Hi Everyone! I must say I have been extremely bad about keeping up with the blog. Seems forever that I have posted! I always say that I'm going to do better but it just never seems to happen. Where does the time go?! I just returned from the CHA convention and I'm super inspired by all the new collections and products. New home decor ideas filled the booths at the show and I'm very excited to be doing some kits with the home decor theme. Yes, I will continue to design mini albums and layouts as I know how much all of you love them, there just may not be a new mini album every month. If there is something you would love to see in the wood decor, please let me know. For this months release we have a spring and Easter layout, and a space layout. I love the colors and playful look of these layouts and they are just in time for the spring season. There must be a baby boom at the moment because the baby kits have been extremely popular right now. Good news! We have restocked the baby kits for the third time! That's a lot of baby kits!! This will be the last restock so get them while they are available. Thanks for stopping by!! Continue reading

Last week I hopped on a plane headed for Milwaukee, Wisconsin! Being a Cali girl all my life I'm so used to one season...hot! When I commented about this to one of the attendees, someone else popped in and said, "yes we do! We have fire season and drought season!" Yes! That we do!! We flew in over Lake Michigan and as the plane started inland it was so green and all the trees were the beautiful colors of fall. It was breath taking as I don't get to admire this kind of beauty too often. Guess what I took tons of photos of...trees!! And guess what, the trees must get quite cold, because Milwaukee knits sweaters for their trees! Seriously!! I was so honored to be part of Designer Day for the 2016 She Loves Color event hosted by Bella Blvd. There were over 150 attendees who came from all over (from Puerto Rico to Alaska) for this colorful, fun-filled event. And fun we had!!! I taught three classes throughout the day, two mini albums and a two page layout. I finally had the pleasure of meeting so many of you after chatting with you online over the years as well as meeting so many new scrappy friends. Everyone was so wonderful and I completely felt like a celebrity!! I also have to give a huge shout out and thank you to Debbie and Judy, two of my workers who volunteered to join me on this trip and help in my classes. They were awesome and made my day of teaching less stressful. I would have been the crazy lady without them! Ha!Ha! The next few days consisted of opening ceremonies, keynote speakers, six two and a half hour classes with industry-leading educators, crop time, make n takes, a local bazaar, an on-site scrapbooking store, tons of giveaways, and a closing ceremony with some tearful goodbyes. Yes! It was that awesome!! It was so wonderful to see attendees that came alone be welcomed into groups that attended together. Everyone left with their hearts inspired, luggage filled, tons of memories, and new friends! What could be better than that?! Oh, I forgot...and just a tad bit exhausted! Lucky me, I did get to sight-see a bit! Milwaukee is beautiful this time of year! And the food...DELISH!!! And what is Milwaukee known for....CHEESE!!! And cheese I ate!!! Lots of it!! Have you ever had cheese curds?! OMG!!! Super yummy, right?! This was my first time to try them, so I ate them for every meal! Really, I did!! Along with beer cheese soup, mac n cheese, and grill cheese sandwiches. We walked the river front, the lake front, visited the Third Ward and ate more yummy food at the Milwaukee Market...which, by the way, had a yummy bakery so I ate cookies for every meal too! Good thing we walked a lot! I even got a selfie with the Fonz!! Definitely a highlight! LOL! It was an amazing four days! To... Continue reading

Hello!!! I'm back from vacation!! Every year since I was a little girl I have spent my summers on Lake Pend O'reille in Idaho. Every summer mom and dad would load all of us up into our orange van... all seven of us...and make the long road trip to Island View Trailer Park where we camped with my grandparents in their Silver Streak travel trailer. Looking back, I'm really not sure how we all fit, but we managed! We spent our days on the lake fishing, playing in the water, or picking huckleberries, and the nights were filled with board games, feeding the deer, and sleeping under the stars. As the years passed, my grandparents bought a small home and retired on the lake and now my parents have retired on the lake as well. Grandpa passed away at the age of 96 just a few years back and now grandma will soon be 96. After grandpa passed away she is no longer living in her home but the house is still there. As we pass by it on the lake, I remember all the fond memories we had in that little house. This lake is my home away from home! I'm so blessed that every summer we can come together as a family here. I'm so thankful for the memories we have created, the moments we share, and the memories we will continue to make in the years to come. Just as I have grown up on this lake, so have my children, and hopefully someday they will share it with their children. Although they didn't get to experience the Silver Streak trailer, they have the same fond memories of the days and nights on the lake. This is Grandma. She is almost 96 years young! I feel so blessed that I was able to spend another summer with her. Let's get to the release, shall we!? This months release is so fitting for my vacation photos. I can't wait to add some to this adorable little bear album. I love the retro look of this outdoors collection from Carta Bella. I added some pine greenery and plenty of woodsy extras to add the perfect touches to this album. And here is a look at the two page layout... Both of these kits are perfect for road trips, fishing, hiking, scouting, camping and all your outdoor fun. And to make things easier, both kits are pre cut, ready to assemble, and include full color instructions. Do you have any fun summer vacations planned? Thanks for stopping by!! Continue reading

