You're right about Harriet Miers. A woman who went to public school, worked her way through SMU, became te first female hired at her firm, went on to be managing partner of a 400-lawyer firm, where she was a well-known commercial litigator, was later elected the first female president of the State Bar of Texas, practiced law for 25 years, and served as White House Counsel, was patently unfit.
No, what you really want is somebody whose parents could send her to the right elite private schools, whose private legal experience seems to be limited to writing memos at a law firm where she couldn't make partner, who's never appeared before a judge, and who's spent the great majority of her career in rarefied air of elite academia, where in 15 years she's managed to produce about six substantive articles that seem to have left almost no impression on anyone's mind. Like, say, Elena Kagen. Now there's a diverse candidate for you.
