Technically speaking, Wil's given first name is Richard (Wil is his middle name) - so, really, he is a Dick. xP But that's the only kind of dick he is.
Video Q&A Post for Denver Comicon
I was not happy that I had to cancel my appearance at the Denver Comicon this weekend, mostly because I knew that there were a significant number of people who bought tickets specifically because I was going to be there. Aaron Douglas did a magnificent job (because he is awesome) replacing me, a...
You're the biggest dick I've ever seen Lilith. Consider a moment the fact that wil actually ANSWERED you. Most so called "entitled celebrities" wouldn't give your comment a second look, let alone comment and personally apologize and try to explain the circumstances. Wil Wheaton is the most not-dickish person I've ever met. And. Um. If you were up on stage, wouldn't you want your family to be able to see you? Your FAMILY. Your BEST FRIENDS. They deserve to be front row, free ticket. No, try telling your mother "sorry Mom. If you want to see me perform, or graduate, or wow a crowd, you gotta stand outside wait just like all those random strangers." Guess what. Wil Wheaton is a NORMAL HUMAN BEING. Just. Like. You. He has friends, he has family, he has feelings, and he has limits. He does NOT exist JUST FOR YOU and your pitiful ENTOURAGE of self-entitled friends.

A well-organized list of things which I want to say:
1st (and foremost) - [happy-rage-guy.jpg] RFB IS BACK!!! omfg I'm so happy you have no idea!! I love these Wil, I really really do! Thank you so much!
2 - Paul and Storm's commercial isn't actually there. It's just... silence... Sadface, I bet it's really awesome!
3 - Remember when you did that last RFB waaaay back in like November 2010 or something and you thanked a ton of people, except those who gave you RFB stuff at cons and that you misplaced the box in your garage but you still needed thank them and you will in the future? Did you ever find that box? You so need to thank those people! *cough*likeme*cough*
I really hope you keep getting excited about and thus keep making RFBs! Thanks Wil!
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Thirty-Two
Holy Crap, after more than a year, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! Today, I read some stories from my blog, talked about some stuff, and played some weird and wonderful music. Show Notes: The logo was designed by WWdN:iX reader Marc, who asked that I not link to his "in prog...
*cough* You also... kinda sorta... still have people to thank on RFB... if you ever found that box in your garage. You know... just saying... *cough cough* It's only been... almost a year since Phoenix Comicon. Just saying. (*makes hands into a heart shape and apologizes for being annoying*)
And dude, totally checking out some of this music! :)
three incredible indie bands you should listen to
My brother has been making these cool time lapse videos of life on his ranch in Montana. In a recent video, he used music that I instantly loved ... but he didn't say who it was. Luckily for me, I live in the future, so I fired up Shazam on my Android, let it do its thing, and in less than a min...
Let me just say - if you ever bring Chris Hardwick in again, you guys should do hilarious "The Stupid Things We Did When We Were Young" sketches. That Nerdist podcast was hilarious... you guys could probably be hilariously awesome onstage together.
I'm not so familiar with your other hilarious stories to really put any other input (my favorite stories from my copies of Happiest Days and Just a Geek are the more heartwarming tales, not necessarily w00tstock material). I know what you read at PhxCC last year was pretty awesome, though, and pretty geeky! Maybe more video games/D&D hilariousness like that?
(Also: w00tstock in Phoenix. Just saying)
w00tstock presents: Wil Wheaton vs. Paul and Storm at Largo
Later this month -- March 29, to be precise -- I will be joining Paul and Storm for a show at Largo, here in Los Angeles. This show will be a sort of concentrated w00tstock, expanding my 20 minute set of one story to about 60 minutes of probably 3 stories, and doing approximately the same for Pa...
It's so awesome to finally get some faces to the names I've heard so much! ...though now I think you should post some younger pics, though, so that way, when I read stories about them in Elementary and Middle School years, I'm not seeing these college students acting like 11-year-olds. XD
In which I am a proud father
"I have to tell you," Jonathan Coulton's wife said to me on the last night of the cruise, "how wonderful your boys are." "I have two daughters," Peter Sagal's wife told Anne, "and I hope this isn't weird or creepy, but I really hope they meet guys like your sons." "Dude, you know you raised your...

