The words to live by are "relax, don't worry, have a homebrew." or RDWHAHB, which sounds like one of Cthulu's cousins to be quite honest. Of course since this is your first brew you might have to buy a beer or two ;-). Learning to homebrew is an improvement process, but it never turns out as bad as you think it will, it's almost always tasty and good in the end and you get better with practice.
