That is wonderful news about your three, Suzan - you must be very proud! Hmm, I know what you mean about the Churros, as we had to declare them a 'once every six months or so' treat .... LOL. Mel x

I really like the sound of the sugar scrub and that's a really awesome idea to go with the mitt. Hmm, I might have to find a nice recipe for this & make some myself. Thank you for the idea xx

Thanks Amie!
Kellie, where did you source those sweet calico bags from? Or did you make them?
P.S. I really want to see what was in all of the packages :)
I LOVE that you organised your own snail mail box swap!! The goodies you received and sent look amazing :)
Hi Renee, We have two square foot raised beds - they're both 55 square feet, so not much bigger than yours really. We also have a hot house where we grew all of our tomatoes last year and another small plot behind that, but that particular plot didn't do overly well last year. For summer and early autumn, the 2 square foot beds and the hot house fed us amply with tomatoes, potatoes, some carrots and lots of other veggies. I think I bought the odd capsicum and cucumber, but rarely visited the shops for any other veg. This year I want to add a third bed, so we can definitely have enough potatoes and carrots to really last through all of autumn and into a bit of winter too. It's amazing how much you can fit in each square!! Mel x

Hi Merri, We grew peas for the first time last year (from seed) and they went really well, without anything special happening from me, so I'm not sure :( I watered them every day lightly - even when they were still seedlings and they were in a spot that wasn't overly manured. I did 16 seeds to one square foot. Not sure if any of that is helpful :) Mel x

Hi Tammy, Last year I did one seed potato per square. In a space 1.2 metres X 1.5 metres I had 20 potatoes growing and pretty much each square yielded 20 potatoes on average - so that was about 400 potatoes in that space. I'm doing the same this year :) Mel x

That's sounds very cute! I have my woollen threads on wooden pegs, but to be honest I'm pretty lazy and mostly they don't get put back on after I unravel some. :( I'm naughty like that :) Mel x

This has been a real struggle to get it to this stage. It's not that I haven't enjoyed the process, but I always mull over what I'm going to embroider in the squares so much!! I hope you enjoy pulling yours back out x

oh YAY!! That's so lovely that you're making them for your girls for Christmas - love that idea. I'm really surprised at how quickly it's crocheting up and I am already wondering if somebody else might like one. xx

I feel your pain Ange and I'm not sure I have a solution for this. To be honest, I doubt that my 18 year old will receive anything handmade this year, because I feel like I'd be making, just for the sake of making - does that make sense? The only thing I could think to make him, would be a knitted blanket (like the chunky one above), but he already has quite a few blankets/quilts on his bed, so that rules this out. He's not a beanie/scarf type boy either and although I'd quite like to make him some knitted socks, I have a feeling that they would just sit in his cupboard unworn. He doesn't really put anything on his Christmas list at all, so he's always tricky at the best of times, but he's really into mountain biking so I know that something along these lines would be much loved and well used. I know this isn't handmade, but I think Leonie's idea for a teenage gift is really cool: http://www.kiwiatheart-leonie.blogspot.com.au/2014/09/spend-free-september-week-one.html Mel x
