Well in defense of Americans, most people don't *make* them but buy a box of pre-packaged cards with popular cartoons and Disney tween stars on the front, and just fill in the to and from box. I'm shocked that this isn't an international phenomenon:)
we made Valentines!
I have never, in my life, been this early for Valentine's Day. I'm pretty sure it was only two years ago that I dropped my 3 year old off at school, realized to my horror it was Valentine's Day, rushed back home and crafted 22 Valentines, and drove them back to school in time for their 10:00 par...
Ohmygoodness the cosmetics counter *did* seem glamorous! I never got to go near it :)

All About Ruby Star Wrapping
Time to talk about my new book, Ruby Star Wrapping! For the first few years of my career in fabric design, I was lucky enough to have my dear friend Allison help me with some of the more business-minded aspects of my work. A natural-born writer, she would handle communications while I f...

Aww, I have a little Finn too! Your book is adorable, and the snack sack is perfect. Love the fabric choice!
wrapping finn's book of words + ruby star wrapping
Though I don't think I've purchased a roll of wrapping paper (ever) in my adult life, it's not like I've made up for that by presenting gifts in beautifully-made, recycled wrapping. Until this very day, I have not been motivated (or had the time, last-minute gift-crafter that I am) to put any ...

The 12th Day of Ruby Star
Happy Christmas Eve! In conjunction with Fat Quarterly's 12 Days of Ruby Star, I'm going to show you how to make a classic Melody Miller headscarf out of Ruby Star fabric. First, download and print your template. Be sure to print at full scale! Now, cut along the diagonal line that best de...
Hi Michelle! This line hits stores in late July. It will be distributed in Australia, but I'm not sure which shops will carry it. It's widely available online, though! Just google melody miller fabric or ruby star fabric and you should be able to find it. Let me know if you need any more help! PS: I love your instagram feed:)
my first quilt market booth
While it's practically ancient history, I've just come out from under my pile of boxes and vintage knick knacks long enough to tell you about my first quilt market booth. Also, having finally had enough sleep to string an entire sentence together, I wanted to say: Quilt Market was fun! This wa...
I'll totally do something at Whipstitch when the book comes out this fall. That's not too far from Roswell; maybe you'll come??

The cutest things in all of Japan
Everything, *everything* in Japan is irresistably cute. While there last week, I found myself pocketing the little plastic spoons from Starbucks, and buying band-aids at the 7-11, because they were just so cute. But, by far, these matches were my favorite things I found in all of Tokyo. Who ...