merry smurfin' smurfmas, mothersmurfers
This is crying out for a caption. I'll choose my favorite, and send something neat* to whoever writes it. Submissions open throughout the weekend, one per person, and can only be left as comments here (it's too difficult to track on Twitter or via e-mail). *definition of 'neat' will be at my s...
Wil, I *loved* this. It was so clever, and I loved all the connections between what the neighbors believed a "perfect" neighbor was, and what they used to make the world think of them as the perfect neighbors. If I'd been drinking anything at that last paragraph, I would've done a spittake all over my imac (and I would've hated you for it, so it's a good thing that didn't happen xD). It's a 200ish word story, but definitely not a "simple" story. So many layers and you have to read carefully to get what it's trying to say. Love it love it! :) Excited to see more!
Short Fiction: 239 Sycamore St.
While walking through my neighborhood yesterday, I wondered what actually went on behind those manicured lawns and drawn curtains. I wondered how much I really knew my neighbors. This is what my brain spat out: Ian missed living in a city that didn’t keep any secrets from him, where everything ...
HAHAHAHA!! I was all like "Hmph! He didn't get to mine!!" and all surly the whole episode and whining on twitter, and then I heard your "lost my convention box!" excuse, and I now I'm just laughing like an idiot. xD Oh, Wil. You're so normal.
I guess I can wait oooone moooore weeeeeek for that long-anticipated thank you. XD I'm so glad the Burrito is back!!
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Thirty
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! On this RFB, I deliver a bunch of weird audio collected from the internets, a whole lot of thank yous, and a reading from the special edition of The Happiest Days of Our Lives. Show Notes: The logo was designed by WWdN:iX reader Marc...

Testing the theory that one can not have too many dice
Just before I went out to GenCon in August, I wrote: I have one request, which I hope isn't unreasonable: I'd like to test the theory that you can't have too many dice. If I see you at GenCon, would you give me one gaming die? I'll bring home as many as I get, dump them all on my office floor, ...
D: I'm drooling. I want to plaster all of those into the most amazing wall mosaic the world has ever seen. What would the mosaic depict? Why, a gigantic D-20, of course. Oh my god that would be amazing!! *flail!*
...will you be accepting dice at RinCon?

