We work conventions, too, and I totally get what you say about it being a hard, tiring job. I also completely understand the reaction to mobbing. It must be very unnerving. (We are not famous, so we wouldn't know about *that*.) All I can say about you at a convention is that you seemed very uncomfortable and weirded out by it. We met you in PHXCC in 09 and you seemed a bit like you really didn't want to be there. You were nice, but not very warm. //NOT judging, just offering some input from the other side of the table!! We love you and your work and appreciate the stress of cons. We hope you don't have to deal with crazy people often and we hope it won't further affect your con experiences. SDCC is one helluva con and every crazy from everywhere is there. I can't imagine being famous at SDCC. GAH! And NO, you do NOT owe any of us fans a goddam thing. We know that! Which is why we stand in line to say HI and give you money for it. It's the way of things. Shake off the crazies and don't be afraid of us fans. We really like you and want you to be happy. Just know that 99% of the people who are on the other side of the table just want to say HI and give you money to do it. And THAT, my friend, is great work if you can get it. :)

I laughed so hard I peed a little. I feel EXACTLY the same way and it makes me feel SO much better that someone younger than I am by a few years is also put of by these 20somethings. I know MANY myself. They drop out of HS then bitch and moan about how much their crappy jobs suck. Well, DUH. Which is why I join you in a heartfelt GET OFF MY LAWN! oxoxo

Awesome! We've been together a bit over 10 years, too. And YES, being married to your best friend does indeed RULE. Congrats, you two! :-) Angela and Nick

I'd also like to add that your local shelters need your help, too! Here in Atlanta, there are literally 100k+ animals euthanised each year. So, while you are thinking about helping animals in general, please give to your local animal shelters. Thanks for doing this, Wheatons! It's a fine memorial for your girl and it's really great that you are raising awareness in general. :-)

I dreamed of this last night. I'm am crushed that I would dream such a thing and then to find out it happened... I'm so very sorry about Ferris. I'm definitely a pet person (they are my kids) and I understand your loss. My sincere condolences to you and your family. Take care and be kind to yourselves during this trying time. oxoxo Angela

"It was nice to be a a sci-fi con that was about celebrating the things we geeks love, instead of squeezing every last dime out of our pockets before sending us on our way with a bunch of hastily-scrawled autographs and disappointing, over-priced photo-ops." From your blog to the con gods' ears, my dear Wheaton. More cons should be concerned with everyone's enjoyment - for both the guests and the fans. Angela

Will someone PLEASE design that shirt? I don't have the time, but would TOTALLY buy one. Hey, Wil, see if Cheyenne will let you use the art! I think you've found your t shirt design for this site. It would be very cool to sell them and donate a portion of the proceeds to a good charity of some kind. I'll happily donate my time to deal with prepping the art for t shirt printing, etc. if someone else can get the art ready (at least in vector form). :-)

Yay, Wheaton! It's not a *problem*, it's just supporting your comic artists! It's a civic duty! It's good for the country! It is fighting terrorism! As a relative newbie to comics (4-5 years), I'm now MUCH worse than my husband. I get really cranky if my shop neglects to have my comics ordered and ready for me. I buy the singles and the books. I buy things because the cover is pretty - damn you, David Mack! So, just think of yourself as a patriot and supporter of a great industry. It works for me! ;-) BTW, we'll be at Comic-Con. Where can we find you? I've got my THDOOL book for you to sign. :-) And maybe JAG, too. Also, damn you Wheaton for making me cry while reading sections of THDOOL. Sometimes you have a way with understatement that can elicit SO much emotion. You are a superb memoir writer. Really. And getting better all the time. Mary Karr is an awesome memoir writer - if you've not read her, go pick up Liars Club. Can't wait for the next collection. Angela

Ok, Wil, you've opened yourself up to being barraged by Atlantans! LOL If you come to DragonCon this year, you'll be the ONLY attraction that my $65 is paying for. The Con has the same guests every year and we've heard the same 'stories from 20 years ago' soooo many times. We were going to more or less skip DragonCon this year - but not if you show up! It would be VERY refreshing to have someone new and with such a broad range of things to discuss. Of course with the Con overselling by thousands of tickets every year I doubt we'd get into any of your panels (I'm not much for waiting in line for hours) but we could at least come by your table and wait hours for that, right? ;-) In any case, we are coming out to Comic-Con in July and we hope to meet you then. Have fun in AZ! Angela and Nick

