Deck's ReLoaded is a new ROM based on Kushdeck's 1.3d Gingerbread AOSP ROM. Deck's ROM was arguably the best AOSP Gingerbread build out there for the EVO 4G for a long time, so ReLoaded had a fairly rock solid base to begin with. ReLoaded uses the Aroma installer, which allows you to choose which options you're going to want available on first boot. With ReLoaded your main options are kernel, whether to include DTA2SD b4 which uses a partition on your SD card as internal memory, and quite a few useful root tools which you can install or leave out... If you're one of the people who pre-ordered the HTC EVO 4G LTE through Sprint, you might return home today to find a package from UPS containing an accessory for your phone. Some have told G&E of a note inside the package that thanks you for your patience with Sprint during the US Customs/Apple debacle as welll as a gel case for your new phone. It's not yet known if everyone is getting something, or if the accessories mentioned are all gel cases, but it's a pretty nice thing for Sprint to do considering that none of these delays were... Briefmobile.com posted a new leaked executable RUU for the HTC EVO 3D containing Android 4.0/Sense 3.6 that is potentially what Virgin Mobile will be using next month when the OTA rollouts start. There's not a lot of information on it other than it's an executable RUU that takes you through step by step updating your HTC EVO 3D to ICS on a PC. The main difference between what came out a few weeks ago and this is that this an executable RUU that does not require root or an unlocked bootloader to update. Anxious unrooted Virgin Mobile customers with EVO... Continue reading

The Google+ application has always been mostly a letdown for me. It's been ugly, slow, and smelled funny. But that all seems to have changed with an update released today. The one thing that Google+ had as a social network that was incredibly useful and nobody else had was the Hangout option. Unfortunately there was never a way until today to initiate one from the Android app. That's been remedied and you can now start a hangout and then go do other things while you wait for people to join. The stream has been redesigned to look wonderful too. Stream... Continue reading

Root Camp is a series that is aimed at all levels of rooted and non-root users who are interested in the things that root can do. Each week a topic will be posted, but the comments are open to discussion of any root topic, or a better way to do the topic. We'll see how it works and modify accordingly. Today's topic: Preparing your phone for any situation (rooted and unrooted), part one. You might need to share your 3G/4G (root/unrooted option) I don't use WiFi Tether except in extreme situations. Pretty much anywhere I go there's either free WiFi,... Continue reading

ok, ignore that... it is an argument by definition... *sigh* - freaking words...

that was a list of possible options, not a list of all the requirements. Sprint and Virgin Mobile have different methods of operation. You can hate how Sprint works and not despise VM. You can hate Sprint's rates and not hate Virgin Mobile's, hate Sprint's customer support, etc... Plus it's not an argument.

people who don't want a contract, who don't need the 4g lte, who want to pay $30-40 a month as opposed to $70-100, people who don't have the ability to get a contract with Sprint, people who hate Sprint, etc...

The HTC EVO V 4G, a no-contract Virgin Mobile version of Sprint's EVO 3D, is now available for pre-order at Radio Shack for $299.99 with an expected release date of May 31. The EVO V 4G will ship with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and HTC Sense 3.6. The 4G portion is Sprint/Virgin Mobile's WiMax 4G (not LTE 4G), so coverage is pretty slim and it's an already dead technology. It should be noted that the companies have committed to maintaining WiMax 4G where it is presently available so if you're in an area with WiMax, you'll be set. If... Continue reading

ZR3DX is a Sense 3.6/Ice Cream Sandwich based ROM based off of the Virgin Mobile leak. It's been modified to be 100% Sprint, with fully functional Visual Voice Mail, Sprint Account Info, and functional roaming toggles. Highlights of its feature list include Beats Audio, the Sony Bravia engine, 4G, camera with HDr and Panoramic Scenes, dimmed capacitive buttons, TVout, Tilt-3D homescreen, FM Radio App, and HTC Notes. As it's based off of the VM leak, if you've had problems with other ICS flavors on the EVO 3D, you'll have problems with this one if you're not using Chad's ICS patch... Continue reading

TypePad HTML Email You should not have to use SmartFlash if its S-OFF. I wonder what is up with that.
Most people who pledged in that thread donated to the S-OFF downgrade method... you can see a bunch of PP conf numbers posted...

Have we as of yet heard of anyone not getting a warranty replacement due to their phone being on the HTCDev registry?
That warning should have stated that the only damage you're risking is the same damage as if you touch your phone. The 1.4 downgrade method has more potential for damage than this does. Pulling out a battery mid-write that's plugged into a wall outlet more dangerous than potentially shocking a contact... plus danger of shock (next to nothing) can be eliminated with a rubber glove.

I have no idea. This flashes another hboot, beyond that I do not know. Ill check later and see if I can find out what a boost mobile flash entails Sent from my Android Powered Device on the Now Network

Yup. Its the whole package when you get S-OFF makes it a lot easier than the hoops you have to jump through for S-ON
1 reply
While there are other ways we've reported on how to get S-OFF on your HTC EVO 3D, they involve temporarily bricking your phone and reverting back to hboot 1.40 in order to subsequently root with Revolutionary. Unlimited.io released a method over the weekend that does not require a downgrade in order to achieve S-OFF, and will leave you with a 1.50 S-OFF EVO 3D with no need to use other exploits. The new method will require using the wire trick, a method in which you connect a contact to a ground on the back of the EVO 3D in order... Continue reading

Although Best Buy sent out emails to customers stating that the held-up HTC EVO 4G LTE shipments would be in their hands by the 23rd, less than a day later they're now retracting that statement. Pre-orders are still valid, and when the phones manage to clear customs from the Apple embargo they'll be in-store and waiting for pickup. There is no expected release date at the moment, as you can see from the email that G&E's John received above, but hopefully it'lll be very soon, as this action is annoying everyone and keeping the hot new EVO out of our... I think it's [SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage... I can't confirm it as I'm using google voice, but reading a Droid Bionic forum where they're saying just restoring that restored texts.

If you use ClockworkMod most likely. 4EXT has SmartFlash which does not require you to be connected to flash kernels, and they've said they'll be working on the ONE series (of which this is one) Sadly I can't find anything that I can point you to that says that, it popped up in my 4ext news yesterday and it does not show today so... no idea... and I was a couple of beers to the wind pre-gaming my birthday... heheh.. HTC Dumlock also probably will be ported over. Was the first workaround for the EVO 3D, got beat by 4ext though. And if Joey Krim has a couple of minutes I bet he can modify Flash Image GUI to work with it. Flash Image GUI will probably be the quickest to be able to port.. As there are no custom kernels yet, nor recoveries, obviously I can't say with 100% certainty, but we got around the BS on the 3D with no real problems.. and no computers needed

Days before the HTC EVO 4G LTE's original (and now delayed) official release, a stock rooted, leaked 1.12.651.2-based ROM has been published for it. If there was any wonder how fast root and custom development would get in motion, well, that's been answered. While the developer is working blind, meaning he has the code but not a phone to work on, it doesn't look like much remains other than a final test to determine whether it actually boots or not. I wouldn't suggest being the guinea pig for this. Something about flashing untested ROMs on a new device with an... Continue reading
