So, the anticipation is over and the summer holidays are finally here! (well they are in France at least ;o)) Whilst it would be lovely to think that the next 8/6 weeks will be a heady mix of wall to wall sunshine and carefree children brimming over with ideas to... Continue reading

posted by Cara Yesterday was our last day of school (ACK!!) The kids worked hard over the last weeks to make them a nice thank you gift. They painted 20x20cm canvases a bright happy colour and then chose another fun, coordinating colour for buttons. Then, a short sentiment ('bonheur') in... Continue reading

Don't worry, it's only mildly offensive! It's one of Captain Haddock's many insults and it translates as a thousand portholes; but I think in English he says blistering barnacles... Having seen the film for Philippe's birthday, Tom is now hooked on Tintin and we're steadily working our way through the... Continue reading

posted by Cara For Tom's birthday I wanted to make him something related to what he's interested in right now. Basically, that's Tintin and Star Wars Lego. Since, his party was Tintin themed and Helen had that covered, I went with Lego. I bought a plain box at the craft... Continue reading

If there's one toy that ALL the boys I know love, it's LEGO. So when I was looking for an idea to use as the basis for several cards this summer it seemed an obvious choice. However, I'm not one to choose the easy option of making three identical cards,... Continue reading

posted by Helen Our garden has two states - hard as concrete, or a mud bath. With all the rain we've had over the last few months, it's been mainly the latter. However, this hasn't dampened Tom and Joe's appetite for playing outdoors, in anything it seems to have increased... Continue reading

(posted by Cara) In France, making your first communion is a huge deal! People celebrate with elaborate parties and gifts. Since we had such a large guest list, 16 adults and 20 children, a restaurant was out of the question and a hall too impersonal. We had it here and... Continue reading

posted by Helen It's a phrase often heard round here and my reply is often a list of crafty things in the hope that I might inspire Tom to leave the computer or my phone for half an hour atleast. Today, after running through all the usual options which were... Continue reading

I used a stazon ink pad and letter stamps for their names, but you could use a fabric marker as well, you might want to use an iron to heat set it first so it won't fade in the wash.

Posted by Helen and Cara Sunday was the 'Fête des Mères' here, i.e. French Mother's day (managing to be different to both Canada and the UK) So we thought for a change we'd post some things that our super kids made for us. Over to Helen: Tommy made me a... Continue reading
