Brandon- Actually it's not the first time, and you talk about it as if it slipped out or was a mistake-the family said no-twice. What part of that don't you understand? They gave up their son, and you can't abide them that one favor in return? A lot of vets witnessed how Vietnam was the war lost at home-some of them don't want to see the same thing happen to the next generation of soldiers, they don't want them defeated by the ingrates at home.

Damn it- edit:to get politicians to leave them behind with less numbers, *less assets brought to bear*, and less funding.

Have you heard of the dignity of the dying, respect for their privacy-again there are plenty of other ways you can try to "shock and awe" the American public. I'm pretty damn sure this Marine would not want the likes of the AP to use his photo to propagandize against the very thing he sacrificed his life for-and for that to be used to weaken the position of his comrades left behind, to demoralize them, to strike fear into the hearts of their families, to weaken the base of support they have back at home, to get politicians to leave them behind with less numbers, less investment, and less funding. Because you can be pretty damn sure he believed enough in what he was doing to volunteer for the- MARINES-that's not an half assed commitment-got that?

egibbon- The family of Lance Corporal Joshua Bernard have made enough of a sacrifice-they've lost their son, any respect for that sacrifice must be be given up-so that the AP can have their picture. My father actually was in the First Army under the command of Omar Bradley he was known as a soldier's General- I highly doubt that Omar Bradley would be thrilled by the actions of the AP this decade. I think he would have found them more arrogant than Monty.

Holy gawd I am going to be ill. Remember when they dragged the soldier through the streets of Mogadishu, and they knew he looked just like the son, father, husband of everyone worried sick back home!? Anyways- The AP doing the propaganda for the enemy for free every time. Gee if he'd been a GITMO detainee they would have honored his rights more.