The last baby kits sold out so quickly! So many of you were disappointed and I want to make it up to you. So here it is....coming soon!!! Another baby boy and baby girl release! I was a so excited when I went to my special treasure hunting place and found the same lace collars that I had used on the last baby release. This is one of those places if I don't get what I can when I see it, it will be gone the next time. Guess it was meant to be and they even had the perfect blue color for the boy baby album. I must say, I think this one came out every bit as adorable as the last one. These precious little books will be available on the website July 1st. And I promise, the quantities are larger this time but don't delay because I think there has been a ton of "sweet new arrivals" lately! And guess what....have you stopped by the website lately? We got a facelift!!! It was time for a new look and I'm loving the changes!!! Stop by and let me know what you think! Happy scrapping! Julie Save Continue reading

Happy Memorial Day everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Just stopping in to show you a look at the June 1st release. Our first release is patriotic themed and I must say I'm in LOVE with the pin up girls in this collection!! This mini album was designed to focus more on our military and the Americana theme in general which makes it a very versatile collection. The sentiments were thoughtfully selected to honor the service men and women, their families and America the beautiful! The front cover can be changed to the different branches of service; Navy, Air Force, and Army, or a patriotic themed card. Here is a look at the two page layout... Our second release is all about travel. I love the vintage icons, imagery, and old world maps in this collection. It's so nostalgic!! And what about the globe on the front cover...so perfect for this theme, right?!!! This is a great album for documenting travel by train, plane, boat and more. And here again is the two page layout... This collection really makes me want to take a fabulous vacation somewhere! How about you?! These kits are currently available on the website. I wanted to get the release out a bit early because I will be attending a scrap retreat this upcoming weekend. Guess what I will be working on!? Future kits!! My goal is to design an extra kit this month and it's going to be another baby release! I am going to do my very best to get all the current orders shipped out prior to leaving for the retreat on Friday, June 3. Shipping will resume on Monday when I return. Thanks so much for stopping by and happy scrapping to you!! Continue reading

For about the last month I have been playing "party stylist" for my sister in laws 50th birthday party. She requested the look of Kate Spade and wanted the theme for the night to be, "She leaves a little sparkle wherever she goes!" So Kate Spade, right!? She wanted the tables to be beautiful and she wanted a dessert table...but nothing fancy! How can you do Kate Spade with out being FANCY?! My thought...well, I guess we could go simple. Cover the tables with black and white stripe overlays and add some flowers...Done! Makes my life easy since I'm always way behind schedule. BUT, this just isn't me! I did tell myself that I needed to keep it some what simple because I didn't have my time with running the business, but I wanted the evening to be special and beautiful. One thing lead to another and I had all these ideas running through my head...we can do this, oh, and what about doing that, and OMG! this would look awesome!! Again, I had no time for this!! One side of my brain was saying, stop making more work for yourself! The other side was saying, oh what the heck, that won't take much time and I'm superwoman! And, my thought was, we will just rent everything! Good idea! NOT!! Have you ever tried to rent a dessert table back drop? I'm in the wrong business, because I could not find one...at least not the kind I was looking for. So, after a month of no sleep, this is how the party turned out.... This was the party favors. Each box was filled with chocolates. I die cut two separate tags using black and white striped paper and gold paper. I printed thank you tags on cardstock and punched them out using a paper punch. I kept them simple for a classic Kate Spade look. She wanted something with her "sparkle" theme for the flowers. Have you seen those gold script cake toppers? This is my take on those. I used my Cameo by Silhouette to cut out the phrases for each of the center pieces using gold glitter cardstock. I even reversed the image so the back side was also gold glitter paper. I had to cut 26 of these!! Can you say tedious! But I LOVED them, they were soooo sparkly! I glued them to a stick and placed them in the centers of each of the table centerpieces. These pink straws were stinkin' adorable! I die cut the bows, of course out of gold glitter cardstock, assembled each bow, and then glued them to a straw. Champagne glasses were placed at each table setting. We added just a bit of pink cotton candy in the bottom of each glass to hold the straw in place. And the champagne turns pink when poured into the glass...so cute!! Here are a few photos of the overall table settings. We folded up each of the napkins and then placed the... Continue reading

