I love love love train travel and would do it more if it weren't so bloody expensive (and if I could carry-on my cat with me). The time consumption is one of the perks - it forces you to turn off for a little while because you really have no choice.
But the problem with train travel in this country is that it is underfunded and underutilized. Hopefully more of you with a public persona will sing the praises of the rail, thereby bringing it back in vogue.
