Oh no, I'm so terribly sorry to hear this! D= I was so hopeful that he would turn up, just taking a breather away from everyone for a little bit. I don't even know what to say, this is just heartbreaking. u_u My condolences go out to the family.

As someone who has never (*gasp shock horror*) been into Twitter (really, just don't see the point, not when there's already Facebook and blogs!), I suppose I might just have to make an account so I can Twitter-stalk all you awesome folks and listen in on the fun. =P

As everyone else has already said it, I will just quickly summarize more of the same: BBT = awesome. Wil Wheaton = awesome. BBT + Wil Wheaton = doubly awesome. Wil Wheaton + recurrences on BBT = awesome*infinity!! IT MUST BE DONE!!! ;)

I'm not Wil (heh) but in case you haven't found your answer, yes, there are .pdfs of his books, and I know that Amazon even had one of them, if not more. There should be links somewhere on the site, though.

Thank you for this. I hadn't come back here in a few days, when I last saw this it had only the first two comments doing that. Now I see that the "pirate" douchebags (and I am not even against piracy, in particular respects anyway) have come out of the woodwork to bitch about/at Wil, because he clearly must be anti-pirate for not wanting people to take his work that he put so much effort into, and deprive him and his family of their right to profit from it. It is really freaking aggravating to see that shit, about one of the most upstanding people I have ever come across. You summed it up quite nicely. *sighs*

Every episode of BBT is always hilarious, certainly no surprise that your ep is, too!! Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately because I hate all the stuff teasers give away! lol) I can't watch that because CBS only allows you to watch their vids in the US. But I will be watching the ep the night after it airs! *squee!!*

Aww I've never played D&D before, but you make this event thing sound like so much fun, I wish I could go, and play! =) But alas, I am off in Europe, so I will simply tell you that, that sounds lovely, and wonderful that it's for charity, and I hope you have a blast! =)

Ahhhh Wil, I'm listening to Happiest Days right now (paused at the moment, 3 mins in to blue light special) and I LOVE IT, dude listening to you tell the butterfly one and hearing the (what I could tell before he asked) genuine emotion in your voice made me want to cry!! Is Just A Geek recorded in the same fashion? I had abstained from getting it because I got the paper version and decided that, since I'm not a millionaire (not even close! lmao), not getting to hear you read it yourself was acceptable, since I did read (and LOVE) it. But, hearing you tell these is really wonderful, and if Just A Geek was done in the same manner, I might just have to splurge and get that one, too...

Wil, I highly agree with everyone else who said you should report him. And they're right about Google, and maybe Paypal too. Don't let this guy keep being such a dick!!! And just so you know, I bought the Happiest Days audiobook 2 days ago, along with a lettered edition of the book. I sincerely hope that that helps with the sting of this guy's douche-move, just a little bit. And know that I will hopefully try to plan my next (well first, really, since I've only lived here 3 mos so far) visit to the States around some appearance you make, so that I can have you sign my book (well, plus the rest of the books because that'd just be really kool ;P) face-to-face. We love you Wil, you're awesome, don't let this dick/douche get you down too much!!

Everyone who is anticipating your book release, should already know how wonderfully awesome you are, and therefore have no problem with waiting a few more days! You should most definitely get to enjoy the release as much as the rest of us, if not more!! Go, have your fun at the con, and we'll all be patiently waiting for your return. =) Oh, and don't forget to breathe, kay?? ;)

Wil, I've not been reading much of any blogs lately, that I used to before the move to Europe. But I happened to see someone somewhere make mention to you writing about being on BBT, and you have no idea how much I squealed in delight!!! That is by far one of my most favorite.shows.EVAR! and it thrills me to no end that you are appearing on it. Seriously, I am just ...ack omgyay!!! LOL. So so happy, and ecstatic for you, too, that has to be beyond awesome, not only is it a great gig to get, but as you said, being a geek yourself, and getting to be on it... yeah, super awesome! =)

But are the kids wearing the shirts even proclaiming to BE geeks? Star Wars is totally mainstream now, tons upon tons of people think it's this great epic movie/series. So just because they're being a little lame sporting fake-old shirts advertising Star Wars, doesn't mean they consider themselves geeks at all. But if they are claiming that, then yes I hope they're doing more than watching the movie and wearing the attire, too. lol I do understand your point with dodgeball, it's the whole, overcoming adversity making for better, more well-rounded people and all that. But still, dodgeball was hell for me, and I'd be glad to not have any child of mine have to endure it. Did you know they actually have national dodgeball TOURNAMENTS, for the grown up men (and scattered women), to go play like little children?? eesh.

