Alok - Lync always checks a SIP address to determine if the user has a Lync account prior to sending the call out the static route. Therefore you can have a static route which matches any of the SIP domains which Lync is hosting.

Last week there was a question in the Technet forums by an admin who was writing a script to enable new or disabled users for Lync and the admin was trying to figure out how to handle the error that is returned when a Lync user doesn’t exist or is disabled (thread is here). While there are probably a number of ways to do this I was intrigued by how one might find specific errors and act upon them. As you can see in the Technet thread I gave a quick workaround by suggesting the use of -errorvariable to write... Continue reading

Good point - I don't use that view but can confirm that it doesn't show up in the Name View.

I noticed this little gem after upgrading my Lync client to CU5. A very brief poll seems to indicate that this is indeed a new feature. Note the small down arrow below the call button. Clicking that expands the view so that you can see the entire out of office (OOF, to current and former Microsoft employees) note, complete with a scroll bar if the message is long. This is a nice little feature that saves me from having to open the contact card to read people’s (sometimes lengthy) out of office notes. Now I just need more people to... Continue reading

About a month ago I acquired a Jabra 9470 headset to test out, and now that I’ve been using it for a while I thought I’d give a quick review for others who may be interested. Prior to receiving the 9470 I had used a 9350 for years and really liked it, so I was looking forward to some of the new features of the 9470. Configuration My configuration on the 9470 includes a USB connection to my docking station and an electronic hook switch (EHS) connection to my Polycom VVX 500 phone, which is also registered to Lync. Note... Continue reading

Correct, you need to create the route only in OCS and re-run the merge topology process in Lync to get the route in both places.
No, routes can go from OCS to Lync when you merge the topology but not the other direction.

Brandon, There should be almost nothing to it - just go to SIP Advanced and enable the ICE Server Environment for MS and you'll be good to go. If you don't see that setting then you'll need to upgrade your RMX to the latest version. Mike

Ok, I just tested this with an RMX1500 on 7.6 using a VMR with legacy content enabled. I dialed it from Lync and from an HDX using H.323, then I shared content from the HDX using the VGA cable. Lync received the content in the video stream as expected. So it definitely works with what you have. I think the best course of action would be for you to open a ticket with Polycom to get additional support.

That definitely should work. Let me test it and I'll get back to you.

Enabling legacy content should be all that is required. Which version of RMX are you running and with what type of MPM card(s)?

I’ve been fortunate enough to have a Polycom CX7000 available to me for a while and I thought I’d give a quick run-down of the device now that it’s getting close to release. Please note that since the product is not yet released some of the capabilities and/or UI elements may change in the release version. The official CX7000 product page can be found here. The CX7000 is a dedicated room system that is designed to be used in a very similar manner to a traditional video conferencing system, but instead of being based on the traditional H.323 protocol it...
