We knew with Klinsi before we hired him that he was very averse to our college and MLS academy farm system. The flaws were pointed out repeatedly when he was an analyst for ESPN during the World Cup. Until American players are consistently getting extensive reps all year long at both youth academies and colleges, Klinsi will prefer the European systems that do provide their players with such reps. As we learned in the nineties, the MLS style of game and the MLS mold of players do not yet translate well to the international stage. The national team must improve its depth and its team diversity to improve its quality of play. I agree with what Klinsi is doing and what he sees for the future.
In the future, we're going to have to field a 4-1-4-1 so that Donovan, Dempsey, Holden, and Torres can find the field at the same time.
In the post-game interview, Klinsi said that he spoke with AZ's technical director, our yank Ernie Stewart before calling up Jozy. Stewart said that Jozy is being slowly brought up to fitness - fifty, sixty, seventy minutes per match - and Klinsi agreed to sub Jozy out after logging as many minutes. He did indeed. I don't see a problem here.
When did you start following soccer, yesterday? Such a Flounders fan. Dempsey's not gonna leave England for your yuppie team.
Unsubstantiated rumor mongering? Please. He's been linked by international soccer media to PSG and Villa for days. At this very moment, it is being reported that Arsenal submitted a bid for Deuce and he's likely to accept it. He's said for months that he wants to play in the CL. He said that to Ives in an interview before the Gold Cup, if you recall.
All this talk of Dempsey being a bit player at Arsenal is hogwash. He was a bit player at Fullham with every one of his coaches until they realized who they had. His coaches love him. He's the kind of player you simply can't play off the bench. In due time, if not immediately, Wenger will start him every match. He's our best overseas player. He's Deuce. C'mon. Have some faith in him!
And for all the people clamoring for Yanks to play at bigger clubs, consider that MLS has repeatedly turned down Tim Ream to Arsenal, that usually these ascensions take time, and that at least Michael Bradley isn't playing in Scotland.

I like the move for several reasons. Klinsi tried MB as an attacking mid in the last friendly and it was disastrous. For future reference, let's keep MB as a CDM. However if we're going to keep him as a CDM, then he needs reps with his club (just like everyone else on the team) to justify a spot above Edu, Beckerman, Shea, etc. This move to Chievo gives him reps. He needs reps.

Obviously now Rangers will go after Eddie Johnson. Michael Bradley too.

I agree wholeheartedly. The chemistry on the left side of our starting XI just got significantly better.

I agree with Walker Texas Rangers.

I can't help it. I'm already sold on Klinsi. I tried to hold out and be a rational soccer observer as long as I could. He's just so pretty. Free thinking, smooth talking, an XNXP Meyers Briggs, known for bold vision and new ideas. Changing the starters numbers + Bradley as a CAM + No names on the back of jerseys = oh my god yes heck yes. Sieg Heil Kaiser Jurgen please make love to me.
That's all good and great for EPL and La Liga, but MLS will no longer be broadcasted on ESPN which means that ESPN will no longer cover MLS. Look at hockey as an example. I think people need to understand that this television contract is not a move up. If all of the games were on NBC, this contract would definitely be a move up. A sliver, a slight fraction, of the games will be on NBC. Just like the ABC/ESPN2 contract of yesteryear. The rest of the games will be a dot in the distance. MLS loses all of their ESPN2 "Game of the Week" ratings coverage, in exchange for a lateral move by the rest of the MLS coverage. So really they accomplished nothing for the growth of the sport except hopefully more money for the league coffers.
ESPN will just ignore MLS altogether. Bad move by the MLS.
Versus and FSC are typically on the same tier of fancy sports coverage that will never sniff a basic package.
Also you can kiss US Soccer coverage on ESPN goodbye. Look at how they treat hockey, the other Versus sport.
Great move, right? For many cable providers, Versus/NBC Sports is a lateral move across the same expensive sports tier from Fox Soccer Channel. So in my experience (Charter) I only get access to either channel when I'm in college. No summer MLS for me. Also, let's just screw ESPN which is on the basic package of every cable provider in the country. Obviously this deal had nothing to do with ratings or exposure and EVERYTHING to do with more money.
Rogers got the callup because he's an old friend of Klinsi's. No joke. They played on an amateur team six years ago.
The more I think about it, the more I think "latin influence" is code for a Barca style. It doesn't have to mean "latin players". Look at TFC's 4-3-3, which Klinsi "consulted" just like he oversaw Germany's 4-2-3-1 conversion to Madrid. We could see a 4-3-3 with Howard in goal, Dolo and Castillo as fullbacks, Ream and Boca as centerbacks, Edu as a holding midfielder with Bradley and Beckerman as left and right attacking midfielders, with Donovan, Freddy, and Agudelo pressing up top.
The announcer is in on the meme. He shouted "I LIKE THAT BOON BOO REE!"

I think it'd be hilarious if TFC finishes dead last in MLS but wins the CONCACAF CL.
Does this mean a comeback for #USrosterislatebecause
I like that Jon Bornstein kid. Let's see what he can do with a cap!
