birthday the hoopla it was due. she only invited four friends so i was able to hand-make the invitations (they were inspired by th...
Glad you like it :) Love the cowl, I'm just off to check out the pattern.......
my brooklyn cité
for a while now a desire to wrap lacy handknits around my neck has been growing and growing in my mind (kate,i am holding you completely responsible by the way). when i saw the cité pattern by anne hanson (pattern or rav link) i knew that i had found not only my leaping off point for my growing ...

A long way to go ..
This little gal has a long way to go... she is off on her travels across the pond today. I had a commission from a lovely lady in America, who has a fondness for a 'circus elephant' .. :) So off she goes to pastures new... Sweet little Elly. and while this brood snooze the day awa...
With the rest of my family recovering from the cold from hell, I've got a horrible feeling that I may need this in the near future. You know how the Mum always comes down with the bug after mopping everybody elses brow............and then just has to get on with it by herself......!!!
This may come in very handy - thankyou ;)
Hope you are all recovering now ?
short, sweet and spicy
We'll keep it short and sweet this week, because we've been felled. What did it, I can't say for sure. The snowball fights, maybe. The snow-shoveling, possibly. Snow-eating, whole roly-poly fists full, well yeah, probably didn't help. (Not that I wouldn't do it all over, in a heartbeat. ...
Wow, how amazing to see that. Well worth getting up and out that early !
Catching the Olympic Spirit!!!
One thing I admire about Canadians, especially Vancouverites, is that we do things rain or shine. This morning it was pouring rain and we headed out with the kids at 6:45 am to see the Olympic torch, which actually came right into our neighborhood. It was amazing, not only to see the ...
We have one of those too! Great, aren't they. We have spent many an evening cosied up reading under there. I put up some thin muslin curtains around the bottom too for even more cosiness :)
Love your star lights too.
Cozy Place
Beneath my bed, a place to laugh and wrestle, a place to read, a place to cozy up together, day and night. On rainy weeks, I tend to focus on inside projects. We bought a loft bed for Megan from Ikea and after being inspired by this photo in the catalogue, I created the same kind of...
So sorry for your loss, thinking about you all..(((x)))

Mildred Evelyn Gile Robash Sawyer May 4, 1924 -January 17, 2010 Words and images about and inspired by this very special lady are scattered through everything I write and photograph. Her presence and influence in my life has - and will continue to - touch everything I do. I feel so blessed to...
Gorgeous mittens (and yarn), love that pattern.....you are giving me ideas !
baby it's cold inside
i am often surprised how cold my hands can get while i'm knitting. i mean wouldn't you think the movement and the proximity of all that yarn would keep my fingers warm? finally deciding to do something other than marvel at how cold my fingers were, i set out to make a pair of fetchings (patte...

Are we all winding down? Or all winding UP?!
Hello! Anyone out there? Are you all very busy, like me, in the lead up to Christmas? And........................ how come wrapping gifts takes so long? So shall I get on with the business of today? The business of a knitted sweater, one of the two sweaters and one jacket I have knitted this...

for Papa - 2009-2010
Papa just got his 2009-2010 hat! (New here? It's a tradition! Check it out - 2008, 2007, 2006). I wanted to make something different for Steve this year - nine years into this annual hat knitting gig and I've kind of covered a lot of terrain - ribs, stripes, simple cables. Not to mention the...
This post brings a warm fuzziness to my heart. I so love this time of year....and the pulling on of cozy hand knits for the first time :)
celebrating autumn :: in wool
Hip, Hip Hooray - it's time for wool! Well, really it's always time for wool...but now it's really time for wool! Wool tights, wool socks, wool sweaters, hats, and scarves. Blankets and diaper covers. Wool on my needles. And this week, the ceremonious washing of the winter ...

I love these mitts. I so enjoyed knitting these. I used some of my hand spun Bluefaced Leicester and they are soft as a dream. The lacy cuffs need a bit of blocking to reveal the full beauty………….love, love, love :)
