I am hated. Despised. Virtually spit upon. All because of my car. Yesterday morning I drove in to work (which I don't often do), and parked on the side street next to the office. This is the almost "free" street; it has 1 hour parking limit but they rarely check for it. After a long day at work I came back at dusk hoping I didn't have any parking tickets. Peering at my windshield as I approached the car it seemed like I didn't have just one ticket, I had a collection. Arriving at the car I found they were... Continue »

Right now Google is pimping this weird spec from Meebo called XAuth. This should not be confused with Twitter's xAuth, which is a different beast entirely. Google is currently spinning this as a "Facebook vs. the rest of the web" issue, but I'm not going to get caught up in all of the marketing bullshit. The technology should speak for itself. It seems that the main goal being publicized for XAuth is to allow one site to declare that the user wants to possibly "share" content on that site so that another content-publishing site can use this information to show... This is the first in a series of posts in which I will compare the two most favored blog platforms, Typepad and Wordpress. The purpose of this is not to crown a winner in a contest, rather to help you find the blogging platform that is right for you. One of the difficulties in making a proper determination about which platform to choose is that most of the people you talk to will be biased - they will recommend the platform they use. And they will probably make this recommendation without even getting to know you and your objectives. That's... Continue »

In terms of international celebrity or soccer pedigree, Chhetri is no David Beckham. He might not even be Landon Donovan. But in India, the interest in Chhetri’s move to Major League Soccer has generated so much interest in the sporting media that the Wizards have gone out of their way to accommodate reporters by setting up a news conference timed for the Indian news cycle. Chhetri will appear at the Cerner headquarters in Kansas City (the health care technology firm’s founders are the Wizards’ principal owners) at 10:30 p.m. central, while a world away, as many as 250 Indian journalists...
