St Pardoux, between Niort & Parthenay, is one of the best Fetes de la Musique in 79! This year there are 28 groups with more than 200 musicians, both professional and amateur. The event kicks off at 7pm with fireworks at 11pm. Parking is signposted, most of the events are centred around the Foyer Rural and sports ground - just follow the music to find it! There is also food and drink available. Free entry, flat ground so easy for disabled. What's the History of Fete de la Musique; here's a link to an article I wrote in 2010. Continue reading

Dear Beryl, At the beginning of the General Election campaign Theresa May said she was seeking a mandate to negotiate her sort of Brexit; the result denies her that mandate. The Prime Minister’s version of Brexit was set out in the Conservative election manifesto; it said that sovereignty was a red line, and concluded that Britain must withdraw from both the Single Market and the Customs Union. In doing so it threatened our economic interests, and funding for our public services. At a time when many families have seen no improvement in their living standards for more than a decade,... Thought you might smile at this...borrowed from a resident of London. 'What a pickle the UK finds itself in since the referendum, 1. Cameron gone. 2. Osbourne gone. 3. May in but almost out. 4. The government in a lose lose situation. 5. inflation on the increase 6. The £ not knowing which way to go 7. Business full of uncertainty due to the above. 8. The UK closer to breaking up than it's ever been. 9. The good Friday agreement under massive pressure. 10. Bojo being considered as the next PM!!!!.... WTF! Now what part of "project fear" was...
