Two years to the week since my first day with Six Apart Services, Six Apart [announced](http://www.sixapart.com/blog/2010/09/say-hello.html) that we will be merging with [VideoEgg](http://videoegg.com) to create a new entity, [SAY Media](http://saymedia.com). Sadly, some of us won't be making the transition, including remote employees like myself. The last two years have been filled with challenges, moments of total WIN mixed with the... Continue »

There is something I’ve gotten really excited about lately and it is only just beginning. I’m talking about the new wave of awesome girl tools to hit the web. I’m in the middle of the the biggest petrie dish for startups in the world, New York City (oh yeah, I... Continue »

"Crimes by Women" dates back to 1950, a time before most of the art and technology of comics had been developed. For example, this was before man knew how to draw the hands of other men - look at those things: with only animals to use as subjects, this poor cockeyed cop is left with nothing but monkey's paws to defend himself.* The rest of the comic is drawn similarly, with improbably shaped people in poses that would require an additional spine, this one installed sideways. The comic also suffered from the poor sound effect technology of the day. Things... Continue »

OMG STOP. The only 3rd D you can add to this is "suck." For "The Phantom Menace" I guess that that would make it 4D. My new favorite Twitter follow, Rob Delaney, (@robdelaney) says "I will see Jar Jar Binks in 3D the same day I affix my penis to a moving bus with a nail gun." To which I reply: Rob, make that two penises. via screenrant.com Continue »

Michelle Rodriguez can really duck and weave! She ducks a question about whether Avatar should have won the Best Movie Oscar, and weaves her way into the ring to pummel the co-founder of Fantastic Fest (a genre film festival held at Austin’s Alamo Drafthouse, running until September 30th - get your tickets now, kids!). Did she lead with her head like that in Girlfight? via www.wired.com Continue »

Expert Labs reached a major milestone today! We released the first beta of ThinkUp, the PHP/MySQL webapp that archives your social media interactions in a database you control. Download it here. Following eight alpha releases over the past eight months, I'm so proud that the ThinkUp community and the software product itself has reached beta. The beta represents hundreds of commits by over 20 thoughtful developers scattered across the globe, and countless conversations on the mailing list, in Wave, on Skype, IM, and on GitHub. It's amazing how far ThinkUp's come since its early days as a solo weekend project.... Continue »

This Sunday took place in the shadow of a painfully blocked milk duct. The progression of events went about like this: Good morning! Wow, my tit is certainly very full of milk. Oh, damn. Hours of fruitless hot compresses, hot showers, glasses of water, ibuprofin, attempts at expressing with the dairy-cow machine, and lethargic moaning (lethargy and moaning both of course known to be highly fruitful at the best of times). A timid and tentative piercing of the bleb with a sterile needle. THANK CHRIST. Bless you, suckling infant, for the powerful hoover of your maw. Forty-five minutes of limp,... Continue »

Six Apart acquired by VideoEgg. End of an era since I've been with 6A pretty much since the beginning, working in that old dental office, hammering away on emails seated between the CEO and President. We used to all go to lunch together way back then. I got married and had a daughter while at 6A. I got to be totally open about who I am (i.e. a Burner), and got to work closely with Tokyo, my home. It's a new chapter, and this makes sense in many ways. But this is a biggie...no more "Six Apart" where we called... Continue »
