"time for patience is gone" While I understand the sentiment I also know there is no "fixing" what has been done to this country. Fixing this, IMO, is not worth agonizing over. Exposing the agents of the rot with no reckoning produces rage but ultimately it's more effective than getting a 20% conviction rate followed by "Now lets work together to FIX OUR PROBLEMS ... starting with all you deplorables." No. This is better than that. I'm all in.

The doctor tells Ole he only has a few days left to live. Ole thinks a little, looks hard at Lena, and says, “Lena, promise me. Swear to me that when I’m gone, you’ll marry Sven Svenson.” “SVEN SVENSON???” she shrieks. “You’ve hated him all your life!” Ole answers, “Ya, I still do.”

“ya” is pronounced as in "See ya later" and is also common for 'yeah' wherever Sven and Ole jokes are heard.

the Godel part is why AI is doomed I think I get the point but doubt that Gödel's theorem applies. Machine learning based on neural net technology is not limited by it. Of course if that's how AI happens it will be discovered rather than invented so we still won't know how to "design" it. Maybe that's part of your point.

Clarice ... it appears a bracket is misplaced in a quote ... According to Simpson’s testimony and documents, Fusion GPS was only paid about a million dollars by the DNC and Clinton campaign, which begs the questions of what was Hakluyt’s [Ed: another private UK intelligence operation closely connected to Hillary Clinton >]< cut and where did the rest of the money go?

I have a question .... If Trump can't block hostile twitter tweeter trolls because da judge sez freedom of speech ... ... how come twitter and other "private" quasi-monopoly internet communication services can block whoever they want? Hmmmm ?

"at this time, Trump is acting on the purest of motives" That's a big reason so many seem to have trouble understanding Trump. Trump just wants to be a good president by getting the country and its citizens back to liberty and prosperity. If it even occurs to them they would go "Nah, that's not it no way, gotta be something biggly nefarious just haven't figured it out yet ..." See ... people "acting on the purest of motives" are supposed to be sanctimonious squishy RINOs and that is so not Trump.

BOE looks to me like he shifts to natural E minor scale at the 12th fret for most of the solo then uses an E alt at the end to transition back into G# minor. We used to a couple of tunes of that album, but not Frankenstein.

McCarthy and others like Gowdy, Ryan, and Hume made/make the assumption that the integrity of law institutions was mostly intact. That assumption leads to the inference that Trump using the term "witch hunt" implies he is: a blowhard; a liar; or engaged in some kind of possibly nefarious plot to damage US institutions. Any Trump supporters who don't accept those options but assume the integrity of US institutions was mostly intact might validly infer Trump is engaged in high strategery to drain the swamp using undercover minions who look bad but are really good. Such assumptions appear to now be the wishful thinking of more than just a few. To the extent the first group prevented appreciation that Trump, again, has been essentially correct, that's the blame they bear. The 2nd group always backed Trump but incorrectly assumed there were institutional assets Trump could utilize. There may be something of a paradox with JOM detractors of the 2nd group (4-D peeps). Given such institutional assets were and are FUBAR ... the idea that Trump alone could simply demand allegiance or fire anyone he wants seems at least as mistaken as 4-D.

"a mistake using any oxy cleaner on your nice rugs" Oxy is chemistry based. A product that works better on pet spots is "Nature's Miracle" which is enzyme based. Biologic seems to work better than chemical without damaging inorganic non-biological materials. The little machines for spot cleaning work well too. Had a couple of those over the years but haven't replaced the last one that died since we started using the enzyme product. Most rooms now hardwood floor but if we had a lot of carpet another machine would be something we'd consider.

Skipping ahead to remark on this: "... cannot even define what 4-D chess is ..." One thing that bothers about McCarthy taking so long is that his credibility weighed against what Trump has been saying. So rational inferences would have been all along either: Trump is just a blowhard; Or Trump is lying; Or Trump is playing a deep deep game of 4D chess only he understands. So I think the McCarthy walkback takes some of the stigma off the 4D chess thing. So duh ... the 4D chess thing was a label for ... what defied definition.

And I endorse the CH "pompom" label because it seems an accurate characterization. Cheerleaders lead cheers for the home team. It's what they do. Does it help? Who can tell, but being mad at them when someone thinks the home team is blowing the game seems pointless to me.

I read RG differently. For me there is an element of "productive attitude" in his comments here that is comparable if opposite to OL's "constructive pessimism".

CH was it unfair to lump you in with those who proclaim Sessions, Rosenstein, Mueller are all useless or evil, and Trump needs to do something or else he's toast? Not saying that is wrong because I mostly agree. It's the "proclaiming" the unpleasant to which I refer.

"I could just as easily say that continued pessimism makes people give up. I have NOT said that." I agree that MM has not said that. Also, lecturing someone to do something that needs to be done that they can do something about is different than commenting on a blog. So ... do I think pessimism at JOM is a threat to the success of the Trump administration? No. Do you think more pessimism at JOM would contribute to the success of the Trump administration? If yes that might explain your motivation but it seems to me less credible than anything the pompomers are saying. Ultimately I am okay with either but would prefer less taking of offense.

"... and others have commented ..." ... On negative affect not your pessimism as much as promoting it. As I recall from my stint in the USAF wherever 1st amendment does not apply that sort of thing is considered counterproductive. But to be honest, and maybe I missed it, I've not seen that with MM, or porch or anyone other than fellow ex-military here.
