Oh, now I know what it is! And I confirm you that I love it! It has a very Italian name, but not common here. Usually it is called 'risoni', literally meaning 'big grains of rice'.
Shrimp with lemony orzo & tomato salad
Our container garden is overflowing after just a few weeks of growing. I honestly am having trouble keeping up with the herbs I planted and am constantly on the look out for recipes to use them in. My dill is working out much better this year than last and I was super excited to toss it into o...
This is strange... 'orzo' is the Italian word for the English word 'barley'. What is 'orzo' for you: a special type of rice, barley or something else? Looking at your wonderful picture, your orzo does not look like barley.
Anyway, congratulations! I would also like to taste this fancy "chicken"!

I like all these pictures, but my favorite is Little Pea eating the red plate. It reminds me of Nicky eating the high-chair tray (hopefully this is the right word). You are a wonderful Mom, your Peanuts are very lucky! Baci
A belated birthday recap
I've learned my lesson. In May 2012 I will have to figure out a better way to do Little Pea's birthday and Photo Day blog posts!! I can't believe it is June and I'm just now getting around to sharing the recap with you: Handyman Tim's spring project went all haywire on us at the last minute. ...
Yes, I am. I took pictures only with my iPhone on Tuesday. I hope they are not too blurred but I am not going to edit them.
Today I am using Nicky's point-and-shoot (my previous Casio), my iPhone and hopefully 'my baby' (the DLRS).
Nicky is participating taking some pictures. As you know, his point of view matters.
Day in the Life Project 2011: Upping the ante!
So if capturing priceless memories for your family isn't enough incentive to get you started on the Day in the Life Project, I'm going to add one more piece of fun. Let's have a photo contest! May 31 will be the final deadline for posting your project. I know a few of you out there are nervous ...
I have found it really difficult as well. I do not manage to capture a specific assignment on each specific day, so I have decided to take pictures when I can, even if it means 5 assignments in one single day.
But I am learning SO MUCH!!! Her photo tips are crystal-clear. She is teaching me everything I need to start shooting in manual. Great Workshop!
Joy of Love Workshop
I signed up for Wilette's free Joy of Love workshop for the month of February and we're over a week into the project. I'm sad to say it has been much harder for me to keep up with this project than anything else I've done photo related. The daily photo prompts have been nice inspiration, but I h...
WOW, what a question! I prefer Option 1, but Option 2 is a moment in your life.
I suggest you choose depending on your goal.
Maybe you can take another picture with the same subject in another week.

Project 2011: I need your help! A quickie poll
Shifting gears from Project 365 to Project 52 is so much harder than I imagined it would be. I'm just starting to realize how many days I fell back on "just take any photo, you need SOMETHING from today." For Project 52 I'm trying to push myself towards the highest quality photo every week that ...
Yes, I am! Yesterday I saw the link in your blog and I subscribed. I'm particularly interested in photo inspiration. We'll see the results.
"The Joy of Love" Photography Workshop
Easing up a bit on my photography tasks this year allows me to look for other new and cool projects to be involved in. I just got an email from Willette Photography about a FREE workshop she is offering for anyone interested in subscribing to her workshop email list. The workshop is titled "The ...
I'll participate with Nicky. Baci *
Project 2011: Friends of Peanut Blossom
After a lot of soul searching and stressing, I've officially decided that I'm ending my Project 365 on Dec. 31. I debated whether to pick it up again for 2011 but I'm so proud of this year's track record that I don't want to mar my "perfect attendance" next year and I can't handle the commitme...
How is it possibile that a rainbow is upside down? I've saved the photo thinking about God's smiling down on all of us. Do you mind me using it for my FB profile?
Stop and smell the . . . rainbows?
I know I went on and on yesterday about my long to-do lists and how busy I feel. Today I want to temper those sentiments by sharing a silly story from the weekend. We had a crazy productive weekend. Handyman Tim was busy being handy, I was running around doing a million loads of laundry and mak...
What I definitely LOVE in the second picture is the "adoration" that can be read in Little Pea's eyes. This is true love! Look at how they hold their little hands. Soooo sweet!
What makes me smile is that while the second picture seems captured in an ideal world, where everything is peacefully quiet, happy and pink, looking back at the first picture I read terror in Little Pea's eyes! This made me reconsider my opinion of the picture taken in an ideal world...
How NOT to take a Christmas card photo, 2nd Edition
One extremely common to-do list item this time of year is taking your family's annual holiday photo. I know Christmas/Hannukah/New Year's cards are going to be printed by the dozens over the coming weeks so this is the perfect time to chat a little about posing that photo. I've been starting to ...
She is SO cute!!! I love her blue eyes! And look at those cheeks! As your Dad says "she's a chubby little thing". I love this definition!
Survival of the fittest
I am really not sure how single moms do it. I truly salute any one of you stopping by that find yourself in that situation. We are right in the thick of Handyman Tim's fall outage season (translation: many many hours of overtime and travel) and I'm just doing all I can to keep my head above wate...
This site is great! I'm going to add it to Evernote so I can check it out tomorrow or on Sunday. Then I'll copy the checklist and I'll start it - hopefully soon.
My objective for 2010 was (well... IS) "Get organized" and up to now I'm pretty satisfied of the results.
It's not too late for your resolutions
I think something must be in the air--the changing of seasons is definitely bringing me a renewed motivation for organizing. I took a look back on my New Year's Resolutions from January and realized I still have some time to be working on them. Namely, my attempts to organize our home. I menti...
I've installed it on my iPhone. Now I'm downloading it on my PC. Can't wait to REALLY start using it!!! I must-must-must get deeper into it.

