Josh has been sick lately. It all started on Thursday (my day limping from the pack). I got home and I could IMMEDIATELY tell that Josh was sick. Chad admitted he was and then admitted he had a fever...102 I think. Great. Well, that was the end of my pitty party. After all, it doesn't matter how sick you are if you're a parent, your kids are sicker and come first. So, I took the day off Friday and spent it with him. It was the right decision. It's always hard because he's with great grandparents when we're both at... Continue reading

I am limping from the pack today...literally. If you were to pass me in the halls, you'd wonder what rock I'd just slithered out from under. I've had one of THOSE headaches. One that is so bad: you have trouble walking/focusing? you vomit? (Sorry for the TMI.) you swear you can feel your head pulsating in sync with your heart? it renders you useless even to your child? Josh had a bad dream or something in the middle of the night and just the thought of having to get up was incomprehensible. I've taken four doses (not at the same... Continue reading

We have Dish Network, which we love to hate, and got a special offer to get Cinemax for a penny for a year! It has mostly movies on it and the movie of the moment is Transformers. Chad loves this movie. Almost to much. It got to the point where if he mentioned Transformers one more time, the TV was going to be a yard ornament. Chad couldn't take his eyes off the TV. He even brought his 'snack' before dinner in there, but someone wanted some cheese too. Chad shared for a little bit, but then got tired of... Continue reading

On Friday, as soon as I got home, Chad went outside to do something.....I think it was THATkind of a day. I saw him tinkering in the shed, going out front, came inside to tell me not to let Zoey out that the gate was open, etc. After about three or four interruptions from him while I was trying to cook dinner with an uncooperative kid, he knocks on the window. I turn around ready to just snap, but I see he has something in his hands. A lost dog. Oh great. Chad asks what to do and then asks... Continue reading

We have had some gnarly weather here lately. On Monday, we had some rough storms move through about 5. There was a large 'hook echo' on the radar and long story short...a tornado could've dropped out of the sky at any moment. So, with the tornado sirens blaring Josh and I take some stuff-shoes for both of us, water and puffs for Josh, the dog and leash, and head to the basement to clean out a little spot under the stairs to take cover. BTW-have you ever had to keep a 15 month old in a small confined area for... Continue reading

I 'splurged' on flowers for myself. SINCE SOMEONE NEVER BUYS THEM FOR ME........ They were on sale at Wal-Mart, probably left over from Mother's Day. I got 2 dozen bright pink roses for $2! That's right. Two dollars! It was worth all 200 pennies. Continue reading

Josh loves his Daddy. Most anything Daddy does, Josh wants to be a part of. Whether thats taking out the trash, checking the mail, going downstairs, etc. While Josh was having his afternoon snack, he was just enthralled with watching his daddy walk back and forth, and back and forth, and back and forth while mowing the lawn. Now if only in a few years he's still so interested! And the other day Josh figured out something he and Daddy can do together... SHAVE!! What handsome men, don't you think?! Continue reading

On Sunday, Chad had to work, so it was just Josh and I for Mother's Day. I tried to beat Josh up, but he ended up waking up early. (Yeah for teething!) So, he helped me get ready. We had a leisurely morning. We both stayed in our pajamas until we left. He had some cantaloupe for breakfast....anyone have a cantaloupe garden? We might need one! Since Daddy wasn't home to herd us out the door, we didn't make it to actual church, but we did make it for Nursery duty at 11. There were only two other babies in... Continue reading

We went to Grandma Janet's and Grandpa Gary's farm on Saturday. We left after Josh's morning nap so that he would at least get one good nap. (Boy have mercy if her doesn't get a good nap.) We had a great time. We spent most of the day outside, except for going inside to eat. Everyone was there....Uncle Ross, Aunt Cheryl, Granny Pankratz, Aunt Amy and Soon-To-Be Uncle Paul. We all brought different things so that Janet wouldn't have to cook. I brought homemade potato salad (even with the skins on!) and baked beans. The potato salad was divine and... Continue reading

Josh was in the best of moods last night. We had a great time. He also provided lots of entertainment, too. After dinner, he found one of my shirts and tugged it around like Linus from the Peanuts Gang. The he rolled on it as if to mark it from Zoey. Which turned into a game of peek-a-boo. I love how Zoey isn't phased, but more of 'oh brother.' She's so good at 'rolling with the punches' since Josh came along. Then Josh ran around the corner and found the small vacuum. He loves this. I always knew he was... Continue reading

