Hi Fred, Your blog today has made me stop and re think the whole purpose of our station streams. Clients for the most part don't see the value in this fragmented online streaming audience - they'd rather cast a broader net and buy on-air; not the online stream. Makes sense to me to place a new, different focus on our streams rather than mimic what we're already doing on-air.

Bill Gates once said, "Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning." Enjoyed today's blog - these are important things to consider and start working on.
Thank you Chris and will get the invite out now. Looking forward to seeing you on Google Plus. :)

Hi Keith, No frosted pop-tarts dispensed from your computer? That was funny. With 750 million users on Facebook, Google knows it will take time to win over the hearts and minds of Facebook loyalists. I think for right now Google+ has impressed us tech and social types. It's easier to use, more sensitive in the area of "grouping people" (not groping -lol) and a big opportunity for brands to be there first. With Facebook, people were there first and brands are somewhat "invading" their space. With Google+ - this could be a whole new branding dimension. We'll see.
Danny, Thank you for taking the time to give your input. I agree with you 100%. Zuckerberg may be acting like Google isn't onto anything in the public but behind closed doors he's smart enough to be on Google+ right now studying the platform. As you said, "Don't get comfortable."
I really enjoyed today's blog Fred. My favorite part is when you said, "I hate myself for admitting it, but I check my Klout score around monthly..." Klout is nothing but an opportunist trying to cash in on validation needs some people have. You are a great writer and one of the most influential radio people of all time. That is fact and Klout, being the gimmick it is, will never be able to relay that to people who need to know that. Fun Blog!

Thank you J.J., Buzz, Brent and Tim for the comments. It's really great reading everyone's take. Citing a study from Amadeus IT Group SA and IdeaWorks Co, The Wall Street Journal reported that airlines increased revenue by a total of almost $22 billion last year through adding special fees to ticket sale and Spirit Airlines was one of the top airlines to benefit from this growth. I'd say their marketing is a 'business' coup as much as a 'buzz' coup :)

Great thoughts Wholesale Jerseys. I agree with you that it's a tough industry to stand out in. Spirit has found a way to do just that and stay in business. Hi Scott! I agree with your guess of Spirit Airlines being the most 'complained about' airlines within its industry. I remember the morning show I worked on at 98ROCK/Tampa was hands down the most complained about radio show in perhaps the history of Tampa radio yet we dominated the airwaves every ratings period. Funny how that sometimes works out for brands isn't it :) Thank you for your input!

Hi Joel!! In a world where it's 'hard' to stand out and cut through the clutter, I too stand behind Spirit's email marketing campaigns. I do agree with Tim that there is a line where you can go too far but the Weiner sale didn't cross it for me. Funny stuff :)

I wanted to share Michael Brandvold's response to my question of him being at The Conclave this year. Michael left this on the Jacobs Media Facebook page: "Thank you Lori, looking forward to meeting you as well. Minneapolis is my hometown so it will be nice to get home and see family." I agree Michael! I remember sending an email to a well know social media 'expert' and his assistant sent me an email telling me "he doesn't have time to read the email right now but thank you for submitting" Can you believe that? Funny... I admire your work Michael. Looking forward to meeting you at The Conclave?

That made me laugh JJ - probably because I used to be one of those PD's that thought my station was on the top of the list of the important things in my listeners lives. *clearing throat* I was wrong. We get so caught up in our return on investment do we ever consider our consumers return on their investment?

You are right on Danny! If I were still running my radio station today - I'd be hoping all of my competition (direct and indirect) were idle on Twitter and not responding on FB - We only limit our opportunities to be chosen when we are not present - physically or virtually right? Always so good to hear from you ;)

Thank you Danny! You are right on! Demonstrate that you care and you'll have a longer lasting relationship. Same as in life :)
Congratulations once again on winning 'Consultant of the Year' at the All Access Worldwide Radio Summit this year!
