Thank you both for your kind words! Naturgesetz, typos happen to the best of us, and my quotation marks around the use of "'corrected'" were meant to indicate my awareness that "froward" was the correct spelling. We do have an editing business. Besides, the link is to my preferred Examination of Conscience, so I'm trying to make clear I know from frowardness! Meanwhile, my use of a self-deprecating footnote was a literary tribute to the current champion of Catholic bloggers writing about SSA. In past years, I was put off such footnotes as I watched David Foster Wallace's neuroses spin out of control -- until they got the best of DFW. More recently, I've come back to appreciating their use by the great Hebrew Catholic "Steve Gershom." Are you reading Steve Gershom? I really recommend you do.
Hello, friend, and thanks for asking. This blog welcomes readers of other faiths and no faith, and you're not the only Jewish visitor, so it behooves us to explain that phrase. The Tiber River runs to and through Rome. To "swim the Tiber" is for a Protestant to become Catholic. And as you're likely very aware, our present Holy Father has created new canonical (Church legal) structures through which hundreds of thousands of Anglicans have a new opportunity for entry into full communion with the Catholic Church.
