I've got Boy on Ice but haven't read it yet. I also want to read Sharp Objects as I'm split on her other two so it will be best two out of three lol. School decidedly cuts into pleasure reading. All I can find time to read are graphic novels it seems.

I'm sorry I missed the eldest's although he did come right home to tell me all about it.

Invictus BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head... Continue reading

The Ten on Tuesday topic for 10/21 is 10 Things You Would Save If Your House Was On Fire. For the purpose of this exercise we are assuming that all of your family and pets are safe, we are just focusing on the stuff. This was tougher than I expected.... Continue reading

October is my favorite month of the year for a number of reasons. The color of the leaves, the return of all the pumpkin things, hoodie weather and because it has my favorite day of the year in it...Halloween! In honor of that we have today's Ten on Tuesday, my... Continue reading

Poor Pepsi. I'm glad he's doing better. Vet bills are the worst but what can you do. Sorry about the laptop. It's been quite an expensive month for you :/
There are so many films that I use for cinematherapy. I can watch them again and again and lose myself and my worries in them for a little while. They're not always critical acclaimed films but something in them touches something in me and that's all that really matters. Here... Continue reading

Look at me writing a 10 on Tuesday post and actually getting it posted. Who am I? Ahh Summer, how I hate it. I am not a fan of the heat so I like anything that will cool me down and keep me hydrated but honestly most of these I... Continue reading

I'm absolutely in love with that dog. I may try to take him home with me.
Typepad ate my post and I am too fried to recreate it. Can I do a throwback thursday to a ten on tuesday ;)
As I confessed recently, Whole30 ended up being Whole11. I felt mentally foggy and miserable although I can't deny physically I felt pretty good. My immune system has gone to shit though and it's upsetting me. I thought it was stress over the last few years that made me get the shingles and be sick every two months but even now that things have calmed down I am still sick every other month, mildly but still, and now I appear to be prone to infections (had a cut on my finger that I had to go to the ER for) and severe allergic reactions (I broke out in a severe rash over the weekend that still hasn't passed, don't even know what from). I have got to get myself together physically. I hate being this illness prone :(

I so wanted to do this yesterday, so screw it I'm doing it a day late LOL. Pat Benatar is the only one who will be on my list also. I'm jealous of a number of these.
I read a lot of touchy feely/flaky/Shirley MacLaine type stuff. While I can't say I buy into it 100%, the 10-30% I do buy into, I often find helpful. A few months back when I was having particularly bad issues with my brain going into high spin and the anxiety... Continue reading

Oh and I won't join you on Grapes of Wrath. Steinbeck and I are not friends.
I'm still working my way through Monuments Men and enjoying it. I'd love pictures also. The idea of a photo companion is brilliant! I've jumped ahead a bit with Dark Places. I'm trying the ebook borrowing from the library and that one became available. I have to finish it in 7 days since I let it sit for 7. It's funny that you mention that with Winter's Tale. I remember trying to read it over 20 years ago and it was the first chapter I couldn't get through. I was hoping time would help with that but now I'm concerned it won't be any better this time around.
I meant to do this post as well but Tuesday got away from me :/ Loving Monuments Men as we discussed. I can't wait to see the film. I was also disappointed in Labor Day, although a friend said the film was fantastic. I am a Kate Winslet fan but I don't always like her choice in film roles so I'm on the fence about seeing it. The youngest is eating me out of house and home. At 12 he is my height 5'7", and growing constantly. I had to replace the clothes I bought him in September for school because he's outgrown all his pants by nearly 2 inches!

Her Kind I have gone out, a possessed witch, haunting the black air, braver at night; dreaming evil, I have done my hitch over the plain houses, light by light: lonely thing, twelve-fingered, out of mind. A woman like that is not a woman, quite. I have been her kind.... Continue reading

I think that's very true. I came through this and in the end my kids are ok and my relationship with my ex is pretty much what I wanted it to be (in the sense of maintaining friendship and as you once put it "being partners in the business of parenting"). I landed on my feet so maybe that's why I am feeling pretty fearless at the moment. Best ride that momentum I think, lol.

The new year/new me thing pisses me off. I like me. I don't want a new one. However, even with my fairly healthy ego, I can admit there is always room for improvement. I'm coming off a year with lots of changes. Most of the big ones came right in... Continue reading

I'm enjoying Labor Day so far. I'm trying to get Overdrive set up on my Nook so I can borrow some of them from the library. I tried to read Winter's Tale when it first came out and couldn't get into it. I'm hoping the decades in between have resolved that issue. I got stuck in book three of GoT. I have to go back and try to finish it at some point.
This month was such a whirlwind I totally missed this post! At least half of these are on my to-do list as we speak lol.
Right? That is one of the stupidest comments I've ever read. Realistically the company mission isn't necessarily that bad that's why I didn't take the whole idea to task but that comment is just outrageous and ignorant.
I read an article in the New York Times yesterday. Ostensibly this article was about how the printed book is not dying as quickly as had been predicted. Yet that is not really where the article ended up. It was more about how we are changing books to suit the... Continue reading
