Screw the Yankees AND the Phillies, I'd rather have my head torn apart in a reverse bear trap like in those Saw movies, than watch the two teams I hate the most in the Worst Series.
There's either a Lightning or Magic game during each baseball game anyway.
Okay, Rays fans - tell us who you root for in this Series matchup
The Yankees won the AL pennant on Sunday night to join the Phillies in the World Series. And the big losers may have been Rays fans. (Along with Mets fans.) For a Rays fan, this Series matchup is quite a dilemma, essentially an exercise in picking the lesser evil. Root for the Phillies, who rude...
This is madness!
This! Is! Garza!
I love it when pitchers hit a batter and then talk about how it was no accident. If I remember correctly, he also said he hit Pedroia on purpose in Game 7 of the ALCS.
Tampa Bay Rays RHP Matt Garza stands up for teammate Evan Longoria
Tampa Bay Rays RHP Matt Garza acknowledged it was more than coincidence than he hit Mark Teixeira the inning after Yankees starter Joba Chamberlain threw a pitch at the head of Evan Longoria, and noted the Yankees threw inside to Longoria and hit him Monday too. “I just kind of got tired of...
So he used his mask to bring the ball a little closer to him? Big deal. They weren't in the middle of a play. Of course time wasn't called, so technically play is still ongoing, but you have to let that go. Nothing was happening. No one is getting an unfair advantage because of it.
It's trivial. It's a 5-run game in the 9th inning. It's like Jeff Nelson (the home plate umpire) thought the tides would have turned if he hadn't made the call. Give Hernandez a break.
Manager Joe Maddon ejected in ninth
Update 11 p.m. There has been a clarification from the official scorer, that it was not a "catcher's balk," but rather an error on the catcher for touching the ball with his mask. It would only be a catcher's balk, apparently, if the catcher had left his designated area before the pitch was thro...
Concert games usually start after 6pm. The game with Pat Benitar surprised me because it was at 7pm. And because of that blackout thing on Saturdays with FOX, no one gets to watch the game today because it doesn't start after 7pm.
Busy weekend at Trop: All Pro Dad event, Smash Mouth after A's game
Tropicana Field is going to be pretty busy this weekend. First up the Tampa Bay Rays are hosting an All Pro Dads event beginning at 9:00. this morning on the field. It’s part of the fatherhood program, All Pro Dad, started by former coach and now NBC football analyst Tony Dungy 12 years ago....
I'm sure Jason Bay would get in if he were still a Pirate.

Longoria loses lead in AL All-Star voting, Crawford drops to fifth
Yankees SS Derek Jeter moved past Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria for the overall lead in the AL All-Star voting. Longoria had led the last three weeks, but in the update released today, Jeter is back on top with 2,563,093 votes while Longoria has 2,488,076. Longoria still has a healthy lead ove...
Coghlan apologized, but I got the impression that he was sorry someone got hurt, not that he was sorry he did something wrong, and that caused someone to get hurt.
It was a horrible takeout slide. Not malicious, but just bad. All I wanted to hear him say was that he knew he messed up in the technique. He didn't even go in feet first. He just kind of fell on Aki's leg. That's not a slide.
Tampa Bay Rays Akinori Iwamura could be back this season
Tampa Bay Rays 2B Akinori Iwamura could be back in 6-8 weeks as he had only a partial tear of the ACL in his left knee. He was originally diagnosed with a full tear and considered out for the rest of the season. Rays orthopedist Dr. Koco Eaton performed surgery Monday and was able to repair the p...

This might be the dumbest fine I've seen someone on the Rays get since they fined Carl for "inappropriate actions" after going off at an umpire. This was the game where he beat out a play at first base because the guy who had the ball never even touched the base but they called Carl out, and Carl almost leap frogged George Hendrick to get to the umpire.
When they said Carl acted inappropriately, I said that it was probably the most appropriate action in franchise history at the time.
I could understand why they fined Joe here, IF they had fined Kerry Wood or Victor Martinez.
Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon says fine, blame "totally unjust" for Indians scuffle
The Rays head next to Cleveland to face the Indians, with whom they had some issues during last Sunday's game at the Trop, Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon and C Victor Martinez exchanging bad words after Cleveland closer Kerry Wood threw at B.J. Upton and the benches emptying. Tampa Bay Rays ...

Rays-Red Sox fan fight brings arrest
ST. PETERSBURG -- Police arrested a Boston Red Sox fan today on charges he assaulted a Tampa Bay Rays fan during a May 2 baseball game. Joseph Michael Norton, 30, the Red Sox fan, and John Thaddeus Ritter, 19, the Rays fan, exchanged words around 11 p.m. while walking down the outside ramp at ...
I didn't get to see on TV yesterday, so if it was a Rays fan, it's an understandable blunder. We all want to catch a ball right? Sometimes people forget that when you sit in the first or second row, balls that you can catch, can also be caught by the fielders.
A lot of people forget this until after the play, just ask Steve Bartman, as mentioned before here. Does anyone know where that guy is right now? lol, it's the biggest secret in the country or something.
What you need to do is try your best to knock the ball away from the other team's fielder, as long as he's reaching into the stands for it. That's legal, right? As long as you're not punching Youklis in the face, which I admit is very tempting.
Joe Maddon on foul ball controversy
Manager Joe Maddon says the Rays love their fans, appreciate their support and realize how important they are to their success. But Maddon also wants to educate them after one fan drew some ire in Sunday's game for giving the Red Sox a second chance in the ninth inning. With the Rays up 5-3 with...
