7DoS: The Sunny Sorbetto
What's 7 Days of Sorbetto? For seven days, I'm making a different top based on the free and downloadable Sorbetto Tank Top from Colette Patterns. After a name like The "Second-Rate" Sorbetto, I just had to give this one a cute and chipper name like The "Sunny" Sorbetto. The most signific...
Great job! The shirt looks fantastic, and I love the details and the story behind it. Well done! :-)

Because I'm not a total unreasonable taskmaster, the ladies who contribute to the Sew Weekly are allowed to sit out challenges from time to time. Adey's on vacation this week and instead of picking someone to replace her, I decided to ask the community for volunteers. The community, always think...

Oh Mena, you poor thing! 12 hours?!! :-(
The dress looks absolutely gorgeous on you, though! Hopefully after the pain of the fabric has died away you'll come to love it and wear it! (Or do something to the skirt issue so you can handle wearing it without always being conscious of the part you hate?!)
I've always wondered about sewing with chiffon - it just seems tricky, so I've steered clear of it, while wondering at the same time if I was being unfair on the fabric and maybe it wasn't all that hard to work with. After reading this, though, I think I'll be steering clear of chiffon for the rest of my life! Eek!

My one is here: http://macskakat.wordpress.com
I blog about my sewing adventures, which these days seem to largely be what I make as Sew Weekly challenges! (Plus some pattern and fabric finds thrown in for good measure.)
Your Blog Here
Help me (and the Sew Weekly readers) find new blogs to read! If you have a sewing/vintage/craft blog, please leave the address in the comments below. Even if you know I read you already, leave it. I want to have a master list to work from. And if you're a lurker, here's your chance to delurk.
Guess I'm a shark as well - as soon as I started reading about this challenge I was like, yeah, I wanna do that, too!!! Eep.
Can't wait to see what you make! :-)
Introducing The Seven in Seven Challenge
You know what they say about sharks? That unless they keep swimming, they die? Well, I'm a shark. If I don't have something overly-ambitious to keep myself busy, I start going a bit crazy. Well, here's my latest don't-go-crazy project: The Seven in Seven Challenge. What is it? In the course of...
Oh, this is so cute! And brings back memories of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie as well - we had one of those books when I was a kid, they're adorable stories and the illustrations are so lovely! Thanks for bringing backing those memories. :-)

I have a small collection of hankies, and used to carry them around. Not quite sure why I stopped carrying them, actually.....
My mother used to have a lovely carved wooden box, filled with hankies for her and my father, in all sorts of nice designs. I used to love looking through it when I was a kid, so I've always had a bit of a soft spot for hankies. :-)

I'm leaning towards simple and elegant. Long, simple at the front of the skirt with a bit of a fishtale/train at the back, either strapless (although that may not be allowed?) or with little cap sleeves.

I love the idea of wearing hats, but I'm too chicken to wear them sadly. :-(
Ask: 4/25/11
How do you feel about wearing hats? How far do you go with your hat wearing?
I know what you mean about the hat issue - I love the idea of wearing them, but haven't gotten up the courage yet! I figure I should get there soon though - I'm rather used to all the odd looks I get from wearing my brightly-coloured 1950's style dresses most days. Hats do just seem a bit scarier to wear in public though, don't they? Which is such a shame! :-(
Maybe we need to start up a 'wear a hat in public day'....

My project that I'm determined to do one day (ideally within the next 6 months - that's the time limit I'm setting myself for it!) isn't actually anything to do with sewing for a change - I want to learn to make basic furniture, and build a bookcase and a couple of sets of drawers myself! (Scary!)

I have a length of gorgeous silk chiffon, with gold metallic thread embroidered in spirals and loops all over it. And another length of silk chiffon, this time with purple, blue, silver and green sequins in a herringbone pattern all over it that look like beautiful fish scales or similar. They're both so lovely, and I'm so scared of accidently ruining them, that I haven't been able to bring myself to cut into them and have been carrying them around for over 8 years so far!
