How much energy is used by the rinse and hold cycle?
How my dishwasher’s rinse-and-hold cycle saved my marriage
Okay, maybe that’s going too far. But my wife and I have had our share of disagreements over her penchant for pre-rinsing dishes before loading them into the dishwasher. I’m from a family of pre-rinsers, so I understand the urge. But working at Consumer Reports has helped me break the habit, si...
Glenn Beck flunked out of college. Rush Limbaugh flunked out of college. Sean Hannity flunked out of college. The problem is that they can't stand that such things such as facts, evidence, knowledge, and truth exist and those things consistently counter their preconceived "beliefs" and "feelings". Of course there are always scared mindless sheep willing to follow someone that loudly professes the same irrational beliefs and notions.
These protesters claiming to hate Barack Obama for not being fiscally conservative, never bothered to show up when Bush increase the federal debt by $4 Trillion, nor when Reagan tripled the national debt with his irrational and irresponsible spending. They aren't scared of spending, they are partisan hacks, racists, or both. No other explanation accounts for the cognitive dissonance in calling Obama to task for irresponsible spending when every single Republican since WWII has outspent every single Democrat.
Glenn Beck's '9-12' logo based on communist and socialist designs
Ever since Glenn Beck took to the Fox television airwaves recently to offer a bizarre reading of the art commissioned 70 years ago for New York's Rockefeller Center, I've been puzzled by the graphic design element of his 9-12 Project. The logo (pictured) for his affiliated groups' rally in Wa...
Who cares how many whiny losers showed up for a march orchestrated by a bunch of paid cranks? Call the Waaaahmbulance! They had 36 million people show up on a single day to protest President Bush's decision to start a preemptive war across the world, a war dooming hundreds of thousands of people to death including over 4000 brave young Americans. Did Bush listen to the people protesting him? NO! He won the election and he did wanted he wanted. He earned his political capital and he intended to spend it. Elections have consequences.
Obama ran on a platform with a major goal of providing Universal Health Care. He has said he'd love a single payer system for over 2 years, but realized that was probably not a political possibility. However, he did run on health care reform and he won the election by HUGE MARGINS. The US House and Senate are now Democratically controlled super-majorities. The populace wants health care reform.
Obama won the election and he gets to decide what we do, not a bunch of losers, no matter how angry they are that a black muslim communist nazi czar usurper from Kenya has defeated them soundly in battle for hearts and minds of the people.

Cheney, the war hawk, who unapologetically announced the reason he didn't serve his country during the Vietnam war was because he "had other priorities". How convenient those priorities left him safely at home 15,000 miles away from the brave men who actually put their lives on the line for a war started by other war hawk politicians.
I have no respect for Cheney or Rumsfeld or Bush or any of the other chicken hawks that did everything possible to avoid serving this country during war time and then do everything they can to start preemptive wars around the world.
Hypocrisy is a sacrament in their religion.
Cheney, preparing his memoirs, unloads on Bush for bowing to public opinion
Former Vice President Dick Cheney is writing his memoirs. That in itself is something of a surprise, because Cheney has long -- and openly -- disparaged people who do. The presidency is owed loyalty, or anyway that was Cheney's view when folks like former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill and...
There is nothing that would silence the birthers. Even if a long form birth certificate was provided to them, they'd just claim it was a forgery.
I know that it is impossible for a citizen of Missouri to receive a copy of the "long form" and in fact they don't even have "long forms" any more. All the records are electronic. If you need a copy of your birth certificate, all the state will do is send you a "Certification of Live Birth" which states that it is valid legal proof of birth in Missouri.
Birthers are like people that believe the moon landing is fake, the Earth is flat, or that the WTC was blown up by our own air force (and presumably the missing airplanes were blown up somewhere else?). No matter what you present as evidence, they will only claim that it's another part of the conspiracy. Apparently two Hawaiian newspapers 50 years ago decided to print the notice of Obama's Hawaiian birth to make sure that in 50 years time he'd be eligible to run for president. Right? How can anyone even make that argument with a straight face?
It's time we demanded that the Birthers present some credible evidence for their side. So far all we have is the mistranslated and debunked telephone call with his grandma.
How to really shut up the Obama 'birthers'
Short answer: Amend the Constitution. I say this because some of the commentary in reaction to the suddenly resurfacing movement to prove that President Obama isn't a natural-board citizen -- fueled in part by filthy-rich average guy Lou Dobbs -- has blamed the Internet for providing the outle...
@Garic: the 1988 Nissan Pulsar NX doesn't qualify because the EPA rated mpg is 23 mpg for that model. It doesn't matter what your car actually gets, because if that was the case people could purposely screw up their cars to get less mileage to qualify and that isn't what the gov't is trying to encourage with this bill.
Cash for clunkers: The best gas guzzlers to junk
As Congress debates cash-for-clunkers legislation, we reviewed our data to determine what worn out old cars make the most sense to junk and what qualifying cars we think would make better replacements—featured in another post. The used cars we’ve listed are the newest vehicles likely to be avail...
I'm a libertarian and all for free speech, but apparently this guy is confused. Your free speech rights don't apply everywhere in any circumstance. You don't have a right to say whatever you want however you want while you are in the gallery in the Senate or US House for example. You don't have a right to wear a clown mask and floppy hat into any judge's courtroom in the nation.
Free speech isn't a democrat/republican/liberal/conservative issue.
African American man in Ku Klux Klan outfit challenges limits of free speech
An African American man who refused to remove his Ku Klux Klan uniform while appearing before the Los Angeles City Council prompted several council members to walk out of the meeting. Michael Hunt (yes, I know -- let's be mature about this) has a history of testing the limits of his 1st A...
So the 8 year love fest between George W. Bush and FOXNews was perfectly justified, expected, and patriotic.
Anytime anyone criticized Bush they were a traitor.
Remember how Republicans criticized the Dems for being obstructionist when they used the filibuster? They even threatened to change the rules of the senate to prevent them from using it.
Funny how things change when the American public votes your asses out of office.
Fricking hypocrites.
You lost. Quit crying. Try reinventing yourselves as a party that is truly conservative fiscally instead of the pork laden pigs you've been since 1980.
Obama official Kareem Dale confirms White House's love for MSNBC
(UPDATED: A second video has been added below.) For some inexplicable reason having to do with who knows what, a widespread impression has grown among many politics fans that MSNBC and its crowd of talkers -- including Chris "Thrill Up My Leg" Matthews, Norah "The GOP Is Doomed to Die" O'Donnell...
