I know I'm late to the party to chime in, but there is no reason for you to feel embarrassed or ashamed to accept public assistance! You guys are doing the absolute best you can with your current situation, and as everyone has said, that's what you've paid your taxes for! You're not abusing the system, and someday, when you're back on your feet, your tax dollars will be able to help other families that are in your situation. I grew up dirt poor and without these programs, my working mother would not have been able to fully provide for my brother and I. Also, I've used the Angel Food ministries during difficult financial times. You can google them, and find a local church or organization that is participating. It's a wonderful program that really helps. ((HUGS))

I think if I saw that there were other people within shouting distance, I would feel comfortable with confronting the boys, but either way, I would've also alerted security or the police. I once had my husband chase down/follow a drunk driver down the interstate while I called 911, because I knew I couldn't live with myself if they harmed themselves or others and I did nothing to stop it. We stayed with the person until the police caught up, and then filled out statements. Yeah, I'm a goody-goody nosy person like that.

I'm so happy for you! I'm still looking for work. I've been on a couple of interviews, but no offers were made. Honestly, it's been a real blow, becuase I really didn't expect this. I've never had difficulty finding employment in the past, so this is a real eye-opener.

Pics look fine to me, too! I too, always thought that Caroline looked like Todd, but I definitely see her resemblence to you now! We need a baby pic of Todd to compare with!

Oh for Pete's sake! Can you NOT get a break?! If I win the lottery, you'll get a significant donation to the "Save Julia's sanity, because she really deserves/needs it" fund.

Dude!! I LOVE the toilet wand thing. It's been a revolution in my toilet cleaning habits! I love that I can just flush it all away, and no more gross toilet scrubber! I usually buy the citrus scented one, and you really do smell the clean afterwards!

I find myself feeling very short with people lately, and having increased panic attacks, without a known underlying cause. I can only assume it's the general anxiety of those around me that's getting to me. While we're doing "ok" financially at the moment (knock wood), I worry all the time about my husband's job. Should he be laid off, the results would be catastrophic. All of the hard work we've put into re-building our credit after our financial shenanigans of our youth would be wiped out. I grew up dirt-ass poor, and the thought of having to endure that level of poverty again scares me shitless. You've all got my sympathies, understanding, and love.

I know, right?! I've GOT TO get out of my spending habits and learn to live with less (not that I have a lot, but I do love clothes!). I've also been inspired to look into volunteering thanks to Obama's speech.

I love country b-day parties! We're having a problem getting my soon-to-be 4 y.o. sister to decide on a theme for her birthday. The party will be a simple affair at my parent's house, and the child is under the mistaken idea that she's getting a dog and a horse (of which she will receive neither). Ah, four!

Do you have a PayPal account? If so, I'll just hook you up ($$) there. Well, as much as I can, anyway.

Wow. This hits home. I'm the worst at self-deprecating humor. I will sacrifice my pride, just to turn an insecure moment into a laugh. I also put down my intelligence, while on the inside I know how smart I am. I put down my appearance, and catch myself walking around with slumped shoulders and my head down. When, if I would only walk tall and look people in the eye, they would see the pretty girl I know I can be. If I have a daughter, I want to teach her pride and self-esteem. I'll never let her put herself down in my presence. I know she'll roll her eyes at me and tell me that I only think she's great because I'm her mom, but someday, if I tell her enough, she'll start to believe it for herself.

Well, I guess I missed the other design, but I really love this one. I think that family photo is great, and really represents what you're all about.