Phew! I have been so busy that this post is kind of better late, than never! My sister in law celebrated her 50th birthday on Saturday, Kate Spade style. Guess who designed and planned all the decorations and details for the party? Yep, yours truly!! So yes, these past few months I have been a very busy girl! I will be sure to share all the party decor with you in a few days. For now, I want to show you a look at the April release... First up is this beautiful mini album designed using the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection from Crate Paper. I LOVE the gold glitter embellishments and the bright colors!! It's so trendy! I must say this album looks so much prettier in person as you just can't see how this album sparkles from the photos. You can never have too much sparkle, right!? So, I added even more with some gold buttons, trims, a zipper, and extra little treasures. Take a look at the pink lace on the cover...to die for, right!? Seriously, this album is just so pretty!! Here is a look at the inside pages because I know you want a peek at those too! Don't you just love it?! There will be a layout kit as well, hopefully coming next month. But, I didn't forget about all the layout kit lovers. We have a few for you. This first kit is so adorable for all your on the go travels. I love that it's so versatile. Bella Blvd. never disappoints with their bright colorful collections and cute embellishments. Those little cars are just uber cute!! Next, is a dad/boy/masculine layout designed using the Pinstripes collection from Echo Park Paper. With all the feminine collections on the market, it's always great when we get to see a masculine collection. This collection has a 12x12 sticker sheet that has plenty of masculine phrases, but, notice I didn't use them!! Why!? Because, I could totally see this layout being used for many other ideas and themes. It would make a great travel page and I even had someone say they were going to use it as a Disney themed layout. Great idea, huh!? And last, I love this faith based collection from Bella Blvd. and Illustrated Faith. She Blooms is so colorful and I love the watercolor look of the papers. If you look close enough you may even be able to see that the base pages are splattered with yellow paint. And yes, this is already done for you with this kit. Grab a pen and add some doodling to give this layout that touch of detail. For further details and information hop on over to the website. Thanks for stopping by!! And remember, if you're in need of some Kate Spade party ideas, check back in a few days! Continue reading

My scrap weekend was a success!! It's really the only time I can be completely focused on the task at hand; designing future kits! I am a social scrapper, although for the most part I do design alone because it's my business and well, I can't go on scrap weekend every weekend, right?! A scrap weekend once a month sounds like heaven! I love the company and having conversation. There is usually about 20 of us that attend these weekends. Some go to bed early and rise early and some stay up most of the night and sleep longer during the day. Me, I sleep very little!! I think my brain just knows that I'm on scrap weekend and so it just automatically goes on overload. I stay up all night with the late scrappers into the wee hours of the morning...usually about 5:30...and then sleep a couple hours and get back up with the early morning scrappers. The usual comment from everyone is...did you even go to sleep?! Sleep? Who needs sleep...it's scrap weekend! Oh, but trust me, there is lots of coffee happening here too! And lets not forget all yummy food and snacks! This past weekend I actually went with a new group of ladies. It was so nice to meet new creative friends and we all are looking forward to our next scrap weekend. One of the albums I designed uses the new Little One collection from Crate Paper. I love this collection because it's not your average looking "baby" collection. I love the retro embellishments and gold glittered accents. I added more gold buttons and trim to really give this album some sparkle. It's sooooo adorable!! I didn't get the baby girl album quite finished so I will be sure to post picks when it's completed. Thanks for stopping by! Continue reading

