Just so you know, the last couple of months I've been dealing with the loss of my mom. Mom passed away May 2nd from complications of a very risky vascular surgery, extremely poor blood circulation and infection throughout and gangrene in her foot. We're pretty sure she stroked too about a week before passing. Mom was almost 86 and very frail. Besides dealing with the bundle of intense emotions that comes with losing such a close loved one, I've been sorting through all of Mom's belongings. After selling and giving away what we (my brother, husband and I) don't want or need, I brought home what I didn't have time to sort through before needing to vacate Mom's apartment. So much of it holds sentimental value, so the sorting is taking quite a lot of time. The last few days I've needed a break from sorting Mom's thing and all of those heavy emotions, so I turned my focus to my Stampin' Up! business, which has been on the back burner for about 3 years. It was 3 years ago in April when Mom became so sick and frail. Expecting Mom's passing at any moment was very stifling to my creativity and productivity in general. Though I miss Mom something awful, I don't have that dreadful expectancy hanging over me anymore of a devastating call from my brother. It's been a relief to all of Mom's loved ones knowing Mom is no longer lingering in agony. I look forward to seeing her again when I too meet my Maker. So, over the last few days of trying to stoke up my Stampin' Up! business, I finally got my retired 2016-17 Stampin' Up! products listed and marked down. The retired products are from the Stampin' Up! 2016-17 catalogs, including the annual catalog, the 2016 Holiday catalog, the 2017 SAB and 2017 Occasions catalogs. Please click here to download/print my Excel doc of those products. I also have it as a Word doc. Please email if you need that instead. Or, see the below table showing my newly listed products. Also included on the list are a few previously retired items I've been hoarding. I have other products I need to let go of, but listing those will take a while. I need to do a physical reconciliation of all my retired products versus my lists to make sure I don't miss anything. I really need to clear things out so I can more easily move around my work space. So I'd be thrilled if you want to give a new home to some of my retired products. If you refer someone new to me and they order, I'll happily send you a token of my appreciation. Need to look up any product(s) and don't have a hard copy of the catalog(s), please see my list of retired catalog pdf's here. Need a retired catalog hard copy? Please click here to see what I have available. My retired catalogs are free with... Continue reading

I just ordered my Love Today planner kit and I can hardly wait to play with it. Also, I have the planner refill in my shopping cart. I'm really looking forward to a little daily journaling on the weekly sheets not filled with appointments or events. During the hot summer months, when people are beach going or otherwise vacationing, my calendar is pretty open. That's OK. Leaves me more time to journal and make cards, mini-albums and all those paper crafts we all enjoy. When I first saw the kit in the new 2017-18 Annual catalog, I thought "it's so pretty, but would I really use it?" So I asked my fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators for input. Apparently, all of the kits are now from Stampin' Up! and not sourced from a partnership, so the paper quality is what you'd expect from Stampin' Up! I learned that all of the inks Stampin' Up! offers work great with this kit without bleeding through or pilling! FYI: one demonstrator cautioned against using the aqua painter on the planner kit and refill pages. Too wet! However, the ink pads, the fine tip of the Stampin' Write markers and the blender pens work well. Yay!!! Since my hands are not very strong (to squeeze the lid to the inked pad), I always order the reinkers (refill bottles) to drop a little ink into the pad lid for coloring with the blender pens. Oh, of course, I'll also play with the new watercolor pencils (with blender pens). Ooh, even the Wink of Stella pen would be great for applying ink or pencil watercoloring. Not sure how to use the blender pens, the markers or the watercolor pencils or have questions about other techniques? Click here for tutorials by Stampin' Up! Another great thing about this kit, the days of the months aren't labeled so you can begin using the planner any time of the year. Be sure to watch the Stampin' Up! video below for a better look at the kit contents and to have answered just about any question you might