Evernote: your very own mind-blowing digital clippings binder
Did you ever tear a page out of a magazine or newspaper with the intent to save that idea or information for future reference? Did you ever make a fancy little binder to hold all your clippings in one spot? Maybe just even a file folder? Do you ever actually look in that binder or file folder? ...
Now I'm curious to read (or see) how they exchange comments about their idioms.
I remember the time we've spent comparing English and Italian. Not to talk about Italians talking with their hands! We laughed so much about this!!!! LOL
Book club: Eat Pray Love
This month's book club pick was "Eat Pray Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. Many of the ladies from our group choose books they've already read as a way of screening their choices. I, on the other hand, choose to gamble and pick things I've never read before but that have come recommended from trusted...
Right: I expected you served tiramisu! But I understand it takes time and the right ingredients.
Yesterday I had one of the best tiramisu I've ever had. Delicious!!!!!!!! I thought of you of course.
Feasting book club style
Last night was my turn to host my monthly book club. I had to cancel my previous turn at hosting during swine flu season last year so it has been almost 2 years since it was my turn to have the ladies over for chatting and snacks. I decided to spoil them with some fantastic munchies to make up f...
I've read the full Millennium trilogy and I've seen the first movie based on the books.
I'm not going to add any other comments until you tell me if you have seen the movie. ;-)
Book club: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
My book club ladies crack me up. In honor of this month's selection we feasted on all that Ikea's grocery section had to offer--Swedish meatballs, Swedish cheeses, Swedish fish, and a fantastic assortment of pastries that I can only assume are, you guessed it, Swedish. But the real kicker was tu...
Fantastica!
I love your sunglasses!!!!
Project 365: The half-way mark
I have been diligently clicking away for my Project365 this year and I can't believe we've reached the half-way mark already. I have a whole new perspective on what "a year" means and what it feels like. I've had ups and downs with the project, including one pretty major lull in the last couple ...
What I love in this picture is the halo on his head... "Holy Handyman Tim".
The "Noodles" logo is just behind him and it looks like painted on his head. Is it by chance our you asked him to stop in that exact position?
Irony in action
Over the weekend, I finally found the perfect moment to return to my sewing machine. I had some quiet time one morning and decided to work on a very small, very manageable project for the Peanut that I've had up my sleeve for some time. I dug up the fabric I needed, grabbed the Peanut, and set h...
I wanted to add a thumbnail but I ended up with adding a new Project. Feel free to remove one of the 2.
Get well soon... Baci.
Day in the Life Project: 2010 Participants
Edited on May 30, 2010: I have extended the deadline for sharing your links here until the end of June. My life has been crazy and I've been behind, so I thought it only fair to make it easy for anyone else who might be going through the same thing. This post is going to be featured at the top o...
Oh no... Get well soon!
A very Happy Easter to you and your family.
Dry toast and bed rest
I've been felled by a rampant stomach flu running wild in our neck of the woods. Handyman Tim has become Nursemaid Tim for the next day or so. So please excuse the short break I'm taking from writing. I'm hoping to be back in full swing right after the holiday weekend. A very happy Easter to you...
I love all these songs... "You've got a friend in me" is the song from Toy Story, Nicky's favorite movie! He can't wait to see Toy Story 3.

Tuesday Tunes: Birthday soundtrack
As I mentioned, I make a birthday video every year for the Peanut. It is so fun to look back over the year in photos at her birthday party. Picking just the right song can be a tricky thing for me. I generally try not to be overly sentimental but usually fail miserably in the effort. If I can fi...
I'll participate!! Can't wait to see the results!
PS: What time is it over there?!?!?! Isn't it terribly early?
A special invitation: the details!
Where does time go? In just a few weeks' time I will be marking one full year of blogging. I felt so silly starting everything up, wasn't really sure why I was even doing it. But as I look back at my 200+ posts, I see a common thread--taking notice of the small everyday things that make up my li...
This is absolutely gorgeous! I love it!
For Photoshop Fiends
I recently found out about Eye Candy Overlays' Photoshop overlays. I've loved seeing the examples of how to incorporate these graphic elements to photography and have been dying to give them a try for myself. Now I see that she is running a giveaway for two whole overlays sets of the winner's ch...
If I'm not too far away to participate, I'll join!

Pictures vs. Portraits: A special invitation
Since January 1 I have been participating in Project 365. You might have noticed the occasional photo I post from my project here on the blog, or you can view the work in progress over at Flickr. I'm glad I set out my goals at the very beginning or it would have been too easy to get lost in the ...
Oh Tiffy!!
These songs are so funny!!! But I love all of them!
"That's amore" is one of the songs that reminds me of you. I still have the lyric we printed out more than 10 years ago! I remember Luigi saying that Dean Martin's parents were Italian while you were singing the song! Oh my goodness...!
Paolo Conte is a surprise. Is he famous in the States? Actually in this song he is singing "La Comedie", which is French!!! The title "Come di" is Italian but it's not what he is saying! :D
I don't know Patrizio Buanne. His songs are a mix of Neapolitan and American. :D
Oh mamma' me voglio marita'...! means Oh Mom, I want to get married!

Tuesday Tunes: Unleash your inner Italian
Let me preface this post with an apology to my friend Moira, a faithful friend and reader that lives in Milan, Italy: I'd love to be there in person to see your face when you hear these "Italian lyrics", I can only imagine the humor you will find in them! On to the point of today's tunes list. ...