I have been quite the slacker at keeping up with the blog, haven't I?! I will be working on this, I promise! So, right now I'm scrapping away designing future kits on a four day scrap retreat. I love my scrap weekends; fun times with friends with lots of laughs, gabbing and eating. It's one big slumber party! But, can any of you relate to getting ready for a scrap retreat? OMG! What do I need to pack, what do I need to NOT forget, and yes, I better bring this because you know I might need to use it, right?! Yep! This is me! I think it takes me an entire day to get packed. And this is the result.... An Explorer on overload!! And yes, the back seat is also packed. Who wants to know what I'm working on? Continue reading

Headed to CHA!!! I have seen so many new collections that I love but the You Are Here collection from Simple Stories is a huge favorite!!! So many fun embellishments! I can't decide which ones to get so I'm getting them all!!! But, I'm also trying to decide if I want to make a mini album or a snap binder album so I need your help in deciding. Let me know what you would like to see!? Sure makes me want to be in Paradise right now! Well, this may be a little bit of paradise! Continue reading

With so many detail elements such as stickers, bits & pieces, wood veneer shapes, ribbons, flowers, and more, you will be able to add the perfect detail to the album. And here is a look at the matching two page layout... Next up is this quick and easy project for your Valentine decorating. Add a little bit of "love" to your home or office with this adorable altered receipt holder. Thank you for stopping by! Wishing all of you a happy and blessed new year! Continue reading

Hi everyone! I think for the most part all the kiddos are back in school or very soon to be. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer vacationing somewhere amazing, spending some quality time with family and friends, or just finding some time to relax and enjoy life. Oh, and take lots of pictures, right?! Our releases this month are perfect for your outdoor summer photos as well as your back to school. Ready to see them..... First up is our newest custom album. Is this bear just the cutest ever!!?? I have been wanting to design with this collection for awhile now, but could never find the time to design the dies for the album. I finally told myself...just do it!! And here is what I came up with. The front cover is uber adorable!!! I always say, you can take the girl out of the scrapbooking room, but you can't take the scrapbooking out of the girl. My brain never shuts off and sometimes I see things and say...oh, that would be so cute to use for..... Can you relate? In spring I went on a backpacking trip with some of my family and knowing I had this collection on hand and I knew I wanted to use a real stick for the fishing pole. Once camp was set up, I was on a mission to collect enough sticks for this release. It took awhile, but I did it!! My sister and her husband thought I was a bit crazy because not only did I have to collect them, but I also had to strap them to my pack and carry them back down the mountain. It was worth it!!! I love how the cover turned out. But not only is the cover cute...you're going to also love the details on the inside; a canoe, a campfire, paddles, pine trees, pine greenery and pine cones. Tons of awesomeness!! And here is the super cute layout....I couldn't resist using the pine trees that I used in the album. You can even change the title using the alphabet stickers included with the kit. Next up, here is a school themed album just in time for back to school. It's perfect for documenting the current school year or highlighting some of your favorites from the past years. It also makes a perfect teacher's gift. And here is the two page layout. The title for the page can be customized to fit your needs using the alphabet stickers included with the kit. All of the kits are available on the website at http://www.paisleysandpolkadots.com/shop.html Thanks so much for stopping by!! Julie Continue reading

Hi Everyone! It's the middle of the month and the kits are already finished and ready to ship out on August 1st. I can't believe I'm actually ahead this month as I'm always playing catch up! I guess this is what happens when you know you are leaving on vacation. I'm one of those people that has to get everything done before leaving so that I can relax and not have to think about work while I'm gone. Please remember we will be closed from July 18th through July 31st. There will be NO SHIPPING during this time. Shipping will resume on Monday August 3rd. I will be answering emails periodically while I'm away. Every year I spend family time on the lake in Idaho, but this year is extra special because after six years without a vacation, my hubby finally gets to take time off from work and come with me. I'm so excited! Enough about me, want to see the releases!?... Our first release is called Rustic Elegance. I designed this for a wedding album, but it definitely doesn't have to be limited to brides and grooms. Pull off some of the wedding embellishments and this would make a beautiful album for all types of photos. I love the colors and flowers in this collection! The blush, sage, wood, and grey colors are so trendy right now. Adding in some gold touches here and there gives the album the perfect romantic touch. This album really is so much more beautiful in person. Here is a look at the inside pages... And here is the matching two page layout. I left off all wedding themed embellishments so the page would have versatility for other photos. Next we have a few extra layout kits this month. They are both designed using collections from October Afternoon. I can't get enough of their papers! The prints are always adorable. This pirate themed layout would be perfect for pirate parties, pirate school themes, beach days, cruising, or maybe your little swashbuckler loves to play dress up. You can never have too many summer layouts, especially layouts that can match any summertime fun. And last....we are FINALLY RESTOCKING the Magic Moments Disney albums and layouts! Thanks so much for stopping by!! Julie Continue reading

