I'd like to add my squee to this pile, please.
"you are hearing me talk"
I'm working on an audiobook -- actually, a series of five audiobooks -- for the next two weeks. I don't know if I can say what it is, but I think it's safe to reveal that it's a classic fantasy series from the 80s, and I'm actually quite surprised it isn't already available in audio. I really li...
We totally need a WWCAA logo.
In which I realize I need to say Thank You...
On Sunday, I was personally offended that Chris Brown performed at the Grammys. Violence against anyone is never okay, but the quiet acceptance of violence against women we see all over the world is especially reprehensible to me. Allowing someone who beat his girlfriend so severely she was hosp...
You should totally try Mansions of Madness. We played both Elder Sign and Mansions this last weekend and while Sign was awesome, there's not much that can top a full-on investigators-vs-insanity showdown.
Check out this pick of the final fight, mortals against Shoggoth and friends:

So very awesome. Also, now I'm insane, so there's that.
If I say that my somewhat extravagant imagination yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature, I shall not be unfaithful to the spirit of the thing.
Since I started tabletop gaming mumblecough years ago, I've always found storytelling inspiration from the RPGs. From designing my character and developing his back story, to building a world and populating it with allies and adversaries, the games I've played have lived on in my imagination lon...
I get that. What works for me is to make a deadline to create something, but never post it. No quality pressure, no length pressure, just some rambling that nobody will ever see.
It's surprising how fast it becomes easy again, and share-able.
it's just this dream he keeps having
There's a moment every day when I think, "I should have written about that in my blog," but then I realize that instead of planting the seeds that would grow into a story, I put them in boxes on a shelf called Twitter, or Tumblr, or Google Plus. They're nice seeds and all, and they look great in...
*sticking fingers in ears* LALALALALALAAAA!
Okay, no Descent. My second fav is Space Alert:

I'm not gonna lie to you. It's a co-op game full of cursing and finger-pointing at your crewmates, and more often than not, explosive decompression.
BUT! There's a Star Trek app for this thing that replaces the included audio CD with a Trek flavored one.
Can you ask for more than that?
THE CORRECT ANSWER IS NO.
on the importance of making time to play the games you like with the people you love
In the introduction to my short collection of gaming essays called Games Matter, I wrote: Of all the things that make me a geek, nothing brings me more joy, or is more important to me, than gaming. I am the person I am today because of the games I played and the people I played them with as I ...
One word: DESCENT!
For good old fashioned boardgaming- meaning meatspace, eye-to-eye, death-to-the-loser fun- allow me to suggest Descent, KING OF ALL GAMES!

Seriously, best game ever. One of you (meaning me) is the Overlord, trying his best to bring peace and love through the application of delightful monster hugs, and the other players are treasure-thieving home invaders. Booo.
You can also get campaign expansions that let you play across an entire continent, instead of one dungeon per game. The latest one is called Sea of Blood, and features ship to ship combat. Or ship to Leviathan combat, which is much quicker.
Seriously, though. Give it a try.

Writing about writing so I can get back to writing because today I'm having a hard time writing
I'm having a great time writing this thing that I can't get too specific about, but I'm severely blocked on today's work, so I thought I'd talk about writing instead of writing, in the hopes that it shakes up my brain and lets me get back to writing. When I write fiction, the first thing I do is...
Thanks! As for the publisher...
I want to say myself, although that's not strictly speaking true. I had a professional editor and cover artist, as well as graphic designer and formatter.
Here's who helped: http://wp.me/pifqR-4R
I also have an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit where I discuss how and why I self-pubbed: http://redd.it/jyowm

Wow, thanks for the huge flood of visitors, folks! I'm overwhelmed :)
Have a free book on me in appreciation (first come, first serve)!

Thanks, but all credit goes to Vincent Chong, Cleverest Cover Artist in the World(tm)!
Oh, I dunno if you ever got it, but I secretly sent you an e-copy of my other book a few weeks ago, with a sappy message and lots of tearful hugging. (Message did not include hugging.)
No response necessary, of course, just a tip of the hat.

I feel your pain, dude. I'm going over the final draft of my second book in a frenzy right now, because it's due for proofing tomorrow. (Note that I'm reading your blog instead of pushing through, because I'm a weak, weak man...)
I've gone over it about a million times, and I *just now* ripped out a big chunk of a chapter because it didn't work.
BRAIN, Y U NO SEE THAT SOONER?
On the plus side, my cover art arrived, and I'm pretty stoked about how it came out. W00t! http://wp.me/pifqR-6y
In any case, the last six hours are still a win in my opinion, no matter what came out of it. You maintained AIC discipline, the only thing that really matters in writing.
AIC, of course, stands for Ass In Chair.
