The problem is that I think the tax arguement is most effective for people who don't have either a firm opinion or grasp on ACA.
It is the easiest dance step the GOP knows "Democrats are raising your taxes!" And in this case it is nominally true for some 4 to 6 percent of population.
To push back will be to have to explain the law, and that has been something of a failure for the past two years in a large macro-political sense.