Or should I say, I GOOFED!!!! For those of you who purchased our current Rover Mini Album, there is a piece of paper that was cut incorrectly. It is the brown bone paper and the hole is on the wrong side. Below is an example of how you can easily fix this problem. I will always stand behind the quality of my kits and should you be unsatisfied with your kit, please contact me at info@paisleysandpolkadots.com and I will send you out a new piece of paper with the hole in the correct place. I sincerely apologize for the error and any inconvenience this may cause. This page can be found in bag #2. On the current instructions all the paper pieces are placed on the left side of the page. To cover the unwanted hole, place the paper pieces on the right side of the page as shown in the photo above . Use a 3/16 inch hole punch or a Cropadile to punch another hole on the left side of the page. Continue reading

Wow! I can believe another month has passed! I seem to get further and further behind...where does the time go! It seems summer is just around the corner and we are already preparing around here. So many fun summer releases are coming your way. The first one is releasing this month with a SUPER CUTE Ice cream truck mini album. One of America's great pastimes; chasing after the ice cream truck as a kid while it rolled down your block, after which you'd devour each scoop with friends on a hot summer day. Capture those sweet summer memories with this adorable mini album designed using the Soak Up the Sun collection from Carta Bella Paper. This unique shaped album measures approximately 9x9 and includes 6 custom shaped chipboard pages (12 pages front and back). This kit includes plenty of fun trims and extras not found in any other kit. Here is a look at the two page layout...perfect for all your summer memories! Next up it's time to celebrate! HAPPY EASTER! I have some important news regarding the April release. The kits will not be available on the website until Friday, April 3rd sometime in the afternoon. I will be sending out a newsletter on Friday announcing the release and all the details. Along with the new kits, we will also be restocking the Hippity Hoppity Easter Albums and the Faith, Hope, and Love albums. Thank you in advance for your patience. I know many of you are very excited for this next release. I am too!! I must say I have been covered in pixy dust for several weeks now! I have to keep you waiting for the release, but I won't keep you waiting for a look at what's coming. Every girl wants to be a princess! Capture all her princess moments from playing dress up, having tea parties, or visiting with all the princess' at Disneyland. I even thought this would be a cute album for a newly engaged princess who found her prince charming. There are so many possibilities with this album and the pictures just can't capture the bright colors and silver accents. You will love all the details; frames, wood veneer shapes, stickers, bits & pieces, trims on almost every page, ribbons, roses, and glittered tulle (hence the reason me, my office, and all my worker gals are covered in pixy dust). Here is the two page layout fit for any princess. Here are another two layouts. One perfect for all feminine themes and the other a masculine theme. Both layout kits include a pack a chipboard elements. For the masculine layout I used many of the boy phrases but the chipboard also includes many phrases for dad as well. Continue reading

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be showing you the March releases!! I absolutely LOVE them!! They are truly unique and "one of a kind!" When I received our new dies I couldn't wait to start designing. It's been a super busy month working overtime and then some prepping the kits and getting them ready for all of you. I know some of the kits sell out really fast so we prepared for this and increased the quantities for this months releases. But, I cannot promise they still won't sell out fast. Are you ready to see them??? This is the sweetest Easter album ever! Makes you want to eat some peeps, robin eggs, and jelly beans! This is another one of our newest custom shaped albums. Isn't the bunny cover just adorable? The whiskers add just the right touch and just to make things a bit easier we have already added the eyes to the face for you. You will also love the other custom shaped pages and the many little details this kit offers. Here is the two page layout kit...so cute for all your Easter photos. Our first Mouse & Co mini album was so overwhelming popular that we couldn't resist creating another MAGICAL album using the new Say Cheese II collection from Simple Stories. This kit is bigger and better with new custom shapes and tons of goodies. There was so many fun new embellishments for this collection that we couldn't decide on just a few so we had to include them all in this awesome kit; stickers, bits & pieces, wood veneer, and insta frames!! The pages of this album are layered with details and dimension and you will LOVE the black felt and gold foil accents. This kit truly is "one of a kind!" And here is a look at the two page layout... Here is one more two page layout...perfect for a communion or baptism. Hope you enjoyed stopping by! Julie Continue reading

