Good Morning Gentle Readers, Milton, Terry, and I have known each other since humanity emerged from barbarism and began crafting wine in the Fertile Crescent. There's maybe a half-dozen of us guys, who rode murdercycles and committed other assorted atrocities... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, I hadn't seen her since we moved her into Claremont McKenna dorms in August so I was happy to have lunch with The House Blond at The Host Bar and Grill, which is an Asian/Fusion place... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, When KT was born, I worked out how old I'd be on her eighteenth birthday. Don't ask. Let's just say old. Some people my age have grandkids her age. At the time, it seemed way off... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Mrs TWC wrote this in response to the way in which public education reacted to the criminal terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The essay appeared September 15, 2001 on Mrs TWC's blog and was reprinted... Continue reading

SA, I believe that Beans is like Nipper, he just loves to eat. He is a big fan of pasta with cream sauce and loves a spill of coffee in the morning. Thanks for asking about the fire. Yes, we are safe. The entire city of LA and the county of Orange are between us and the flames.
So I've been advised all day on FB, SA. LOL This hasn't been a problem. Maybe because cab grapes are tiny compared to regular grapes? Maybe because Beans is such a yuuuuuggggeeee dog? Or maybe size doesn't matter. Maybe because he really hasn't chowed down on very many grapes? I dunno any of this. I did not know grapes could be toxic to dogs. But I also can't imagine a dog eating grapes in the first place.

Good Morning Gentle Readers, For several weeks, TWC has been trying to decide what kind of varmints are getting at the Cabernet grapes. Might be birds, but it doesn't look exactly that way. Birds are indiscriminate, they peck everything and... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Sonoma's St Francis Winery has always been a favorite of mine. Longer ago than I care to recall, my old friend, Jim, introduced me to St Francis Merlot. Merlot is a traditional Bordeaux blending grape that... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, The key to a relatively painless car ride across the vast Mojave Desert from Las Vegas to LA Metro on a Sunday is to get the heck out of Dodge early. By the time I packed... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Got a rude surprise this morning when I walked into the kitchen to billowing smoke and the air quality of Fresno on a sweltering August afternoon. The plan was to slide the skillet away from the... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Tucked away in the back of the third shelf down in the cellar was this pleasant little surprise. It's a Tempranillo that kind of put me in the mind of a medium bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. Maybe... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Starting at the end seems like a fine place to begin. When the bucket list wilderness river adventure concluded, it was a 13 hour ride from Green River to home (659 miles). Even still, that looks... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Thirty-some years ago I used an outside computer processing service to produce financial statements, general ledgers, and tax returns for my clients. It was really expensive, but still more efficient and cost effective than keeping manual... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Mrs TWC is having French Press coffee with her breakfast at her hotel in Philly. She texted me the arrival time of her flight and we chit-chatted a bit. It's rainy and cold in Philadelphia. Yes,... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, My buddy Bill suggested celebrating the end of tax season with a good wine, so I rummaged around in my office wine fridge and surfaced with a bottle of Mondavi Reserve. Y'all might remember those odd... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Blackie always looks like his mother just died. He's getting old and suffers stoically with his ongoing health problems. When it came time to see a man about a horse this morning, he politely refused to... Continue reading
