It's been a long time since I did a review post on something that was sent to me. But, when I was offered a pair of headphones to try out, I couldn't pass it up. When I was deployed, I... Continue reading

Home sweet home. This is my last post with any tie to my deployment. I just want to thank you all for taking the time to read my updates over the past several months. Please remember that there are still... Continue reading

I never thought this time would come. Here it is, the end of August - nearly eight months after I arrived in this country. Tempus fugit? Not hardly. More like tempus fu*kit. Thank God there's a light at the end... Continue reading

I apologize that it's been well over a month since I last posted here. I was inspired for a while and then I was attacked by a rogue band of ennuis. After being coaxed into writing for my unit's newsletter... Continue reading

I was sitting on the runway back in March in a C-130 when The Cars' You're All I've Got Tonight started playing through my earbuds. I had hoped the steady beat of the tom-tom and bass would lull me to... Continue reading

I know I've promised you all a post telling you all about the guys I'm serving with while here in Afcrapistan Afghanistan, but I want to get this quick post out there while it's still fresh for me. Everybody who... Continue reading

No wi-fi - good, ol' MWR. Almost as good but would rather be posting from the comfort of my bed :-) Or better yet, my couch at home

Holy hell has it been cold. From the day we arrived nearly two months ago, the temps on this FOB (which is 3,000 ft higher than Denver) have barely crept into the high teens - pre-dawn temps above 5 degrees... Continue reading

I wake sometimes in the middle of the night (during those oh-dark-early hours of the morning) unsure of where I am. Confused, I reach out expecting to find my wife or one of the kids but my hand only swipes... Continue reading

Buses arrived at 0330. We multicamed marauders were gathered in a very loose formation, a gaggle if you will. Soldiers smoked, dipped, fired back Monsters and Mountain Dews; others used assault packs as pillows and curled up on the asphalt... Continue reading

So, how is everyone? I must admit that my posting around these parts has been seriously lacking for some time. And by lacking I mean wholly non-existent, as in it's been so long I forgot my password today. Step #1... Continue reading

Addenda: I was a defenseman with a badass 6 ft. stick. Talk about needing hand-eye coordination. But I will check the shit out of you and make you regret ever coming my way. /shittalking

I played three years in college and coached high school for two years. It is a very badass sport. Violence with grace. Nice to see you and Lucas pickin' it up.

I feel like I'm sitting at my own roast. I appreciate all the warm comments and wit (no, not you Whit) as you accurately make the case for why I should win this fine award. I was coming to make it on my own, but you have all done it so eloquently, that anything I add might detract from your wonderful comments. I thank you all for your kind words. Commenting on all your comments about me is very meta - but somehow appropriate when we're talking about me, the Best Dadblogger of All Time Ever. Also, I believe that I am the only one here to have actually met TwoBusy. Could someone please send me M&M's and a trophy just for that? Thanks

Sean Connery and Romeo Void taught me something a long time ago: Never Say Never. Well, in Sean's case it was Never Say Never Again, but you get the point. You're smart. I think I need to clarify a bit... Continue reading
