I mean, come on, who doesn't love a good peanut butter cookie? Plus it's vegan. Plus it's almost organic. Plus it hit the spot when it comes to my crazy nut cravings this pregnancy. Seriously, I have surely already eaten my body weight, and then some, in nuts! These are super duper nutty. Mega rich. So know that a little goes a LONG way. Nash is a huge fan. Our neighbor Glenna took him for a walk and I had these waiting for them upon returning. Glenna was also ooohing, ahhhing and mmm'ing too! Walt gave them an ok, but... Continue reading

Delish and easy and only a few ingredients. Made these tonight for the fam and Walt and Nash loved them. We gave Nash his own dipping bowl of ketchup and that boy went to town. We paired them with Boca meatless chicken tenders and an orzo pasta. Yes, it was my preggo carb heaven. Ingredients: 1 medium eggplant 1/2 cup whole wheat bread crumbs 1/2 cup parmesan cheese 2 eggs whites Olive oil 1/2 tsp of dried oregano and basil salt & pepper Directions: Directions: Preheat the oven to 450°. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and lightly spray... Continue reading

So I think there is some confusion about our gender reveal party. I keep getting emails that say, 'Ok, wait...you and Walt had no idea what you were having either? I don't understand how you pulled it off! Excited to hear the details!' Let me explain. We had our appointment for the anatomical screening on a Friday morning. At the appointment, we kindly asked the technician to place the gender of our baby in one envelope titled HEB (clearly writing the word boy or girl) and the pictures in another envelope for us to see later. We had to close... Continue reading

To say that this little nugget of goodness had a 'good' time at his first birthday party is the biggest understatement ever. Nash partied like a rockstar and had a blast. We're so glad for this although we did prepare ourselves for potential baby melt downs and crying fits, just in case. He was actually the most pleasant, attentive, laid back and observant little fella. And how about the man of the hour wearing an ensemble that totally matched the decor...love it! Those suspenders (below) killed me, ha! Even Zola was in her party attire, a sparkly puppy sweater! Although... Continue reading

*DISCLAIMER: I'm not a doctor, I'm not a specialist, I'm not an herbalist, I'm not a psychiatrist. This is only what I've read, experienced and taken that already seems to be helping. PLEASE consult your Doctor/OBGYN before you add any vitamins or herbs to your daily routine!!!! So I've been MIA. I'm sure you've noticed. But I have my reasons. It's been a hard, really hard, last few weeks. Maybe even a month. I've been meaning to do the second post for the second half of our trip (Portland HERE, still have LA to do) out west. But haven't. I've... Continue reading

Recently, Nash and I spent a few days in Portland, OR with my older sister and her family. We had a freaking blast! It was so amazing to see Nash and his cousin Minnie laughing and creating memories. Well at least Minnie might remember. Minnie was WONDERFUL with Nash too...such a great big cousin. She was sweet, gentle and a pretty darn good sharer for a four year old. We did lots of outdoor activities and also hit up a few great spots for grub. Nash and I took this trip solo so THESE flight tips really came in handy.... Continue reading

Every once in a while you find a product that you absolutely love and adore as parents. This has happened a few times in our (almost) first year of parenthood and two of the products are actually by BABYBJÖRN. One of which is their high chair (more info HERE) and that's something we could go on and on about. Seriously, it rocks. We've had friends that have wee ones that literally HATE their high chairs and they've sat in ours for 30 minutes and longer. It's really a great, great product. Of course we also loved their carrier that we... Continue reading

Chillin' with my mister man, pre-flight at our gate...clearly expending some baby energy! Nash and I have flown quite a bit his first (almost) year of life. I think we have six round trip flights with over half of them being JUST THE TWO OF US. He's my great little traveler and I cherish the hilarious moments we've shared together already. My hope for Nash is that one day he'll have an innate love of travel and exploration, just like his parents. - Mo 1. Don't scrimp with your carry-on Ok, seriously...I have a checklist the size of Alaska with... Continue reading

Love my Momma's apple crumb pie. We recently had a few organic Braeburn apples that were super tart. I'm talkin so tart that our lips puckered when we ate one. You should've seen Nash's face. We knew right away these apples weren't for eating, they were for pie making! So Walt set out to the store on Monday afternoon for a pie crust and some vanilla ice cream and we had quite the Labor Day dessert. Apple picking season is upon us to bookmark/pin this recipe to try. With only six ingredients needed, this a real crowd pleaser for sure.... Continue reading

I love easy recipes. Don't you? Especially those that can be made in a jiffy. I think we started these last night at 8:15pm and had a scrumptious treat by 8:40. I can't take credit for this one (thank you Beth Pemper for sharing it) but I did add a few additional ingredients to her original creation. If you want to keep it simple, just do the canned pumpkin and cake mix recipe below. I opted for a 1/4 tsp of both vanilla extract and pumpkin spice for a bit more flavor. Verdict from Walt? Two thumbs up! I can't... Continue reading

