Wonder
I call Mia "the Wonder baby" not only because she charms me to no end and I adore her to the moon and back, but because she is the miracle baby we didn't expect my body could nourish and grow ~ she's the baby we didn't expect to ever hold in our arms or hear laughing or see smiling back at us. ...

Spring is here!
Doesn't it feel good? It's warming up here in Southern California (well, it's always warm...but you know.) We hit the beach for the first time this year on St. Patrick's Day. Charlies' first time there and it was good. We stayed & watched the sun set. Anyway, the beginning of Spring always remi...
I do- a medium scoop :)
Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies
My sister tipped me off to this recipe a few years ago and it's absolutely my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. Ever. The whole wheat flour gives it this wonderfully chewy consistency and you can't even tell it's made with it. I decided to mix it up a little when I made it this week, by...
You are pretty much totally amazing. I'm picking my jaw up off the floor now.
maid costume completed
I finished the maid costume a bit ago. Sadie loves it. I don't think I will have to sew 2 more, the other girls are on to halloween requests, which are changing daily and seem to never invlove costumes we already have. They have asked Pete to dress-up as "guitar-playing Abraham Lincoln" wh...
I really really love this. So inspiring to push yourself and dive into new area's. Kudos!! xoxo
the sketchbook project
I have pushed myself creatively this year (taking classes to learn new techniques and mediums like painting, writing a book- more on that in another post, even relatively simple things sewing with Tyvek (thank you all for the nice comments on that, by the way!), One of my most recent self c...

:: a few good stitches
During those last days before baby Mia arrived, I had begun a few embroideries... { Mia, now 2 months } Well, here's one, finished... ... and another... On my sewing table there are so many projects in progress and I can't wait to show you when they're finished, but today I've got just the...
I'd been following "Homesweet Homegrown" on Kickstarter and didn't know if you knew they might be headed to a town near you :)

two DIY books that I really like
I just bought two smallish and very pleasing books put out by Microcosm Publishinng that are making me extremely happy. Fix Your Clothes, by Raleigh Briggs is a super handy book about mending, repairing, and extending the life of your clothes. Much of this helpful information I already knew,...
What a cutie pie!!
progress
Having a child made me realize that I need to start recognizing progress in a different way. Little victories become large ones, daily tasks are celebrated. Finishing chores is the sign of a good day, indeed. Hopes of resurrecting this space as a daily photo blog are dashed, bu...

ACK! GORGEOUS!!
All together now
I can't believe a week has gone by since I've been here. Where does the time go? I have some fun things to share with you all and a dress to show off, but that will all have to wait. I did want to tell you that Blair asked if I would contribute to the granny square sampler this week and of c...
Im so glad you liked this!!
Popover's with Raspberry Butter
On the Upper West Side of New York City, there's a wonderful little cafe called Popover's. We used to go there for brunch whenever we were in the city for the weekend. It was the first time I had ever been introduced to popover's and I really loved their wonky shape and of course, the strawber...
She is BEAUTIFUL! Congratulations! xoxo
:: update
Mia has been home almost a week now. During that first day home, we immediately laid her in the middle of our bed to 'ooh' and 'aah' over her... and to cover her with kisses. She's an adorable, sweet smelling, and snuggly addition, but we're still adjusting to life as a family of 6... tak...
Once the ingredients have been in for maybe 20 minutes or so, get a wooden spoon and really mix up the lemons & rosemary (borderline mashing!) also maybe more vanilla. I am brewing some up right now and it seems to be working fine. Also, start with a boil and then turn it down to a simmer. See if that helps.

meet Mia Nicole...
hello. Mia is here. And, oh goodness, she is adorable... Seriously. My heart aches for this girl. I am now home from hospital but Mia is staying in the NICU a bit longer. She was born by emergency c-section at 35 weeks, weighing 4 lbs. and 11 oz. (yikes!) There is so much to say but for ...
totally adorable. what a great idea!
Butterfly 5
It's actually best to view this party in Instagram because it looks better if you don't look too closely, haha. It was a fun party but I'm still feeling guilt because I didn't put as much planning and thought into it as I would have liked. My kids have kinda bad birthdays. P's is the second sc...
I love this so much Amanda. Thank you for the inspiration! xo
her birthday book
My littlest lady got herself a very special book for her very special first birthday. Just like the one her big sister got on her first birthday (that I documented in The Creative Family), and was and continues to be adored to this day, six years later (my how time flies). Had I been a bit ...
Of course, no problem Caroline.

KCWC: Days 5 & 6
Thanks for all the nice comments and suggestions on my last post. I, too, had thought to put a tank top under the Wiksten Tank dress, but it still didn't work. Drat. My bet is that it will fit next summer and until then, it's mighty cozy for sleeping. Based on a couple of comments saying that th...
That looks delicious! Must give it a try!
fennel apple salad with other stuff in it
There was a ton of amazing homemade food at the wedding in the woods we just got back from and one of the salads was an apple fennel slaw. I think I blogged about a similar slaw last year, but here it is again in a different form. I made this variation with what I had and then added some more ...
You look so adorable pregnant (I tried to comment on that post but couldnt). I had a dream about you last night. I don't even remember all the details but I somehow ran into your 'assistant' (??) at the fabric store and ....that's all I remember. So random :)
xoxo
spiders, oh my!
Do you all do the spider thing? If so, skip over this... but if you don't it's just a neat little trick I learned about a year or so ago and I've been meaning to share it with ya. Spiders are little scraps of fabric that you'd normally throw away (though not me, of course) that you can use ag...
Amanda- When we lived in Boston, we used to go to Brimfield every year. The only thing I'd recommend is a hat, water and maybe a little cart thingy to haul all your tresures in oh and CASH :)
Think we might be moving back to Boston this Summer- Brimfield, amongst many other things, is something I'm really looking forward to.
Have fun!
xo