have about the Love Today planner kit. Instead of hand writing in the numbers, the fun Labeler Alphabet stamp set is a natural for entering dates and names, etc. (birthdays and other events) on the planner pages. I plan on using a different ink color for each month. Eg. Brights for summer, Regals for fall and winter, etc. Remember, the In Colors will be fun and pretty too. Find all of the ink pads here. Be sure to get the Journaling Pens too! The 2 pens have nice fine tips for entering lots of thoughts or events on each day. Remember to pick up at least the Clear Block A for stamping single digits/letters of the Labeler Alphabet stamp set. Better yet, also pick up Block G, Block H and/or Block I for longer words or numbers. For saving time and hassle, I decided to order the full Clear Block Bundle (2 in... Continue reading

Soft Sayings is a new all-inclusive crafting kit for making 16 greeting cards plus 4 gift tag cards. Click here for the card measurements. In fact, there is lots of flexibility as to which pieces you put together to make your cards. You don't have to duplicate the cards in the instructions, but you're certainly welcome to. Plus, you could also use the contents for scrapbooking. The kit includes a set of 15 photopolymer stamps, a clear stamp block, 20 printed card bases and coordinating printed envelopes, gift-able kraft box, die-cut accents, Stampin' Spot, Baker's Twine, washi tape and Stampin' Dimensionals. All you'll need to complete the cards is the adhesive of your choice. As you can see in the photo at left, the colors are soft and pretty and the patterns are sort of a watercolor look. To see the kit contents or to order, please click here or click on the photo. There is also a video at the item listing, but I've embedded it below for your convenience. Oh! And if you want to make more of the same pretty cards, there is also a Soft Sayings refill kit. To see/order all the goodies included in the refill kit, click here. There are actually several kits and many are all-inclusive like Soft Sayings. Click here to see the full assortment of the current Stampin' Up! kits. I have the Oh Happy Day kit carried over from the previous catalog and look forward to making the cards. Be sure to also check out the great card packs in the Memories and More category at my online store. That's all for now. Feel free to contact me if you have questions. One of the things I'm most excited about in the new 2017-18 Annual Catalog are the 3D Dynamic TIEF's. In fact, I ordered ALL of the new designs! I already have the first 2 3D DTIEF from the Holiday 2016 and Occasions 2017 catalogs. What's awesome about all of the 3D designs is the extra deep impressions that they give your paper crafting project, IE 3D texture. To see all of the embossing folder designs see pages 210-211 in the 2017-17 Annual Catalog or see them all at my online store at this link. The 3D folders are those which contain "Dynamic" in the name. I simply sort by price when I'm looking for the 3D designs. Since my order literally just shipped, I don't have any samples made yet, but you can see how easy they are to use and the gorgeous texture they create by watching the 2 brief videos below. In the next video, Shannon demos the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF released in the Holiday 2016 catalog. I'm so excited the folder was carried over to the new catalog and that others were added to the line. I can hardly wait to play with them. I love how just a narrow strip of the embossed paper really adds to a couple of the card designs (1 each in the videos). Besides giving the paper more texture, you can still do all of the other techniques you may have seen or tried with the standard folders, Eg. 1) inking the folder before running it through the Big Shot or 2) Inking the raised parts of the paper with a Stampin' Sponge or directly from an ink pad. I should have my order by early next week. I'll be sure to share my samples using the new 3D Dynamic TIEF hopefully next week. That's all for now, but thanks for stopping by. Feel free to ask if you have questions. Happy shopping and embossing, Michelle Continue reading

