I really understand why Neytiri wanted to ambush Jake. I would be in "all sky-people must die!" mode myself if my sister was recently gunned down in front of me!

Wow! This is way more stuff than I thought they would put back in. Most of my favorite emotional bets that got cut from the script are in those scenes.

Why does Jake have a orange V on his forehead when he is choosing his ikran? My reaction to Jake's V is that the Na'vi were performing a tribal ritual; attempting to use sympathetic magic to change the painted V... Continue reading

Here you go Sartyiri. This is reasonably close to wallpaper sized.

Actually, I've read somewhere that Michelle Obama claimed that AVATAR was Barak Obama"s favorite movie last year.

My favorite image from Avatar. I love the line of Neytiri's jaw to her ear and how expressive her eyes are. If I found this on a tee-shirt I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Not knowing how the process works, its hard to say if more equals better. Certainly you could make that case from the movie scene you've mentioned compared to Grace's transfer scene. I think that one big difference is the number of Atokirina present at Jake's ceremony. It air is particularly thick with them. I especially like the one that is stuck between Neytiri and human Jake when she kisses him goodbye. It lights up the area between their hearts with a bright white light, which always strikes me as symbolic of the love they share. Beautiful scene...
The thing I think is interesting about this picture is how much bigger Jake's shoulders make him look compared to Neytiri. She's just a little bitty thing...

My favorite scene is when Eywa transfers Jake's consciousness into his avatar at the end of the movie. There is a moment after Jake dies when Neytiri leans over and kisses the human Jake's cheeks. An atokirina is floating between the their chests, brightly illuminating with its light. The moment moves me because it feels like the heart light is a symbol of the love they share. Beautiful moment.
I don't know if its my favorite line from AVATAR, but the quote about Earth just slays me: "There's no green there! They killed their Great Mother and they're going to do the same here." That line makes me tear up every single time I hear it, And I've heard it going on twenty times.Every day needs to be Earth Day.

I could swear someone posted most of these picture already. I saw them when I first came onsite Saturday morning. Look back through the pages and you should find them.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, followed closely by THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS.
I'm going to repost this from earlier, because there is some question as to whether Silwanin (Neytiri's sister) is in the picture. The thing is...Neytiri is the taller (and older) of the two girls on the banister. The taller girl is wearing all of Neytiri's clothing and equipment, her right ear has that huge piercing, and she has the same three vertical stripes around her navel that Neytiri displays. The smaller girl doesn't have the navel stripes, so she can't be Neytiri and Silwanin was supposed to be an older sister so she's not her either. In my opinion, this school picture shows only Neytiri, probably sometime after Silwanin had left the school, but before she died.

My favorite scene is the set up to their first kiss under the tree of voices. I love how Neytiri brings up the subject of mating in such an indirect manner (You can make a bow from Hometree. Oh by... Continue reading

QOTD: Symmetry. Aywa is showing that she isn't playing favorites. Jake got the apex predator of the air, so Aywa gave Neytiri the apex predator of the ground. This way they stay on approximately equal level in their relationship with... Continue reading

QOTD: Neytiri being pregnant at the end of Avatar would have been too reminiscent of the end of 10000 B.C. Cameron got accused of stealing from several different movies, so he probably just thought, "hmmm, steal from 10000 B.C.? Nahhh,... Continue reading

I agree with all of the above, although the Na'vi have what appears to be an opposible thumb for a big toe. You can really see it in use when Neytiri first mounts her ikran and when the Na'vi candidates climb the vines to the banshee rookery.
Norm learned after Grace died and before the final battle. Took him like three or four days. He wasn't kidding, taking all that Na'vi schooling back on earth. Norm rocked the Dire horse class.
Some critics have called It Avatar ‘anti-human.' Do you think that’s true? Why or why not? No! Not in the least. To think so completely misses the point of the movie. Avatar's divide is left brain/patriarchal attitudes for the humans... Continue reading

In the film, Quaritch seems to really like walking around in an AMP suit. Why do you think that is? I'm betting that about a thousand of our more geek-oriented brethren could easily answer that. It made the character feel... Continue reading