Hi Everyone! Since attending the CHA convention, I have been re-inspired and ready to get my hands on all the new products. My mind is already whirling with ideas for new releases in the coming months. New products are on the way and new custom dies are in the works. And I CAN'T WAIT to show you!!!!! They are UBER CUTE!!! We have been extra busy this month with the release of six new kits...three new mini albums (and I must say one of them isn't so mini), two new page layout kits, and a fun and easy altered project for the home. First up, a heritage themed album and layout designed using the Legacy collection from Simple Stories. I have been waiting for a collection such as this. My grandfather passed away over a year ago and he was the best story teller. I'm going to add photos of him and his wonderful stories to this beautiful album so that my family can enjoy his stories in the years to come. Our second release is all about spirituality and Faith. I love the muted color palette of this beautiful Authentique collection. There are so many possibilities for this album; a baptism, first communion, confirmation, wedding, a women's bible study retreat with friends, or maybe even journaling your own spiritual walk with the Lord. This next mini album isn't so mini. The Story of Us tells your favorite love story; from your first date, to your wedding day, and the years beyond. This album includes 42 designed pages along with several custom shaped pages that have been added to the album to make a unique, one of a kind album. And here is a look at the two page layout...perfect for any love story. Last, I don't think we have ever done a home decor project, have we? Well this is our first. It's super easy and quick to put together. This is the new vintage receipt holder from the Mix the Media collection by Jillibean Soup. The kit includes an ephemera pack that is loaded with 53 different pieces. I actually still had plenty of extras after I finished the project. With the neutral color palette and generic pieces it's easy to add any type of photos and any theme. We have also included an extra pack of trims and twine to add just the right touches to your finished project. Design your project by following the image included with the kit or create something similar of your own. The possibilities are endless! Here is another example I created using a similar look but a bit more simple. I have recently taken up the hobby of back packing and these are a few of the photos taken on my cell phone. I thought they were perfect for this vintage holder. I don't get to too much scrapping done for myself, so these quick and easy projects were tons of fun and I have something beautiful that is handmade to... Continue reading

Hi everyone! Just stopping by to show you a look at the upcoming November 1st releases. But first, I have some exciting news to share!!! Have you visited the website lately? Well, we are making big changes to better serve you. The website has a new look, and with the new look comes more products. Many of you want to get your hands on our sold out kits...I know, I too wish we could restock, but when the product isn't available, this just isn't possible. But guess what...you have requested and we are listening! We are going to start offering past kit instructions as well as bare chipboard. Now you can create something similar on your own! Not all past kits will be available and we will be slowing adding chipboard and instructions to the website as time allows between our regular releases. But wait...there's more!! DIY projects are the rage right now...just visit Pinterest right? Life is busy and who has time to create? So, we are trying to make your life easier by bringing you some of these fun projects. This month we will be offering our first banner kit...and it's uber cute too!!! Ready to see what's coming...... First, we have brought back a favorite! You'll never forget your favorite holiday memories of sitting by the fire, opening gifts under the tree, or baking Christmas cookies with Grandma when you add your photos to our custom Christmas mini album. Next up is a two page layout...perfect for your holiday photos! We want to help relieve some of your holiday stress this season and who doesn't love receiving a handmade holiday card. And last, here is our newest kit...a Christmas banner!! I can't wait to hang this up...ok, I will be honest, it's so cute I just couldn't put it away after I designed it. Christmas decorating is starting a bit early this year! I know I say this a lot, but it's true...I appreciate each and every one of you and I love what I do. Creating kits is my passion! If you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know. I can't promise it will come available as I work around the collections from all the awesome manufacturers, but I will do my best.