If you're anything like me, you LOVE the decorative patterned papers from Stampin' Up!, aka Designer Series Paper. (I even love the fragrance of a newly opened paper pack/stack!) The weight, patterns and colors are always so awesome that I wish I could order every single design. But since I live on a budget like most people, I have to narrow it down to just a few. Stampin' Up! has come up with what I think is a very clever method for showcasing each pattern pack/stack to help you make your selection. There's no guessing what the tiniest images are and hoping you like them once you have them in hand. You'll know before you order! Below are a few very brief videos published by Stampin' Up! in which they show each of the newly released Designer Series Papers from the 2017-18 Annual catalog design on the Youtube screen. Just like all of the Stampin' Up! new product videos, these videos sure helped me decide which papers to order. 2017-2018 Annual Catalog Designer Series Paper Stacks Specialty Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper (2017-2018 Annual Catalog) If you haven't already, I strongly recommend that you subscribe to the Stampin' Up! YouTube channel. Not only do they feature new products as they are released, but they also offer technique tutorials. I know I've learned a lot of techniques this way. Their videos, like I mentioned before, really help me decide which products I must have. Not sure how to use these gorgeous papers? Pinterest is, I think, the best way to see the any paper pattern in use. Simply enter "Designer Series Paper" or the name of the paper pack/stack in question into the Pinterest search engine and you'll get lots of samples to look at. Click here to visit my Pinterest board full of DSP usage examples. As with any current Stampin' Up! product, the new Designer Series Papers or otherwise, please visit my online store to place your order. That's all for now. QUESTIONS? Contact me any time. (FYI, I'm in the Pacific time zone.) Happy shopping and paper crafting, Michelle Need a new catalog? If you've placed an order with me in 2017 of $50 or more, I'll send you a free copy. If you're not an existing and recently ordering customer with me, and you do not already have a demonstrator you usually order from, email me for your copy or click on the Buy Now button below. Click to Enlarge The assembly line method is probably the quickest way to create multiples of any project. Simplicity of design is another way to speed up the process. But, "simple" doesn't mean boring or unfinished. It can also mean easy. Watch the video below to see Brandi's simple way to make 12 cards using the assemble line method and the Carried Away Designer Series Paper (DSP). The Carried Away DSP is a FREE Sale-a-bration (SAB) product that coordinates with the Lift Me Up stamp set, clear mount or wood mount, on page 10 in the 2017 Occasions catalog. Ordering the Lift Me Up wood mount bundle not only saves you 10% on the stamp set and matching thinlits dies, it also earns you 1 free SAB product. The coordinating Carried Away DSP perhaps? You can also earn the Carried Away DSP, or any other SAB product, by adding perhaps some ribbon to your clear mount Lift Me Up bundle order, still saving 10% on the stamps and die set. AND GUESS WHAT . . . 1) A lot of the stamp and die bundles will earn you a FREE SAB product. 2) Any of the DSP's packs will work beautifully for creating 12 similar cards See . . . that was easy huh! Click here to see all of the current stamp set and die bundles. Click here to see all of the current DSP's. Click here to see all of the SAB products currently available for FREE with every $50 ordered within a single order. All available while supplies last. Note: ordering anything in the current catalogs and/or at my online store, not just the stamp and die bundles, goes toward earning FREE SAB gift-with-purchase products. That includes any of the 2016 Holiday catalog carried over products and even from the Clearance Rack. QUESTIONS? Contact me anytime. Thanks for stopping by, Michelle Continue reading

Click here to see the FREEBIES you get to select from during the SAB sales period, IE today through March 31, 2017. SAB Details: In short, for every $50 purchased in each order between now and March 31st, you get to select a FREE product from the SAB catalog. For example: order $50, get 1 FREE SAB product, order $100 in a single order, select 2 FREE SAB items (2 different or 2 of the same thing). Order as many times as you like through that timeframe. Also, the 2017 Occasions catalog goes live today! Be sure to browse each of the catalogs, pictured and linked above. Both are valid for a limited time, so please don't wait until the last moment. I'd hate for you to miss out on getting your FREE SAB gift with your $50 order(s) because you waited too long and the order system was too busy to place your order. I can hardly wait for my pre-order from the Occasions catalog to arrive. I'm super excited to play with the new stamps, DSP's, trims and other embellishments, and of course the new Thinlits, Framelits and punches - some from the Occasions catalog and some I