One of my best friends died of cancer at age 25. And recently one of my old high school friends sent me a message on Facebook saying, "Hey, whatever happened to Ryan? Why isn't he on Facebook?" and there I am with my daughter on my lap, but I'm also sitting in a hospital room 15 years ago whispering goodbye, and I'm tearing up and can't catch my breath, and, damn, it never really goes away, does it?