Our weekend started out with quite the experience...and what else would you expect with Josh. Mom watched Josh for part of the afternoon on Friday, so after I got home the three of us left to go plant shopping at Lowe's. Side note - my Mother-In-Law got me a Lowe's gift card for Christmas to use toward plants for my garden. It is/was the perfect gift. I would love to have one next Christmas....hint, hint. This weekend was so beautiful! The weather was perfect. Just warm enough to need only a light jacket and sunshine galore! After shopping out Lowe's,... Continue reading

Yesterday was so beautiful we just HADto go on a walk. It was necessary for everyone's mood. There was hardly any wind (and today there is supposed to be a Toupee Alert) and the temperature was just right. A little back story. Zoey had been going up the stairs one stair at a time, which is unusual for her because she used to scale them like a gazelle! She also has had a bad limp at night for the past 5 days, so I thought it was time to take her in. The vet determined she has arthritis and gave... Continue reading

We started off our weekend by having a visitor! Grandma Jodi and Grandpa Ray went out of town for a much needed celebration....SO.....we got the pleasure of keeping their dog Ralph! Ralph is so in love with Josh. He literally can't get enough of him. Josh can just walk by Ralph and Ralph just can't contain his love....HE HASTO LICK! Josh will go around with not 'cowlicks' but 'doglicks'. I'm not real sure who was the happiest to see the other....Zoey to see Ralph or vice versa or Ralph to see Josh. The dogs especially liked Josh for his sharing... Continue reading

So, I was quietly thinking to myself, "Man, I haven't had any good blog material lately." I'd later regret thinking this... Josh and I were working outside flowering the weed garden, I mean, weeding the flower garden. We were both having a good time. I thought this might solve my blog problem, so I got my camera. I didn't even have to go inside to get it. I just opened the front door, reached in, and in that amount of time, Josh had solved my problem. I turn around in time to see him stuff a giant dirt clod in... Continue reading

Tuesday night, we had a very eventful night. Nothing planned, just things happened. Chad finally put a tarp over the sandbox so it didn't become a neighborhood litter box, gave Zoey a bath, etc. As we were getting ready for bath, like always, I was putting Josh's long-sleeved shirts in a lower drawer in his dresser since we weren't using them as much and moved some other stuff around. Josh was, what I thought, playing nicely around his changing table, when all of the sudden I turn around. After the immediate thought of "oh crap" I grabbed my camera from... Continue reading

Since Josh is spending more and more time outside, we decided it was time he needed a sandbox. Instead of buying the plastic turtle one, which would be way to small, Chad decided to build one....ALL BY HIMSELF! First he had to clear out the corner where it would be. There were a couple of tires, a wheelbarrow, and a pile of dirt. He put the tires behind the shed, spread the dirt around the house using the wheelbarrow. And when I say around the house, I mean ever nook and cranny he could find. I even happen to look... Continue reading

We spent Easter in Okeene this year. We went down on Friday after school with Grandma Jodi and Grandpa Ray. The trip was good, considering Josh had to be "strapped to the wreckage" for 3 hours. On Saturday, we made sure to make it to the Community Easter Egg Hunt held at the old football field. This one was ages 1-4, with school-aged kids on another hunt. He had a great time egg hunting with Grandpa Ray. We showed up about 5 minutes before the start of the hunt. We knew that keeping a one-year-old still and confined for more... Continue reading

Have you ever had a dream that you remember so vividly that you could make a movie out of it? I had one of those last night. I dreamt I was flying over an ocean, but I was tethered to a plane that was miles ahead of me. (And for those of you who know me, I'm TERRIFIED of dark waters - lakes, oceans, and anything I can't see in general.) When I arrived at my destination, which was a beach somewhere, there was a dock I was on. It had a house on it and there were other people... Continue reading

Since the weather has been nicer lately, Josh has been able to play outside most days. There's so much to do! He can even keep busy picking up leaves and putting them on the patio chairs and pushing the chairs around!! He also likes to play fetch with the dog....Ironically, the kid is the one who fetches! And Josh is just fascinated with the step. He could climb on and off it forever. I also bought some outdoor toys. He loves them! I think he likes them because he gets to play in the dirt... He also has been helping... Continue reading