got as gifts with my purchase. As you know from yesterday's post, the Stampin' Up! Year-End Closeout Sale is now in full swing. If you haven't already been to my online store to take advantage of the great deals on limited availability products, you'll want to get over to my online store NOW. Products are already selling out! While you're at my online store, make sure you don't miss the terrific "Hello Life" project kit, #137949. This kit was $25, but not it's only $10 and it includes loads of goodies. The 14" x 17" black wire frame alone is worth more than the current sale price. The photo below/right shows the completed kit as it was designed to be assembled. Watch the video for some hints and tips to complete the kit as designed. OR with just a few added bits of paper you can create alternate projects like those in the photos below. Click the images to download the pdf instructions for each set of alternate projects. (The pdf's may also be downloaded directly from my online store where you order this kit.) OR, visit Pinterest for more ideas. OR use your own imagination. One thing I thought I'd do with the Crushed Curry twine is make tassels instead of pompoms. Small tassels would be really cute on cards or gift tags, similar to these here. And larger tassels would make fun holiday ornaments! Remember, feel free to contact me if you have questions. Otherwise, visit my online store for some really great discounts. Thanks for stopping by, Michelle Continue reading

NOT! . . . although, I am having fun with our new distraction. After agonizing over how unfair it was to lose Trevor, our 6th dog lost to serious illness (4 were boxers), and crying for almost a month and a half, we brought home Cali-Rae, a pure bred boxer puppy, last Saturday night. We're thrilled we found her on a Los Angeles dog rescue site almost right after she was listed. Her picture instantly stole our hearts. She looked so sweet and attentive. I love her classic fawn markings and her coloring. Her coat is almost red in the sunlight. Exactly as I hoped, she looks nothing like any of our previous boxers. I want to look her in the face and see nobody but her sweet self. At just under 17 weeks old when we brought her home, she was already crate trained and taught "sit", "off" and probably "no" by her foster mom. And, she's learning about life as part of our family at an astonishing rate. Today, after being with us for only 4 nights and 3 days, she showed me she can communicate when she needs to go outside! We're so proud of her and grateful that she's smart. But, as a boxer, she definitely has a mind of her own. Of course, we knew what we were getting ourselves into when we chose to adopt another boxer puppy. Yesterday, it took the vet, the vet tech and me to hold her still for her rabies vaccine, and the overall new puppy examination - listening to her heart and lungs and looking into her ears and eyes, etc. Yes, we will be working more diligently on "passive restraint" for future vet visits. We received a very good report on Cali Rae's puppy check up. Thank You, Lord! Of course, Cali Rae will never replace Trevor, or Lilly, Maxwell, Matty, Harley or Cody in our hearts. Each have left an indelible mark on both Gary and me. However, having her join our family really helps ease the deep pain we've been feeling from losing Trevor on Sept. 29th. Cali Rae, like each of our other 6 fur babies, is very special in her own right. We'll try our best not to spend her life "waiting for the other shoe to drop", like we did with Trevor after we lost Lilly early Dec. 2012. We pray for a long and healthy life for Cali Rae and we're enjoying the love she's already brought into our home. I promise that as the pup matures and doesn't have to be constantly supervised, I'll begin sharing a lot of paper creations. However, for the next few months anyway, I'm hoping her nap-times will allow me to get my household chores done, as well as create some fall greetings and our Christmas cards. It would be nice if they are delivered before Dec. 25th this year. While Cali Rae is awake I spend most of my time teaching her basic commands... Continue reading

"I think every one of us can agree that we love to create. Making things by hand makes us happy. But when we share these creations with others? It makes them happy… and there’s nothing better! It’s so simple, but that act of kindness can brighten someone’s day and have a lasting impact." Don't you agree? I definitely agree! This quote if from the website of a favorite card making expert, Jennifer McQuire, who's style is clean and simple. I find her work very inspiring and I'll be sharing my take on her projects using my Stampin' Up! products as soon as I make room to work in my studio. (It became a dumping ground over the last few months while I dealt with our sick dog.) I gotta get on the stick! The man in the brown truck will deliver my recent Stampin' Up! order tomorrow! So, watch for new projects and be sure to subscribe to my blog or "like" my Facebook fan page for automatic updates. Continue reading

