Re: Typepad: [Maryrose's Blog, All Year 'Round (now illustrated)] Elizabeth submitted a comment on "Book 5, THE UNMAPPED SEA, now in stores" Elizabeth, thank you for this lovely comment! I am so glad the books have become part of your family’s reading life. I send a big hug to your daughter! Believe me, I cried too. I’m writing book 6 now, and will announce the pub date as soon as there is one. It may be a little while, though, I have to finish the book first! Meanwhile, remind your sweet girl that Penelope is plucky and a Swanburne graduate, and it would not be optoomuchstic to think that all will turn out well in the end. :)

I was also so amused by your excellent writing that I peeked at your family blog! What a wonderful clan you have. Give each of those kids a big hug from me. I would love to hear your Babushkawoo accent, frankly, I bet it’s divine. Sending happy howls to you all, now back to writing book 6! #ahwoo

Denise, you are quite right -- Plinkst is fictional, and Brighton is real. Much as the Giddy-Yap Rainbow! books are fictional, while the Incorrigible Children books are real. Of course, Penelope herself, and the dear Incorrigibles -- I think they must be as real as can be. They certainly feel that way to me!

Hello my dear Le family! What a wonderful note, thank you. I love hearing about the littlest Incorrigible readers. Do let them know that Penelope is brave and resourceful and they ought to keep hope that she will make everything right in the end! I know she will certainly do her best. I am writing book 6 now so you won't see it in stores until early 2017, I think. I will announce the publication date as soon as it is set. happy howls to you all! maryrose

Well, all I can say at this point is that I have a great deal of confidence in Penelope. She is a Swanburne girl, after all! :)

Ah, those tricky fives and sixes! Book six will be the last in this series, but THE UNMAPPED SEA is book five! So there is one more to come. Thanks for writing, I so appreciate it. Ahwoo!

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, and for your very kind words about the books!! I appreciate your point about the covers. The original covers for the earlier books in the series were created by the wonderful Jon Klassen, and as you probably know he has become one of our leading picture book artists and is no longer available. I am grateful that Eliza Wheeler has done such a wonderful job taking over the artwork for the series. She has created new covers for all the books that bring a lot of color and energy while still honoring the original visual conception of the characters. I absolutely love the cover art for THE UNMAPPED SEA, and can't wait to see what she does with Book 6.

Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed THE UNMAPPED SEA. Onward, now! I have many threads to unravel and then ravel back up....

Hello my dear Grace! Yes, the series will wrap up with book six! It is all rather exciting. :)

My dear Swanburnian Groves! I am so happy to hear from you. Thank you for your prompt attention to THE UNMAPPED SEA. :) I am writing book 6 now, and my best guess for publication is early 2017. Tell your son to be of good cheer: it is always darkest before the dawn, which Agatha Swanburne did not say but would surely agree with. I do know quite a bit at this point about upcoming plot twists, and when I get stuck I ask Simon Harley-Dickinson for advice. He is a whiz at that sort of thing. Happy howls to you all! xo

Hi Kirstein! The Incorrigible Children books are distributed globally in English by Harper 360. Your bookstore should be able to get it for you.

Thanks for your lovely comments, Elizabeth! Katy Kellgren is the amazing narrator, isn't she brilliant? I'm writing book six now, so you can expect it in early 2017. I hope to make it worth the wait. Tell your granddaughters I said AHWOO!

Hi Andrea! You can expect the German translation in October. Happy howls!

Patrick, you can download the Audible edition without a membership, it just costs a few dollars more. I'm not sure about CDs, though; the best thing to do is ask your local bookseller. If it's available on CD they will track it down for you, or find out when it's being released. I totally agree with you about Katy Kellgren, she is magical!

Hi Mellany! THE UNMAPPED SEA has new cover art by Eliza Wheeler. All four prior books in the series are being re-released in paperbacks with new covers by Eliza. Those are the editions currently being published. (Perhaps the original covers of the first four books will be collectors' items someday!) I am very happy to hear from you, and I hope you and your girls enjoy THE UNMAPPED SEA!