I know. That's why I say he's a cool smart guy. He really is. I'm pretty sure he could teach if he wanted to though. He's not done anything illegal by being in porn. Porn is 100% legal. He has not committed any lewd acts by doing it, nor endangered children or committed felonies, etc. Nothing about porn means someone isn't allowed near children. That said, I imagine almost any parents who knew the name, would cause too much of an uproar to allow him to teach their children. Which is sad, because I imagine he's probably quite good at it, seeing how reasonably he conducted himself on that show with all kinds of fools around him, heh. And yeah, I was a daycare teacher for a few years, we had autistic kids in some of our rooms, as well as kids with ...emotional instability. It's rough, but I gotta say, most of those were my favorite kids in the joint.

LOL. Ron Jeremy is actually a pretty cool (and by "cool," I do not mean annoying popular celeb!), smart guy. I watched him on that show that I forget the name of, with the "has been" stars, you know. And I found that I really quite liked him. ...Sleeping with thousands of women aside. LoL.

psht, when I have kids one day (and I'm 27, not a teenager! and ftr, while I did own all the Star Wars movies ON BETA TAPE!, I have only ever owned one Star Wars shirt: a Yoda one, because I love him, and it was certainly not intended to look old. I also had an ewok, and yes I was old enough to see the movie that was more specifically about them, and loved them), I would love for them not to have to endure the wretchedness that is dodgeball!! That is, assuming they will be geeks/anti-athletic like me. Maybe they will turn out like my geek of a [soon to be] husband, who loved playing it as a young child. A man who is a gamer (or used to be, at least), was a big part of a large online gaming community, can code quite well, has had a blog for a number of years, is slightly socially awkward, remembers far more European and world history than I have ever even learned (and a lot of it was learned because he wanted to), etc etc. I get what you're saying, and to an extent I agree... but I don't agree with being overly exclusive and making some sort of "set criteria" people have to live up to.

"The fault is theirs for feeling as though we need to be endorsed by them to exist." This. THIS! This is what I find so highly disturbing about their entire gimmick and site and "society." Who are THEY to say that WE are in need of a "society for advancement"?! It is freaking degrading, as far as I am concerned.

I just want to say that I really don't agree with your definitions. I do agree that being a geek can be inherited, but certainly not that it HAS to be.
I haven't done a lot of those things, but I still completely agree with your last sentence. And I think a lot of people who have commented feel the same way, but haven't really outright said it, because they don't want to come off as exclusionary or, whatever. But like I've said, I don't care if there are MORE people open to being geeks now, I do care, about all these "faux geeks," though, and I do not like it one bit.

I think it would be incredibly awesome if he did this. I doubt he has time though. =( Maybe someday? *looks hopeful*

"As usual, I thought I loved you before (in a distant, metaphorical and platonic way, of course) but I was wrong. After this post, I love you still more than I thought was possible. Yay! And stuff." hahahaha, I am pretty sure I think that any time I read anything he writes. ;D

Again, I really do not believe Wil was saying that BECAUSE they are "cool celebs" they can't be geeks, but that he does not believe they truly are geeks (and I pretty well agree that most of them do not likely seem to be) and they are simply being used, to sell the idea that "being a geek is/can be cool."

I really don't think it is Apple at all, but those people who are not actually geeks at all who are USING Apple thinking that because MS is so big, that because they got something "different" they just MUST be "geeks." Even though, Apple is huge and friggin everyone has iPods and even my MOM went out and bought an iMac because she "heard" they were "better."