Last year, during the holidays, I made some delicious "hay stacks" chocolates, but the recipe made way more than we wanted to keep around the house. We gave a bunch to my mom and my brother as part of their care package of Christmas dinner leftovers. It was kind of embarrassing to put it into a baggie, but I didn't have appropriate gift wrapping for the candy. If I'd thought to use packaging like in the brief video below (just posted by Stampin' Up!), I would've gift wrapped the rest of the chocolates and given them to our neighbors. And that's exactly what I'll do with the sweet treats I make for this Christmas season. I have everything I need, so it will be a lot of fun making the tags. See the chart at the bottom of this post for each product featured in the video. Note: I have the Cheerful Tags, the Merry Tags and the Tags & Labels framelit sets so I'll use them instead of the Tin of Tags kit in the video. The kit is really cute and very quick, easy, economical and fun to put together, but I need to use the materials I already have from Stampin' Up! Here's a few samples from my online store using 2 of the above mentioned tag framelit sets. Remember that yesterday I ordered my Stitched Shapes framelits? I learned this AM that my order already shipped. Woo Hoo! I can get started on my gift tags this weekend and be ahead of the holiday crunch for once. (Insert big grin here!) OK, gotta go. I'm still working to clear my work space of abandoned art journal entry projects. Turns out I enjoy making the actual journals/books more than the journal entry part. For now anyway. I'll share some books and journals once I get more made with my abundance of Stampin' Up! materials. See the mixed media art journal I made a while back in this post. Please subscribe to this blog to see my gift tags, greeting cards and other projects and promos as soon as they're published. Email me at boxer3086@sbcglobal.net if you have questions. Thanks for stopping by, Michelle PS: Stampin' Up! offers food safe cellophane, glassine and brown paper bags in smaller sizes as well, great for other gift ideas. Just go to my online store and enter "cello" or "bags" in the search engine for additional gift bag options. Gusseted Cellophane Bags, 6" x 17", 142001 Baker's Twine Trio Pack, 141999 Tin of Tags, 142011 Glitter Ribbon Combo Pack, 142015 Stitched Edge Ribbon, 141984 Ribbon Silky Taffeta Combo Pack, 141989 Mica Flakes Trio Pack, 141998 Click here for more Ribbons & Trims Paper Snips, 103579 Cheerful Tags, 141838 Merry Tags, 141835 Tags & Labels, 138282 Continue reading

As stated in my blog post here, beginning today and all through November, you can order the Stitched Shapes framelit die set, #145372, in advance of the offical release in the 2017-18 Annual catalog. To order click here for my online store. I ordered my Stitched Shapes framelit die set first thing this morning. I'm anxious to play with it, especially in combination with the Layering Circles, Ovals and Squares framelit die sets from the 2016-17 annual catalog and all of the Holiday catalog items I've already ordered. I'm clearing my workshpace today to make room to start on my Christmas cards. Also beginning today is the 25% off sale for the 12 stamp sets listed in the flyer, left. Click here to see those 12 sale stamp sets. Many of the sets are from the beautiful 2016 Holiday catalog and a few are from the gorgeous 2016-17 annual catalog. To see the current catalog pdf's, click here. Be sure to bookmark the catalogs for future reference. If you don't have a copy of the current catalogs to refer to, it's always a good idea to save the Stampin' Up! catalogs or at least bookmark them. It's super easy to find things with the Adobe Acrobat pdf reader search function. (Click here to download the latest Free Acrobat pdf reader program.) The catalogs, even after retiring, offer loads of awesome creative inspiration. I save them on a thumb drive and refer to them when I post retired products for sale or to find something a customer might be seeking. BTW, I have a lot of copies of retired catalogs available for free. I noticed one of the stamp sets on sale, Blooms & Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set, #141784, was used to create the