The Thing is really great, is not about Ben Grimm
Anne and I saw The Thing last night. tl;dr: I thought it was great. It's a prequel to the 1982 John Carpenter movie, which is one of my favorite movies of all time, and easily the best Sci-Fi/Horror film ever made. Normally, I would flat out refuse to see it, because I thought it was a remake/r...
Wheaton beer label t-shirts. 'Nuff said.
in which my son and i bottle our beer
I walked down the hallway toward the guest room, and started talking before I got to the door. "Hey, I just looked at my calendar, and I miscalculated when we should bottle our beer." I stepped off the wood floor of the hallway and onto the soft carpet we just had installed. I involuntarily squi...
I would laff loud & long @ your new oldness if I wasn't way older than you. Have a happy!
Spock is not impressed that it's my birthday
During w00tstock last week, I mentioned that I was turning 38 this week. After the show, Anne told me that I was, in fact, turning 39. In the few seconds that it took me to do some math, I lost a year of my life. Apparently, this is the sort of thing that happens when you get to be my age, which...
You share your burfday w/Ken Burns, Elizabeth Dole, Peter Jennings, David Warner & Benito Mussolini. Yay!?
It's my birthday!
And I am having the best birthday, ever! Thank you to everyone who has wished me happy birthday on the Twitters, and if July 29th is your birthday too, happy birthday to you! (Image by Chuck Gamble, found at WIRED's GeekDad blog.)
Enjoyed EWW2 - keep up the good work.
Would like to see more. Perhaps one day Sheldon & EWW can team-up against a common foe.
The Wheaton Recurrence
It's Sunday afternoon as I write this. I can't publish this manually, because if I've read my call sheet correctly, I'm currently playing Dr. Isaac Parrish on Eureka. If we're on schedule, I'm working in a scene with Erica, Colin, and Neil. If my experience on the show so far is any indication, ...

Reader Brian B. sent me this yesterday, and it made me smile so much, I secured permission to share it. "The Twelve Days of Pirate Christmas" On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me ... 12 ships to plunder, 11 cannons firing, 10 crewmen leaping, 9 sharks a' swimming, 8 rum-...

Wil,
Didn't know that gay marriage was a threat to "traditional" marriage. I always thought it was the 50% plus divorce rate.
Congrats, George & Brad!
congratulations, george and brad!
I've known George Takei and Brad Altman forever, it seems. I've never seen one without the other, and they're two of the most obviously in love with each other people I've ever been around. So I want to take a moment to congratulate them both on their marriage this weekend. It sounds like it was...

"All In Against Scleroderma" works for me.
charity poker tourney in santa monica this weekend
My friends who own Fleet Street Games are sponsoring a charity poker tournament this weekend in Santa Monica. It's called All-In for Scleroderma. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Why in the world would I go all-in for scleroderma? Doesn't scleroderma suck?" Yes, yes it does, but "All In To Hel...

Rich Stevens, the criminal mastermind behind Diesel Sweeties, is a friend of mine. And you, Governor Sarcastic Liar, are no Rich Stevens! Um. What? Sorry. Let's try that again. Ahem. Rich is the greatest 8-bit character drawing guy man dude in this quadrant. His 8-bit creations hold up the w...

@wilw: TSA tases Loggins. McCoy examines him, turns to Messina & says, "He's dead, Jim." - 12:54 PM May 09, 2008 from web in reply to wilw.
Twitter probably reminds you, as it does me, of my days of sitting in a room w/friends, riffing off each other & writing sketch comedy.
Good times.
even more fun with twitter
If you don't follow me on Twitter, you missed this trio of Tweets on Friday: wilw @ 09:06 AM May 09, 2008 Kenny Loggins was at the ticket counter near me. The girl checking me in was early 20s and had no idea why her cow orkers were so excited. wilw @ 09:12 AM May 09, 2008 I was unable to see if...

Lego Wesley didn't have an annoying robot pal in every episode.
Lego Wesley's doctor loved him & didn't try to kill him in every episode.
Lego Wesley can send you to the cornfield just by thinking about it.
Lego Wesley & The Traveler had separate motel rooms.
Lego Wesley knows it's just a streetlight.
Introducing Lego Wesley Crusher
This was given to me as a gift at the Phoenix Comicon. Isn't it cool? Sometimes, I sit here and look at it, and I'm tempted to call up my friends and say, "Hey, I was just wondering if you have a customized Lego figure of your Star Trek character on your desk." Then I realize how pathetic th...

The Wil owes The Anne big time during all this. Big time!
Perhaps a long weekend of pampering or a big toy? Ask her.
Best wishes as you awaken from your nostrilic nightmare.
notice whom for wheels are turning
Yesterday, I woke up feeling about 50% of normal. It's the closest I've felt to normal since I went in for surgery, so it was a huge improvement. I got all the way up to about 70% by the late afternoon, but was back down to 50% by the time I went to bed. I feel pretty much the same, this morning...

I missed the moonar eclipse, but this photo makes up for it - I can see Uranus.
Sorry.
Happy clotting & healing!
in a room without a window in the corner
I saw the doctor yesterday, and he used that thing from Total Recall to suction about 90 pounds of extremely disgusting stuff out of my head. (Please note that certain aspects of these reports may be exaggerated for various reasons, mostly because I find them amusing.) He told me that I have to ...

When I had double hernia surgery 'bout 3.5 yrs. ago, they inserted a defective computer chip in me & I pick up all kinds of static from the CIA.
Hope your implant is a significantly improved version & doesn't keep you awake.
Get better . . . stronger . . . faster soon.
just nod if you can hear me
I spent the last four days in Bat Country, while recovering from major sinus surgery. I'll spare the gory (and oh my god are they gory) details, but when all this packing comes out of my sinuses on Tuesday, I can look forward to not snoring all night and waking up with a skull crushing sinus hea...

Clinton, Obama, Kucinich . . . the Democratic candidate lineup looks like the bridge of the Enterprise.
The Republican grouping looks like the cast of "Cocoon".
I'm keeping the "Wheaton-Takei '08" bumper sticker on my car.
not that my endorsement means much of anything, but . . .