I recently traveled with Nash back to Vero Beach, Florida, my hometown. I brought my friend Mel (from I Heart Photography) with me and her sweet son Jude. Jude is only seven weeks younger than Nash and they are really good baby buds. We all four crashed at my parents home and beached it up all week long. Now, I'll have you know that lugging two big baby boys all around the area beaches was no easy feat. We even opted out of the beach for a few days (the sand was getting on our last nerves) and just went... Continue reading

Being a Mom leaves me very little time for Pinterest (follow us HERE) and recipe searching. One of closest girlfriends is a great pinner so the rare moments I do get on there, I actually head straight to her and see what she's recently pinned (check out her boards HERE) and then I just mooch off of her. For this recipe, that's exactly what I did. I saw it via her recent pins and I knew we had to try it. I've made it twice in the last few weeks and it's been a really big hit, especially with Walt.... I always tell Walt how much I think Nash looks like his brother Bob. Here's proof. A few weeks ago Bob and Karrie came to see us for a much needed getaway. They've been such busy bees and were pumped to just kick back, relax and love on Nash and Zola. They have their own hairy angel (Zola's cousin Conan) back in California but he didn't make the trek. We surely did miss him. But we had such a great time showing Uncle Bob and Aunt Karrie all of our favorite sights, sounds and eateries in Austin. They're quite the... Continue reading

We love making these muffins about once a month. Walt takes them to work and it's a great snack for me. I'm not implying they are healthy but their ingredients are MUCH better than most packaged muffin mixes. And you gotta splurge every now and then, right? To keep them soy, dairy and egg free...we substitute applesauce for the eggs! We just made them last night and used the applesauce for the oil too. Delish! So just use the mix from the box and add applesauce and you'll have these yummy muffins! Continue reading

A few weekends ago we headed out of Austin and into the windy city. One of my younger brothers graduated from law school at John Marshall and the entire family decided to be there to cheer him on. What a momentous day it was and such an amazing family getaway for all of us. We are so proud of Beckett and all the excitement the future holds for him. Read on for some of our fave pics/memories from the trip and also the deets on our scrumptious eats, rented digs and the touristy stuff we enjoyed! Stay: First of all,... Continue reading

First and foremost, if I was in Florida with my extended family this weekend, this is the amazing lady I'd be celebrating. Not me and nothing about the Mom I am. But my own Mom. Nash's Mimi. One of the most incredible women I know. Seriously, if we were in Florida, I'd be singing her every praise and I'd tell her not to move a muscle, all weekend. Why? Because now that I'm a Mother I really do see things differently. I could literally go on and on and on about this extremely adored lady. If we were back 'home'... Continue reading

Amber, here's what I heard back from them: "It is just a pipe from home depot the size of the holes we wanted :-)...no special edges. Just a metal pipe...By putting the pipe on the foam and twisting and pushing it goes right through :-) hope this helps!!!" Cheers!

Oh my gosh, Walt is going to go BONKERS for some eBooks and we'll have to totally keep that in mind for when Nash is older! Thanks sweet lady! BIG HUGS! And don't let me forget about the top 10 books for kiddos under 1! We have to do that post...it'll ROCK and I'm so curious!

Amber, it looks like it is just a pipe but let me ask The Brown Family and I'll get back with you! Cheers!

We're a bm house, all the way! I won't introduce any other 'milks' until maybe one years old. It really is just fresh pumped bm...but not warmed or anything. I pump a few mornings a week to give me enough for his sippy cup and rice cereal (which we'll only do for a few more weeks and start big boy stuff at 6 months) and it's always freezing cold. Well girl, Nash DOES NOT take a bottle so I must say you're a-ok if Ryder takes one of those :) Big hugs!

These recipes really are so great! We're going to make the Greek crockpot chicken this week at CasaCullen....YUM! Yes to big ol' sippy cup boy, haha!

So I have some seriously creative friends. No really, they blow my mind. Granted, Pinterest (follow us HERE) has rev'd up a community obsessed with DIY influences and creative juices...so I love when I see the master works of good friends and my jaw drops. These two projects stopped me in my tracks. I surely hope they're going to impress you as well. Just a short post today with links back to their blogs so you can see the DIY in greater depth. Hope everyone is having a fabulous Monday. I'm knee deep in client work with a napping baby.... Continue reading

What are GMOs? A genetically modified organism (GMO) or genetically engineered organism (GEO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. These techniques, generally known as recombinant DNA technology, use DNA molecules from different sources, which are combined into one molecule to create a new set of genes. This DNA is then transferred into an organism, giving it modified or novel genes. (source) History of GMOs? Small-scale experimental plantings of genetically modified (GM) plants began in Canada and the U.S. in the late 1980s. The first approvals for large-scale, commercial cultivation came in the mid... As promised, here is our post about the delish meals the Riley family whipped up for us this past weekend in Houston. You can find more about our trip HERE since it was Nash's first road trip and what a success. We love going to visit the Rileys for many reasons but one imparticular has to do with food. They are both such amazing cooks. Creamy casseroles, decadent desserts, smoked meat and buffet breakfasts used to be on the agenda. But this family has recently caught the healthy eating bug and I am amazed at the changes, both in their... Continue reading
