I am trying to draw your attention away from the fact that I'm not only very late posting my outdoor time with the kids, but also that I was a colossal failure again this week. I did get outside and... Continue reading

Don't let this photo fool you. It's from Week 8. Week 7? Officially a bust. I was so busy being INSIDE that I was too tired to go OUTSIDE. Remember that the challenge isn't just to spend 15 minutes outside,... Continue reading

This week is evidence that the whole 21-days-to-make-a-habit thing is bunk. On Monday, I played tennis outside with Caleb, but forgot to take a picture. I went for a walk with my daughter using her new doll stroller (and for... Continue reading

Margaret, I really appreciate it because it IS an effort for me! I need the encouragement to keep going, especially when it gets cold. So high five me again in December, ok? :-)

I've been flying through life this week and don't plan to land until May! I can honestly say that I forgot to spend 15 minutes outside a couple of times this week. Since I refuse to be a perfectionist with... Continue reading

Emily, I'm so glad you stopped by! Two-year-olds are so much fun, especially this time of year. It is definitely a lot of work! But worth it. :-)

Glad you like it, Kate! It's a good habit for me to get into for sure and the kids really enjoy it.

Psychologists say that it takes 21 days to establish a habit. I'm a psychologist and I say that's bunk. If I hadn't committed to this publicly, hadn't had such fabulous weather, and hadn't been enjoying myself, I would quit right... Continue reading

I'm starting to figure out that spending 15 minutes outside is easy. It's the "playing with the kids" part that can be a little challenging. I had no idea I looked that awful when I'm unhappy with them. As you... Continue reading

It's been an easy fun week this week as we've been experiencing summer in early spring. The kids introduced me to the hilarious games of Crocodile and Toilet Bowl on the trampoline. In Crocodile, you have to close your eyes... Continue reading

This week I've learned how much I will suffer for the sake of this challenge--and enjoy, too. I tried to get away with hanging outside at the kids' PE class and gabbing with girlfriends while the kids played. The photo... Continue reading

I knew you'd love that picture, Deb. :-) You're a wonderful model of contentment in the midst of less than ideal circumstances, so I thank you for that. Have a contented weekend!

You mean it's not about me???? Horrors! :-) Really, it's a relief to know it's not. The people I know who are very close to the Lord are the most content. That gives us the secret of contentment, doesn't it?

Loren, I think you're right. Contentment and hard work seem like they're in opposition to one another, but they're not! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this series of posts.

My husband and I recently admitted that screens were once again taking up too much of our family's time. As I looked for substitute activities, I found the book, 15 Minutes Outside. One of the weird things about me, having... Continue reading

Loren, I think you're acknowledging something that I will post about in the future. The fewer decisions we have to make (because we've already decided that fitness is a priority, for example), the more likely it is that we will develop disciplines that honor the Lord. Wish I had a video of Gari to share. His enthusiasm is infectious!
So glad you got some inspiration. I think it's helpful to be asked about our godly goals, so I'll be asking you how you're doing! :-)
Lately I have been struggling to determine how to spend my writing time. I have a limited amount of time and an unlimited number of ideas. I'd love to do it all, but that isn't reasonable when I have a... Continue reading
