Good Morning Gentle Readers, It's now an official word (phrase?).... TWC would have preferred Wine Thirty, but this will do nicely, thankee. The free online dictionary of current usage, created by the publishers of the venerable Oxford English Dictionary, issued... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Ma marked her 88th birthday today.TWC talked to her for an hour or so earlier this afternoon. She was having a relatively pain-free day, which is always a good thing. TWC has more of her genes... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, I am thinking about knocking back a few shots of Tequila before I get my eyes burned out this afternoon. The doc says they're going to give me Xanax, but I'm thinking that might not be... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, TWC was in Lost Wages for Trump's recent speech at Freedom Fest. I was really there because Mrs TWC was speaking at the conference. One of the many perks of being married to her is the... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, This day we celebrate our independence and the promise envisioned by the founders. The promise comes up a little tarnished now and again, but it's something we can point to when we tell the nice police... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, The original Serenity Prayer is here. Most of us are only familiar with the short version..... GOD, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can,... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Sunday was Father's Day. To celebrate, The Boy and several of his friends took us dads shooting. The spot where they like to shoot is a few miles out in the hills and is also where... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Ran into a hitchhiker the other day out at Lake Havasu. Note: the injection molded orange rubber feet are a very handy way to hang on to the railing. As Always, Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Today is Memorial Day, Decoration Day, as ordered by General Logan. A day set aside to honor the Civil War dead, a war that killed more Americans than all other wars combined...... The 30th of May,... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Before this blog existed and long before there was FB. There was the world's longest-running, floating website, which was the forerunner of this blog. In the same way that a floating crap game keeps moving, my... Continue reading

Usually with fava beans and a nice Chianti. But sometimes I make an exception.

Good Morning Gentle Readers, I hadn't had a glass of Sterling in a long time. Quite frankly, I thought the wine was a bit expensive and a bit astringent. IOW, the wines in question, which were mostly Merlots, weren't working... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Ours was a smallish wedding at a chapel somewhere in Anaheim. It lasted too long, in part because the Most Reverend Joseph L Montoya just kept right on. And on. And on. Worse: the staff left... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Ma will be 88 years old this August. She has given up dancing on Saturday nights and the circulation in her legs could be better, but she still gets around pretty well. This is us, in... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Leaning up against the coffee maker this morning was a business size envelope with a note on the outside. For Mom. In keeping with Anna Jarvis' original vision of what Mother's Day should be, inside was... Continue reading

Good Morning Gentle Readers, Although May can be windy and cold here in So Cal, rain is seldom on the calendar. Last night's rain wasn't enough to cure the drought, but it washed the dust off, freshened the air, and... Continue reading

Glen, Thanks. I've been to Maui twice and I thought the food in Waikiki was a bit better and less expensive than Maui or the Big Island. Not that we didn't have good food on Maui and not that every place we ate on Oahu was awesome, but generally I think there's more competition and therefore better prices, service, and food quality on Oahu. We went up to North Shore. Thought we had found a great place to snorkel until we realized that the dunes hid the shore break from us until we were right on the beach. You are right, though, awesome spot.