I was listening to this at figure drawing and got some preeeetty odd looks from people when I burst out laughing at certain parts. I've been waiting for a new RFB all summer - the audio could've been even crappier and I wouldn't have cared! Also: seriously, you should do more fiction. So much of the imagery was just beautiful, I could imagine it all perfectly. I want to know what creative things might be rattling around inside your head. :) Not that your personal narratives aren't amazing (cuz they totally are), it was just something new and exciting from you, and I really liked it.
Also, like some other commenters, I really miss Storytime with Uncle Wil. XD I hope you are able to find more RFB time amongst your busy schedule. And I can't wait for the next one! Never let the burrito die, Wil!
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Twenty-Nine
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! This episode was made possible by the generous contributions of listeners like you, as well as a grant from the We Didn't Really Give You A Grant, Wil, Foundation. Show Notes: This show doesn't have the best audio in the world, becau...
Oh man, too bad that PacMan record is still shrinkwrapped... I mean, you probably wouldn't want to open it... even when it could be used for one awesome/hilarious interlude between segments on an RFB episode... not like I'm hinting at anything... or anything... #okayIreallyamhintinghere #hashtagsoutsidetwitter!
garage discoveries
I spent a little time in the garage today, and was rewarded with a bunch of nifty discoveries, so I thought I'd share pictures of a few of them. All of these images can be clicked to embiggen them at Flickr, where you can learn more about them:
Don't be worried about your fanfic, Wil. I'm really curious to see what you came up with! Did you guys have to abide by the same 400-2000 word limits we did?
singing fun fun fun
Yesterday, I got an e-mail from John Scalzi, reminding me that my Unicorn Pegasus Kitten fanfic is due on Saturday ... I'm going to skip the part about how I began to hyperventilate at the thought of actually turning something in to John that people are going to read and OH MY GOD THEY'RE ALL GO...
"If something gets in your way.... TURN!"
Ah, I saw what you did there. Love that movie! :P
I sold back my SDCC ticket in order to buy w00tstock tickets. I mean, I wouldn't have been able to afford the hotel for SDCC anyway, so I would've refunded it regardless, but when I heard about w00tstock, I was determined to go, even if it meant sleeping in my car on the side of the road afterwards. I am SUPER EXCITED to see w00tstock in all its glory! If it's even half as awesome as the youtube videos and everything makes it seem, I'm gonna have the time of my geek life. :)
The w00tstockSD and comic-con 2010 FAQ
In just about 48 hours, I head down to San Diego for w00tstock and Comic-con. Here is my effort to answer questions about both: w00tstock Q: Are tickets available? A: Yes. You can get them from Ticketbastard, or from the box office. Q: Ticketbastard says there aren't any seats! Do I have to sta...
You know, it says on J!nx that a new shirt was supposed to come out yesterday, on July 5th, but I haven't seen anything...
in which wil is live at seven
Today is my last day on this episode of Leverage. In just under 24 hours, I go back to real life. Yesterday, I went over to Pioneer Square to talk with Stephanie Stricklen on a local news show called Live at 7. It was a good time, and I got to meet a lot of Portlanders afterward who came out to,...
I would love future me to come to present me and just tell me that it'll all be okay eventually. I don't need to know any specifics, just seeing an older me alive and smiling would be enough for me.
From the Vault: unpublished and unfinished scene from a grocery store
I'm working on repairing and restoring WWdN (don't get too excited or update your bookmarks just yet, my blog will live here no matter what), and while I was cleaning up duplicate blog entries, I came across several unpublished drafts of posts that I decided were too personal to publish, too unf...
I want to go to Wootstock so flipping bad now more than ever. How do we poke and prod you guys with suggestions of which cities to go to next? (Like, ahem, Tucson or Phoenix)
"In a lot of ways, for me, W00tstock felt like finally finding a home base."
When Paul and Storm and Adam Savage and I had our first conversations about what would become w00tstock, we knew that we wanted to put on an entertaining show for our fellow nerds that would be successful enough to warrant more than the three shows we originally planned. Sunday and Monday, we're...
When I was in chamber orchestra in high school, all of my classmates were annoyed by the fact that we were asked to play simple pieces. Not alot of difficult phrasing, at moderate tempos, with predictable structure. At one point, annoyed, my teacher turned to them and said "If you guys can't even play Mary Had a Little Lamb beautifully, then why on Earth would I want to try and give you Beethoven?"In a similar fashion, I think it's the mark of a true writer to be able to make the most simplest of circumstances something wonderful and captivating to read. This was beautiful, Wil. You really need to write narrative more often. :)
woke up in the rain and everyone turned over
The way I remember it, the last day of school was always the hottest day of the year, capping at least a week of warm and sunny weather that brought with it the promise of spending every day of our impending summer vacation by the pool or at the beach. I didn't care that my parochial school forc...
I have a friend who was fired for her job simply because of the photos on her facebook - none of which were bad (not like my brother, who had a picture of him doing a kegstand as his myspace profile pic for months). She was just called "unprofessional" and dropped, because of a non-professional site. And that's scary for me.
Apart from this.... god Facebook is so addictive... it's really terrible, but none of my friends and family understand or will use Twitter, or else I'd use that more.
on the internet, nobody knows that you're a dog
I mentioned this on Twitter, but as Twitter has grown and grown (congrats, Biz and Ev!) it's become very "in the moment" and not the best place to put very important things like this: There's a page on Facebook that appears to be mine. The problem with this is that I don't use Facebook, and I do...
You once mentioned in one of your posts or books or RFBs that walking into a convention hall surrounded by like-minded geeks, nerds and gamers was the equivalent of coming home. At Phoenix Comicon, I totally got that. I felt at home and at peace with myself as a geek and with the world probably for the first time ever during this convention, and you were a big part of that, with Rock Band and Geek Prom and your hilarious panels and how cool you were when I went to your table. I'm homesick now, among my non-geek family who doesn't understand, but I can't wait for next year. So thank you, so much, once again.
Sunday at the 2010 Phoenix Comicon - Super Happy Funtimes, Eureka, Meeting Stan Lee
This is the last of three posts about the 2010 #PHXCC. If you're looking for the other two posts ... you know, I'm not going to link them for you, because I think that would insult your intelligence. You know how to find them. Sunday: I woke up Sunday feeling like Monty Python lied when they sai...
O__O making the geek prom even better?? How do you exceed perfection, except maybe for an addition of "No cameras allowed"?
I mean, it was so amazing! How awesome was it to be able to tell people "Oh yeah, on Saturday, I got to dance with Spock to a live band playing the Pokemon theme song while wearing a Batman cape and taped up glasses - and felt so great and normal doing it!" Seriously, this negated my entire horrible senior prom experience.
Saturday at the 2010 Phoenix Comicon - the Guild, the TNG reunion, a journey's end, and geek prom
Since I didn't write about it while I was there, I'm recapping some highlights of the 2010 Phoenix Comicon in a few different posts. This is about Saturday. Saturday: During the first round of the NHL playoffs, I made (and lost) another hockey bet with my friend Aaron Douglas. Because the Canuck...
I am so glad I was paying attention at your panel you said "I know SOMEONE will make me sing Bon Jovi," and glad the two guys in my band were cool with it when I suggested it, cuz that was AWESOME!!! Thanks again, Wil!!
Friday at the 2010 Phoenix Comicon - the awesome hour and rock band
Since I didn't write about it while I was there, I'm recapping some highlights of the 2010 Phoenix Comicon in the next couple posts, starting with Friday. Friday: I have felt creatively stagnant for months, and unable to write much of anything. I suspect it's because the creative part of my brai...

Did you notice that I didn't just say "I'm commenting!" I CONTRIBUTED. :P
Also: HOLY FRACKING CRAP I GET TO SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND AT PHXCC!!! I AM SO BLOODY EXCITED!!! Signed copy of Just a Geek? Yes please!
(Are you going to have copies of Dancing Barefoot? Or is that omg-too-old to bring to conventions anymore?)
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Twenty-Eight
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! Has it really been three weeks since the last show? I guess it has. Well, I brought a note that will hopefully excuse my absence... Show Notes: The logo was designed by WWdN:iX reader Marc, who asked that I not link to his "in progr...
The Flanders to his Homer?
something something giant balls
This picture was taken after we'd been working all day on all the scenes that take place in the bowling alley. It turns out that shooting pretend bowling sequences is really complicated, and just a few minutes of final cut takes several hours to film. What you can't see is how Jim and I are tr...