sample pictured to the below/right. Click to enlarge! Notice the sample features soft shades of Christmas colors, IE red and green. When I got my Blooms & Wishes stamp set, I doubt I would've thought to make a poinsettia with the set. The annual catalog samples, page 139, and the samples displayed at my online store feature spring colors inspired by the coordinating Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper, #141654. I love the colors in the DSP, but I also love the versatility of the stamp set images for all the seasons. You can find dozens, if not 100's, more sample projects for each of the stamp sets by searching Pinterest by stamp set name. That goes for just about any of the Stampin' Up! products. Be sure to order your Stitched Shapes framelit die set, #145372 while you can this month or you'll have to wait until June 2017 for another chance to order it. Questions? Did you know that studies show spending time being creative is good for your health? The more often you do something creative, the better you'll feel. I didn't know studies had been done on the subject until I read this article, "Why crafting is good for mental health". I highly recommend reading the full article, but my take-away was, in short, being creative can cause the release of 3 specific natural chemicals in our bodies that give us a non-medicinal, IE drug-free, feel-good reaction. That fact is more than enough for me to want to make a point to craft a lot more! As a crafter since I was a Brownie in Girl Scouts during first and second grade, I've known that when I create something, like a stamped card, pretty gift packaging or even a simple pair of earrings, I feel great because I've accomplished something worthwhile. In the case of earrings, I can give them as a gift or I can wear them for years to come. In the case of a greeting card and/or gift packaging, that is the sort of thing that really touches the heart of the recipient. Everyone knows a handmade gift is always a gift from the heart. So . . . I want to remind you that Stampin' Up! makes it easy and affordable for you to be creative on a regular basis. How? With Paper Pumpkin, of course! As a subscriber, your Paper Pumpkin kit comes to you each month for as long as you'd like. Each kit comes with all of the paper products and trims pre-cut and ready to assemble. Most kits (but not the refills) come with a mini stamp set and a Stampin' Spot mini ink pad. Check out the links below for more info or to subscribe. Actually, I could give a very long list of reasons why I've remained a loyal demonstrator for Stampin' Up! for 20 years. For now though I want to share just 1 super important reason: They take outstanding care of their demonstrators. I got an email from Stampin' Up! this AM with regard to Hurricane Matthew, and I quote: "Thoughts and Prayers with Those Impacted by Hurricane" "Our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by Hurricane Matthew. If you, or anyone you know, have suffered a loss of Stampin’ Up! business materials, please reach out to Demonstrator Support. They are ready to help those affected in getting their business up and going again. Sincerely, Stampin’ Up!" Need I say more about how Stampin' Up! takes care of their own? I don't think so. However, I join Stampin' Up! and countless others in prayer for the victims of Hurricane Matthew and for their loved ones. It will obviously take a long time to recover from such devastation. So I also pray for all of the workers, volunteers and otherwise, trying to get the area cleaned up and back to a healthy living environment. Just in case: Because of the support expressed above, you might feel a nudge toward joining the Stampin' Up! community as a demonstrator. If you have questions, feel free to contact me at boxer3086@sbcglobal.net, contact me here, click here for more information, or locate a demonstrator near you. Or click here to join my team. Below is a peak at the starter kit product suggestions. Because you may already have many or even all of the suggested products, Stampin' Up! allows for full customization of your personal starter kit. CLICK ON PHOTO TO ENLARGE So, as I said, because of the support I've enjoyed from Stampin' Up! corporate, I continue as a loyal demonstrator. If you're not yet ready to become a demonstrator, I understand. It may not be right for you, for right now or ever. But if you know someone who has been considering it, please refer them here. Regardless of whether you're interested, you are invited to pray, or continue to pray, with me and Stampin' Up! for the victims of Hurricane Mathew. Thanks for stopping by, Michelle Continue reading