Put this on LJ then remembered it's a feed: This could be superfluous, but do you use a PayPal cart? Dreamweaver has a great extension for PayPal that puts in a really good cart. Maybe that will help? Good luck!! Angela ps: save one of those for ME!! :-)

Yah, I'm late, too. MrsVeteran, you make me laugh! I, too, am a geek in her 40s. And, yes, we geek girls are too busy to fill out questionnaires. You know, planning world domination takes a LOT of time!! LOL I come by for the writing, but also the occasional TNG story. I really do think of Wil as a writer now rather than an actor. Although GEEK could be higher in rank than actor OR writer! Yay for geeks boys! :-D Now, about those topless pix! ;-) Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

I had to laugh when I read that article! Ya damn right, terrorists! Don't you DARE bring hair gel into OUR airports, but if you need a little disco nappie, well, that'd be ok. And yet, all the sheeple still stand in line and tolerate the TSA's jackassery. I just don't get WHY. Why do we as a nation allow this? I'm pretty sure if we all bowed up and demanded an end to it, we'd get it. Wouldn't we? The thought of us NOT getting what we demand is weirding me out just a little...

Right on! I sooooo dread flying from ATL to Detroit next spring. I just know it's gonna suck out loud and I'll get belligerent. I tend to get VERY touchy when being talked down to by TSA Agents who barely graduated High School. (A friend of mine worked for the company contracted to hire TSA agents... You really don't want to know how many times they dumbed down the tests...) Anyway, I agree 100% with Wil's viewpoint on this issue. And apparently others do too. This begs the question: Why are we as a nation putting up with this happy horseshit?

Wil, welcome to the Homebodies Club. We all love to travel, but ultimately Home is Where the Heart is and we like it that way. I think it's a statement about one's overall contentment when one is perfectly happy to be at home. We *could* go out every weekend, but we choose to be here on the deck overlooking our little patch of the universe. It's nice. It's comforting. It's OURS. I pack everything I own for the Con and it's LOCAL! I also come home at least 3 times in 4 days to check my cats. I totally grok your feelings about travel vs home. Have a great time and take lots of pix! :-)

Thanks for popping over, Wil. I've left comments for you there if you care to read them. I will say to you here that if it's a not-enough-money thing to come to DragonCon, please let me know and I'll start working now to get you a better deal for next year. I really don't think you could possibly lose money coming here. Call Marina or LeVar if you want their impressions about it from last year. I posted your RE on the main DragonCon board and although everyone's bummed about this year, you'll notice that the Demand is still growing for next year. :-) Put us at the top of your list for Labour Day 2007, ok? Thanks for listening!

Wil, I had no idea that you were a part of Eventful's launch! It's a brilliant, brilliant idea and I think having you onboard is just hawesome! It's given us fans a place to concentrate our efforts and I've been telling every celebrity that I correspond with about it. Our DragonCon community has definitely latched on to the idea and I hope that it spreads like wildfire. You are such a multitalented person! At this point, StarTrek is the least of it. I see you as first and foremost a geek, then a writer then all the rest. I don't blame you for being OVER the 'former StarTrek actor' thing, but trust me, that is NOT how we think of you. You rawk and we hope to see you in Atlanta soon! :-)

Ok, Wil! We've got 214 ppl on our Demand for DragonCon. NOW will you at least consider it?? C'mon! We have wanted to meet you for YEARS! You have an invitation for this year's Con. You can talk to Eric, who runs TrekTrak for the most expedient response: trektrak@aol.com Thanks! Angela

Hey, Wil! Sorry to post off topic, but I couldn't find an appropriate entry! I wanted to ask why you only display 2 of your Demands? We've got one going for you to come to DragonCon here in Atlanta in September with 152 people onboard (so far). The Dragoncon folks tell me that you're invited just about every year (this one included) but you always decline? What gives? We REEAALLYY would love to meet you! One girl on the Dragoncon LJ said, "OMG, I would faint if I met Wil Wheaton!". Now, *that's* devotion! :-) So, think about it, would ya? Thanks!
