Hey guys, I read this great blog from Rick Warren earlier today and felt led to post it. Keen to hear your thoughts... “You will all be joined together, and you will give glory to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ accepted you, so you should accept each other, which will bring glory to God.” (Romans 15:6-7 NCV) There are only two ways to get into a family: You can either be born into it, or you can be adopted into it. God does both for you! It’s called being born again, and it’s called being adopted... Continue reading

Good morning! I read this blog from Rick Warren this morning and wanted to share it... “No prophecy ever originated from humans. Instead, it was given by the Holy Spirit as humans spoke under God's direction.” (2 Peter 1:21 GW) The Bible is the most read book in history. It’s also the bestselling book in history and the most translated book in history. Yet it’s more than that. It’s also God’s Word — God’s very breath. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (NIV). That means the Bible... Continue reading

Recently, I preached a message at Liquid where I shared some lessons & insights that God is teaching me at the moment. So... here is What s thngs that are ‘HOT’ for me at the moment. 3 battles that I'm having at the moment all Personal… One related to family, one relationally, one spiritually What’s Hot for me? The 1st battle… REACTION vs RESPONSE I find that I can react to my circumstances rather than respond to my God. This is particularly HOT at the moment in my Parenting. God is challenging me about not reacting in the moment, &... Continue reading

‘There must be more to life than this?’ Are they words that you have spoken before? Have you ever sat and wondered 'is this all there is to my life?' Perhaps there have been times where you have felt that what you were experiencing in life so far just wasn’t really cutting it? Maybe you are feeling that right now. That feeling of 'same old, same old' just isn’t the sort of life you ever intended to live, however life seems to be looking more and more like the movie Groundhog Day. One day rolling into the next and all... Continue reading

As I watch and listen to the initial effects of this powerful cyclone hitting the coast of Northern Queensland, I start to think about the many parents who are sitting in their homes in darkness (because the power is out) with very frightened young children. To be waiting and listening to such powerful and devistating weather conditions, unlike anything that they have ever experienced before, must be horrific. To be sitting in my comfortable chair, kilometres away from any danger and not being able to do anything, is quite sureal. Infact, the only thing I can do... Indeed the one... Continue reading

"You Idiot... Your Hopeless... You will never amount to anything... Your stupid!" Much of the pain that we have inflicted on others or that others have put us through comes out of the words that have been spoken. Words are a bit like toothpaste... It doesn't matter whether we meant to say them or not, once they are out there words can not but put back. There is such a power in the spoken word, if fact the bible states in the book of Proverbs that 'death and life are in the power of the tongue'. I remember the little rhyme... Continue reading

Recently, whilst enjoying a coffee (of course!) I read the following blog which was posted by Paul Andrew in Leadership, The Leadership Coach Let me know what you think... The label maker is a versatile device. Saviour of kids’ belongings that would otherwise disappear at school. Stalwart of office filing systems. It can categorise, declare ownership, explain purpose, give instructions for use, even declare value. The label is a powerful thing. But I’ve noticed that labels switch from helpful to harmful when we use them on people instead of things. I was a youth worker for some years and I... Continue reading

Hey guys, I read this blog recently and wanted to share it with you... Couldn't believe that Bono was celebrating his 50th birthday. I guess it's because the music U2 produce is timeless. Enjoy! @U2, May 10, 2010 By: Matt McGee and staff While working on this essay last week, I had managed to list about 40 to 45 things to love about Bono when it occurred to me that I should get some input from the rest of the @U2 staff. I sent out an e-mail without sharing the list I'd already put together and invited the gang to... Continue reading

So... another Easter has been enjoyed and celebrated. Chocolate eggs shared, holidays embraced, a time to get together with family and friends. I wonder though, how many of us have given any time over the past few days to reflect on what the actions of Jesus Christ on that first Easter, over 2000 years ago means to us today. Have you taken a moment to consider what response, if any, you will make as you consider the Crucifixion and and subsequent Resurrection of Jesus? Easter is a celebration of new life, new life for every one of us. So... how... Continue reading

Took Caz along to see the recently released movie Invictus last week and would have to say that it is one of my favorite movies of the last few years. Morgan Freeman plays to role of Nelson Mandela, who in his first term of as the South African President, initiates a unique venture to unite the apartheid-torn land: enlist the national rugby team on a mission to win the 1995 Rugby World Cup. The movie does a brilliant job of illustrating how well Mandela understood the times and how he was prepared to forgive and set aside the pain of... Continue reading

Leadership expert John Maxwell is quoted as saying 'Everything rises and falls on Leadership.' If this is true then anyone who leads has a significant responsibility. Whether your role of leader is in business, in the sporting world, within the family, in a social organization or as part of a church, its the success is, in most cases, directly related to the leadership you bring. How often have you seen coach sacked because the team haven't performed, or a manager demoted because the results of his department weren't up to scratch, or a mother criticized because of her poorly behave... As Assistant Coach of the Southern Peninsula, Big V Women's basketball team, I had the privilege of spending last weekend at a team-building campsite called 'The Summit' in Trafalgar. In preparation for the start of a new season, where our team has been promoted to Division One, Glenn & I decided a boot camp was the best way to get the girls ready to kick into the new year. From two thirteen year old 'rookies'... to a 31 year old mother of two, our squad of enthusiastic girls/women showed what a 'never give up attitude' can achieve. After being strapped... A catastrophic earthquake has killed tens of thousands of people on the Caribbean Island of Haiti overnight. Yet when I picked up my copy of Melbourne's most popular newspaper, what do I see on the front page? A photograph of an Australian pop singer's sister, announcing that she was pregnant. Good news? Probably. Newsworthy? Arguable. Worthy of the front page headline? I don't think so. I then turned to pages 4 & 5 to read about the thousands of homes that had been destroyed and lives taken away by this natural disaster. I sometimes wonder if newspapers editors and producers...
