Okay, the Stitch n' Bitch caption for Mildred Pierce just CRACKS ME UP.
I'm oddly fascinated by Ms Crawford--I suppose I watched Mommy Dearest way too much as a child. Like you, I segued from the Faye Dunaway portrayal to some of her own work and remain blow away by her fierceness as an actress.
BTW--the link to the Lady's Circle interview isn't working.
Cast-On With Crawford
Joan Crawford remains — without a doubt — a controversial personality. My negative opinion of Joan has changed in the thirty years since I first saw Faye Dunaway in clown face shriek, "NO WIRE HANGERS!" — and later when at nine-years old I read Christina Crawford's revenge-for-being-disinheri...
This pretty much sums up the strangeness of being famous, I would think.
what is this i don't even
Apparently, a challenge was issued on EN World that went something like this: I see your Betty White, your Bea Arthur, and Estelle Getty and Rue McClanahan, and I raise you ALL of them playing D&D with Wil Wheaton in the middle of an iconic D&D bar fight, framed in bacon… Even though I haven...
These are just amazing. I love embroidery, but so often just do my own thing and am uninspired by kits -- but Rebecca's are the obvious exception to the rule!
Giveaway #14 :: Drop-Cloth Embroidery Sampler Kit
:: Giveaway #14 :: Rebecca Ringquist www.drop-cloth.blogspot.com You may remember my sharing with you here, about a new embroidery sampler that I started working on, thanks to the wonderful sampler design by Rebecca Ringquist. Well, I'm so happy that this week, you get to learn more about...
I decided on "finally" for 2010 (like, I finally got to meet Patti Digh! I didn't use that example in my Reverb 10 post today, but it's also applicable) and "more" for 2011. Like Cindy, I would say your post brought me to tears, but I was already a bit verklempt after finishing mine!
the one word is sacred.
I'm participating in a 31-day blogging challenge called reverb10, responding to writing prompts that are designed to elicit reflections on 2010, and hopes for 2011. You can find out more about it here. Today's challenge: One Word. Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choo...
It's so true, but so few people publicly admit it, so I really really congratulate your bravery here. I try to keep in mind a bit of wisdom my mum passed on: You can have it all, just not all at the same time!
I hope you continue to grow in new ways and give yourself permission to have the space in your life for that growth! Congrats :)
friday's confession: I can't do it all
That's right: I can't do it all. {Deep breath} I can't do it all...and that's okay. See, I've been feeling all this pressure lately. My etsy shop is up, which is awesome! But now I need to balance packaging orders (I made a sale to a stranger last week! woot!), producing new art, teaching myse...
Beautiful & true. Breaking from a fast results in a similar intense and good response to food.
I particularly appreciate that this quote recognizes that people can be resistant to these ideas, that we need time to bring them fully into our lives, that we may need gentle guidance, repeatedly, or some other inner epiphany that tells us, "What have I got to lose?"
mindful monday : mindful eating
Back in my mid-twenties, when my life felt out of control and I went on a one-month retreat, each time we sat down to eat we were instructed to be aware of what we were eating, where it came from, and the people who prepared it and to be thankful for it and eat it mindfully. Since I was resist...
